A New Approach to Compute Transient Behavior of Grounding Electrodes in Time-Domain 一种时域计算接地电极暂态行为的新方法

In this paper, based on the electromagnetic field theory in frequency domain and by using the full set of Maxwell's equations, an exact numerical method is presented to calculate the high frequency characteristics of electrodes excited by high frequency sources such as lightning, faults etc. In this method, the effect of ground-reflected waves which exist due to the boundary between earth (lossy medium) and air have been considered according to the modified image theory that includes a modified reflection coefficient (RC) instead of solving the Sommerfeld integral in the high frequency formulation of the Green function. In addition, the transient voltages in time domain are calculated applying fast inverse-Laplace transform technique (FILT) to the frequency response of the grounding electrode.

A Three Phase Active Filter based on Three Level Diode Clamp Inverter 基于三电平二极管箝位逆变器的三相有源滤波器

Variable speed drives are the main source of harmonics in industrial power systems. The focus of this paper is industrial power systems in heavy industries like petro-chemical industries, steel mills, cement mills etc where medium voltage high power variable speed drives are used. A three phase shunt active filter based on three level diode clamp inverter is presented in this paper. The working principle of the three level shunt active filters, design of controller is explained. A DC bus voltage controller is developed which will not only maintain the DC bus at constant value and but also balance the DC bus voltage. The action of the active filter under steady state operation of the drive, load changes and speed changes, including regeneration is presented.

Novel HV Circuit Breaker Reliability Testing Measure Based on Image Processing 基于图像处理的高压断路器可靠性测试新方法

Aimed at the difficulty of sensors installation in high-voltage (HV) circuit test experiment, a novel image processing based measure is put forward to detect the mechanical parameters. Through the on-off action images were captured by digital camera with the HV circuit breaker switching, the moving contact travel parameter can be calculated from image analyzing. At the meantime, the necessary timing or interval parameter can be calculated by the electrical signal processing. So most of other key mechanical characteristic parameters, include moving contactor trip, average velocity, bounce frequency, switching time-consuming and over-travel etc., can be also derived associated with the moving travel parameter and time-signal set. It is a non-contact measurement method, which can instead of grating sensor installed on the HV circuit breaker. Experiments result that this new method can obtain the HV circuit breaker mechanical parameter accurately, and it can increase the testing automatic level greatly.

Series Capacitor Made Less - or not at all Sensitive to Increasing Short Circuit Levels 串联电容器对增加的短路电平不太敏感或根本不敏感

A series capacitor should be protected from over-voltage caused by fault currents in the transmission line. This paper evaluates how the protection of a series capacitor can be made less sensitive to the power system short circuit level. After an introduction, conventional protection principles are briefly discussed. The paper discusses how the evolving power system complicates the dimensioning of the series capacitor protection system. A control system, making the series capacitor less sensitive to the dimensioning parameters, is presented. Results of a simulation study are presented and followed by conclusions .

Modeling, Design and Analysis of Different Controllers for DSTATCOM DSTATCOM不同控制器的建模、设计与分析

This paper deals with different control strategies for DSTATCOM (distribution static compensator) for power quality improvement for a three-phase, three-wire distribution system. A three-leg voltage source inverter (VSI) configuration with a dc bus capacitor is employed as DSTATCOM. The hysteresis as well as PWM current controllers are designed, analyzed and compared for PI controller and sliding mode controller. The capability of the DSTATCOM is demonstrated through results obtained using MATLAB and Simulink based developed model of the DSTATCOM system. The performance of the DSTATCOM acting as a shunt compensator is found satisfactory under varied load perturbations.

