: The goal of this study is to study the clinical spectrum of hemophiliac children (age <18 years) in Beni-Suef university hospital. A cross-sectional study conducted in the pediatric hematology clinic of Beni-Suef university hospital, over a period of 12 months. Out of a total of 112 cases enrolled, 91% were diagnosed as hemophilia A. While (9%) were diagnosed as hemophilia B. Positive family history was found in (46%) of cases. The mean age of onset of symptoms and diagnosis was 1.7 ± 1.4 and 3.8 ± 3.8 years, respectively. ), the most common bleeding symptom was bruises (86.5), the most serious was intracranial hemorrhage (9.6%). While haemarthrosis was in (7.7%).Conclusion: Occurrence of posttraumatic bleeds and gum bleeds in an otherwise normal child should warn the clinician for evaluation of hemophilia. Hemophilias are distributed worldwide and have heterogeneous presentation depending upon the disease severity. Knowledge of the spectrum of presentation of hemophilia in the local population helps in early diagnosis and planning of management.

: Β- thalassemia major (β-TM) is one of the most common inherited single gene disorder .Children with Thalassemia frequently have poor growth and delayed pubertal development. Selenium and manganese are factors responsible for growth and puberty disorders in thalassemic patients. Assessment of serum levels of selenium and manganese in patients with thalassemia in Pediatric Haematology Clinic in Beni Suef University Hospital. Blood was taken from 50 pediatric patients with b thalassemia major, and 50 normal children as controls all were subjected to full history taking and full examination and investigation was done in the form of CBC, serum Ferritin , serum Selenium and Manganese . Patients with β- thalassemia major have high serum manganese level as compared to normal controls with P value of (0.000), while serum selenium level is insignificant as compared to normal controls with P value of (0.119)

: Varicocele is the most common cause of male infertility. Alpha-glucosidase (α-GLUC) is normal constituent of human semen produced mainly in epididymis and is evaluated as a marker for seminal quality. The aim of this study was to assess seminal α-GLUC in infertile men with varicocele and post varicocelectomy. This study was conducted at Beni-Suef University Hospital. Sixty Egyptian male participants were divided into Group I: Fertile normozoospermic (n=30) as healthy control, Group II: Infertile oligoasthenoteratozoospermic (OAT) with varicocele (n=30) who underwent varicocelectomy, follow up for 3 months and were classified as Group III: Infertile OAT post varicocelectomy. Semen analysis was performed manually and seminal α-GLUC was assayed by Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). Males with varicocele showed statistically significant decrease regarding sperm count, percentage of motile sperms and percentage of normal sperm forms when compared to healthy subjects. Semen parameters showed significant improvement after varicocelectomy. Seminal α-GLUC was statistically significantly higher among fertile normozoospermic men and post varicocelectomy when compared to infertile OAT men. Statistically significant positive correlation was found between α-GLUC level and semen parameters. Moreover, α-GLUC men, respectively (p<0.001). In conclusion, seminal α-GLUC could be suggested as marker for judging quality of semen in infertile men with varicocele where varicocelectomy was found to improve α-GLUC level suggesting it to have a role in fertility among men.

: The goal of this study is to assess HFNC oxygenation and compare the efficacy of high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) to noninvasive ventilation (NIV) on oxygenation in patients with acute hypoxemic respiratory failure. The patients were randomly grouped into two groups, 20 in each group. Group 1: treated by high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) and group 2: treated by non-invasive ventilation. There was a statistically significant difference regarding P a O 2 /FiO 2 at baseline and at the end ( P-value < 0.001) in both groups indicating improvement of oxygenation in both groups. There was a statistically significant difference between the two groups regarding the P a O 2 and P a O 2 /FiO 2 ratio (P-value < 0.05) at the end of the trial however the degree of oxygenation improvement was significantly higher with NIV group. The conclusion of our study: the use of high flow nasal cannula is effective in improving oxygenation but NIV was superior to HFNC.
