Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Mn(II) complexes of Schiff base derived from 2-aminophenol and pyrrole-2- carbaldehyde have been prepared. The complexes are formed by coordination of N and O atoms of the ligand. Their structures were characterized by physico-chemical and spectroscopic methods. Molecular structure of the complexes has been optimized by MM2 calculations and suggests a tetrahedral/ square planar geometry. The bio-efficacy of the ligand and their complexes has been examined against the growth of bacteria in vitro to evaluate their anti-microbial potential.

The bark of Bauhinia tomentosa L. is used for inflammation, wound, dysentery, skin diseases and for microbial infections. In order to ensure the use of only genuine and uniform material in preparation of herbal formulation, work on standardization was carried out. Macroscopic, microscopic and physico-chemical characteters determination have been carried out, which would facilitate quick identification and selection of the drug from various adulterants.

The physicochemical parameters were studied for water samples collected from different locations in Kopargaon area; It is one of the important taluka of Ahmednagar district, Maharastra state, India. The main purpose of the study was to ascertain the quality of water for drinking from selected locations. Assessment of water quality was done by comparing the parameters with standard values prescribed by different agencies. Most of the parameters were found within permissible limits of above standards. Correlation co-efficient ‘r’ was calculated for these parameters.

Random copolyesters were synthesized directly from respective diacids and diols with diphenylchlorophosphate (DPCP) as a polycondensation agent. These polymers were characterized by FT-IR and NMR spectrometry. Interestingly, they were observed to possess photocrosslinkability which was established using scanning electron microscopy by UV irradiation experiments. Photocrosslinkable polymers have significant applications in the field of non-linear optics, in the generation of photoresists and photorefractive materials.

In this work, we report preparation and characterization of P-toluene sulphonic acid (P-TSA) doped tetraaniline nanorods by micellar assisted method using ammonium per sulphate (APS) as an oxidant. Here, PTSA acts as dopant as well as template for tetraaniline nanostructures. The synthesized tetraaniline nanorods have been well characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), FT Raman spectroscopy, UV-Visible spectroscopy (UV-Visible), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and thermogravimetry. The morphologies of tetraaniline were found to be dependent on molar ratios of N-phenyl-1, 4-phenylenediamine (NPPD) to PTSA. The spectroscopic data indicated that PTSA doped tetraaniline nanorods. Thermogravimetry studies revealed that the PTSA doping improved the thermal stability of tetraaniline nanorods.

A first-derivative spectrophotometry method for the simultaneous determination of Co (II) and Ni (II) with Alizarin Red S in presence of Triton X-100 is described. Measurements were made at the zero-crossing wavelengths at 549.0 nm for Co (II) and 546.0 nm for Ni (II). The linearity is obtained in the range of 0.291- 4.676 μg/ml of Ni (II) and 0.293- 4.124 μg/ml of Co (II) in the presence of each other by using first derivative spectrophotometric method. The possible interfering effects of various ions were studied. The validity of the method was examined by using synthetic mixtures of Co (II) and Ni (II). The developed derivative procedure, using the zero crossing technique, has been successfully applied for the simultaneous analysis of Co (II) and Ni (II) in spiked water samples.

Synthesis of 1,5-diaryl-1,4-pentadien-3-one amidinohydrazone hydrochloride via the condensation of 1,5-diaryl-1,4-pentadien-3-one and aminoguanidine hydrochloride catalyzed by hydrochloric acid was carried out in 80-94% yield at 35-37°C within 1.5 h under ultrasound irradiation. A series of 3-substitutedphenyl-1-thia-tetrazopentaleno[1,2-b] naphthalene 4(a-d) and 2-substitutedphenyl-1-thia-pentazopentaleno[1,2-b] naphthalene 5(a-d) were synthesized via., the reaction of 2-aminothiazoles 2(a-d) and 2-aminothiadiazoles 3(a-d) with 2,3-dichloro quinoxaline 1 in ionic liquid without using any catalyst. This protocol has the advantages of easier workup, milder reaction conditions, high yields, and environmentally benign procedure over traditional methods. The synthesized compounds 4(a-d) and 5(a-d) tested for their anti-fungal activity and these compounds were characterized by IR, NMR and Mass spectral analysis.