Harmonic Analysis of Electromagnetic Transients in 500 kV Single Circuit Transmission System Using Discrete Wavelet Transform 用离散小波变换分析500kv单回路输电系统电磁瞬变的谐波

The paper presents an approach based signal processing on discrete wavelet transform for the evaluation of harmonic contents of electromagnetic transients in 500 kV single circuit transmission system. The analysis of electromagnetic transients is carried out by employing the wire electric field integral equation in frequency domain. After reaching the steady state the voltage and current waveforms, this paper presents a discrete-Fourier transform (DFT) filter bank for analyzing power system harmonic, and a DWT-based signal processing for harmonic analysis of non-stationary power system waveforms. Simulation results show that this scheme is capable of providing correct responses under various system configurations and fault conditions and practical harmonics evaluation of 500 kV EHV transmission lines in power system.

Design and Analysis of Annular Linear Induction Pump (ALIP) 环形线性感应泵(ALIP)设计与分析

An EM (electromagnetic) pump is employed to transport liquid metal in applications like metal industries and metal cooled atomic reactors, which are in chemically active and high temperature environment. One type of EM pump is the annular linear induction pump (ALIP), which uses liquid sodium with high electrical conductivity as a coolant. In this paper we compare the performance of ALIP as predicted by an equivalent circuit model with that predicted by a finite element model. It is shown that the finite element model gives pointers to refinement that may be necessary to improve prediction accuracy through the equivalent circuit approach. This paper also presents a parametric study of the system in an attempt to find ways of improving the pump performance.

Application of Artificial Neural Networks in Determining Critical Clearing Time in Transient Stability Studies 人工神经网络在暂态稳定研究中确定临界清除时间的应用

This paper describes a neural network based adaptive pattern recognition approach by making a thorough analysis on a power system for estimation of the critical clearing time. A nine bus system is considered for the purpose of transient stability analysis. Faults at five locations are assumed at different instants. Critical clearing times for all five faults at six different loading levels are obtained. Out of thirty cases, 24 cases corresponding to four faults have been used for training the neural network and remaining six CCTs corresponding to the fifth fault at six loading levels obtained by ANN as well as modified Eular method. The same is repeated for all five faults. Nueral network designed with 12 input neurons, 8 hidden neurons and one output neuron. Back propagation technique is used to adjust the weights. Analytical calculations are compared with the values obtained by neural network. Results show that ANN gives accurate results.

Power Sector Reforms in India: A Case Study 印度电力部门改革:个案研究

The country's development is measured in terms of per capita consumption of electricity which in turn depends on electricity generated. In India per capita energy consumption is quite low and for the year 2007 it was only a meager 665 KWH per annum in comparison to about 12000 KWh for USA and 34000 in Norway, which indicates fairly low level of industrialization in the country. The peak power shortage of 16.6% and average energy shortage of 9.8 % has been plaguing Indian power sector for 2007-08. As a result, regulators, worldwide are now implementing new regulatory schemes and organizational reforms in an effort to improve the incentives for efficient operation of electricity utilities. All these reforms are consistent with the view that competition should be introduced into the electricity supply industry, wherever, it is technologically feasible and India is not exception to these reforms. In this paper, a case study of Himachal Pradesh, which is a hilly state with difficult terrains in the Northern Part of India has been carried out. This state has distinction of achieving 100% electrification way back in 1989 and rapid load growth. With enactment of Electricity Act 2003, there has been tremendous improvement in power sector of this state. There is significant improvement in the areas of transmission and distribution, tariff rationalization and in availability of power supply.

Distributed OPF of Larges Scale Interaction Power Systems 大型相互作用电力系统的分布式OPF

In this paper, a new algorithm for decentralized OPF is proposed, which is based on decomposition of KKT conditions of the global OPF. As implicit functions adopted, a boundary optimal problem is coined to formulate the global OPF in the decomposition and coordination manner. An improved inner-point method is applied to solve this boundary optimal problem, which makes use of a Jacobian-Free Newton GMRES(m) method to enhance its convergence rates as well as to reduce the communication costs. The IEEE 39 and 118 bus systems are used for case studies. Test results prove that the proposed decentralized OPF algorithm has strong convergence and requires small communication costs, which makes it feasible in wide area network environments.
