The mixed halide compound SmFCl is studied at room temperature by X-ray and optical investigations in order to look for a pressure induced structural or valence change. The results show that in the pressure range up to 22 GPa there is no structural change. Though also an abrupt pressure induced valence change (Sm2+ Sm3+) is excluded the results are not in contradiction with the occurance of a gradual valence change. Das gemischte Halogenid SmFCl wird bei Raumtemperatur mit Hilfe von Rontgenbeugung und optischen Messungen im Hinblick auf eine druckinduzierte Strukturanderung oder einen Valenzwechsel hin untersucht. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, das im Druckbereich bis 22 GPa keine Strukturanderung auftritt. Obwohl ein abrupter druckinduzierter Valenzwechsel (Sm2+ Sm3+) ausgeschlossen werden kann, stehen die Mesergebnisse nicht im Widerspruch zu einem kontinuierlichen Valenzwechsel.

Praseodymium has a number of interesting phase transitions under pressure. Band structure calculations are performed for Pr in both, the low and high pressure region using the composite wave variational version of the APW method. Based on the results obtained, some conjecture is made to the nature of the most prominent transition. Praseodym zeigt unter Druck eine Anzahl von interessanten Phasenubergangen. Es werden Bandstrukturberechnungen fur Pr sowohl im Nieder- als auch Hochdruckbereich mit der Variationsversion zusammengesetzter Wellen der APW-Methode durchgefuhrt. Auf der Grundlage der erzielten Ergebnisse werden einige Schlusse uber die Art des deutlichsten Ubergangs gezogen.
