In this study, an on-body Planar Inverted-F Antenna (PIFA) has been designed for biomedical purposes operated in Medical Implant Communication Service (MICS) (401-406MHz) band. The primary reasons behind choosing MICS band are its only application is found in medical sector due to its world wide availability, acceptable propagation and characteristics. The main features of this antenna are its minimized sized compare than recent on-body biomedical antennas. The total dimension of this antenna is 29mm×29mm×1.04mm. In order to make this antenna bio medically suitable for use on human tissues; the antenna has mounted on different human tissue models where proper electrical properties of human muscles has been maintained. The antenna is suitable for real time monitoring for different types of disease related to human skin, muscle, brain, breast etc. Towards making this antenna more bio-compatible and improving its performance an additional Silicon layer has been used. As this antenna is designed for biomedical application, it needs to be harmless to human tissue for which it’s SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) is needed to be below the restricted limit by Federal Communications Commission (FCC). This measurement has also kept in mind during the design. Finally this antenna has been simulated on different human body models by using Computer Simulation Technology (CST).

The internet is teeming with an ocean worth of information and combing through all that in order to find what one wants can become a daunting task if one does not possess the right tools and techniques. This paper explores one such technique, exploiting the rapidly responsive Long-Short Term Memory Recurrent Neural Networks (LSTM-RNNs) by harnessing the machine learning capabilities of neural networks and eventually, provides contextual search results at the finger tips of the user of the system.

Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) technology has been a tremendous challenge in modern science. This technology uses the basic interference principle of waves to cancel out a signal by superposition with its inverted signal. This paper presents the possible results of implementing an ANC system to reduce the sound level of car horns inside the room of a patient in a hospital in Bangladesh. The entire project was initially modelled using a designed wooden cavity in place of the desired room. After attempting the work using Analog methods, the researchers decided to explore digital solutions by designing a Digital Signal Processing (DSP) unit in MATLAB and Simulink. All real world signals were used which were captured using microphones. And speakers were used to generate noise and anti-noise for the modelled system.

In this paper, Kretschmann configuring SPR biosensor has been proposed using simulation based numerical and graphical demonstration. Five layers of biosensor model is submitted consisting of Silver (Ag), Black phosphorus (BP) and two dimensional TMDC Tungsten Diselenide (WSe2) layers. Angular modulation is adapted to evaluate the results by monochromatic P polarized incident light with 633nm wavelength. Highest sensitivity of 367.8571 °/RIU is achieved by using three layers of BP along with only one layer of WSe2. Layer optimization is carried out by changing the minimum reflectance, change in resonance angle and sensitivity. This recommended biosensor model gives the desirable maximum change in sensitivity while changing the refractive index of the sensing medium.

E-STATCOMs are static compensator devices incorporated with energy storage devices. In this paper, a supercapacitor energy storage system (SCESS) has been interfaced with a static compensator (STATCOM) for transient control of a power system. While STATCOM is known to improve the reactive power unbalance following a contingency, a STATCOM SCESS system can affect both real and reactive power needs. Performance of a single machine infinite bus system has been considered as a test case. It has been observed that a simple STATCOM SCESS can stabilize an unstable system. Additionally, supplementary PI controllers in both voltage magnitude and phase angle loops can provide extra damping to the system. The controllers have been shown to provide very good responses even when the system is subjected to severe three-phase fault conditions.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is an emergency medical procedure applied when a patient’s heart stops functioning suddenly, mainly due to cardiac arrest, drowning or electric shock. Normally, CPR is applied manually but the process is ineffective to provide adequate chest compressions to cardiac arrest patients. The main objective in this paper is to design a mechanized process of providing CPR and thus replacing the traditional manual CPR technique altogether. We designed an automated CPR device with piston-driven chest compression system and a patient monitoring system. The patient monitoring system consists of a heart rate monitor, body temperature monitor and respiratory rate monitor. The heart rate monitor is integrated with the automated CPR device. This means that when the heart rate monitor detects patient’s heart beat then the automated CPR device will not operate but if the heart rate monitor detects no heart beat then the automated CPR device will immediately provide CPR to the patient. The automated CPR along with the patient monitoring system has been tested on a CPR manikin and the results of the performance is well within the accepted CPR guidelines.

This Fault means unsatisfactory, undesirable situation or feature which is a commonly known word in power system network. Over all system’s behavior, reliability, system’s protection, controlling is very much dependent on fault analysis. When a system is in faulty condition, it states in abnormal situation and lose it’s system properties such as continuous power flow to the consumers. Moreover, it’s long existence can impairment the system equipment and causes fire whose continuation causes property loss, hence over all economical loss of the power system. To mitigate this circumstance, it necessary to understand the system behavior in the faulty situation and so there needs a term named fault analysis. This paper focused on the transient fault analysis of the distribution side of the power system network to show the transient overvoltage developed during clearing of fault. PSCAD software has been used to simulate the network and understand the behavior of voltage and current during faulty period and voltages developed at different buses during clearing of fault. In PSCAD software, a schematic diagram is built to run the simulation process, analysis the result and depicted the data in a graphical circumstance.

Nowadays, renewable energy is a trend in power generation in the world, gradually replacing conventional energy resources as fossil fuels are becoming exhausted and environmental problems are worsening. In particular, solar energy is currently being interested by many countries all over the world. Along with the development, the grid has faced with several risks during operation process when this type of energy resource is integrated. This article examines the impact of solar energy on the local distribution grid and on the grid performance when the fault occurs based on the actual grid pattern, ThuaThienHue-Vietnamese grid and PhongDien Solar photovoltaic Project (PhongDien PV). Using ETAP we have shown how the load flow of the PV system in the grid of ThuaThienHue-Vietnamese. The different levels of PhongDien PV penetration are considered in assumed cases to examine the frequency, voltage and resilience capability of the grid. The results show that the impact of solar power plants on the distribution grid as well as the benefits it brings.

A smart grid is a digitally intertwined electrical network which delivers electricity to consumers through a multidirectional controlling system. Such systems allow analysis, monitoring and communication within the power transmission network to increase efficiency, minimize energy consumption and maximize the use of power used between production to consumption. The present power transmission system in Bangladesh is piled atop very old and rickety system, Bangladesh suffers from a massive load-shedding problem based on multifaceted issues. Alongside improving on power generation capacity and moving towards a smart grid system, the country needs to consider and move towards an energy efficient culture using the smart grid systems in order to further reduce power shortage problem. This paper will assess the effectiveness of behavioral science and nudge theory in developing an energy-conscious culture to save energy waste. The many examples of energy efficiency behaviors implemented around the world will be discussed in detail trying to find an approach appropriate for the country. The intent of this paper is to draw the attention of policymakers, engineering researchers and professionals towards such passive and low-cost approaches that has high potential to become successful on a microeconomic and macroeconomic scale.

Handwritten character recognition is one of the most emerging fields within the optical character recognition area. Bangla handwritten character recognition is a complex task, it is challenging due to extensive size and diversity within the alphabets. Currently, convolutional neural network (CNN) has been proven to have the ability to classify complex dataset. The convolutional neural network does not require any predefined feature extraction method, but it requires a large dataset to gain accuracy. This work proposes a convolutional neural network model for classifying Bangla handwritten alphabets and compares the performance with the other widely used models for classification. Each model is trained with a large dataset, which is augmented to have diversity in data and features. After training, we have tested the models with 7500 sample images and it shows an accuracy of 97.87% for the proposed model. In this work, we also find out the weights of the CNN network for best performance and used that weights to evaluate the performance from other data set for cross-validation of our model. The weighted model accuracy for two different independent data set is 95.23% and 94.22%.
