Use of Backcalculated Falling Weight Deflectometer Modulus for Detecting Foundation Problems Caused by Rubblization of Concrete Pavements 用反算落锤挠度计模量检测混凝土路面碎石地基问题

In 1998, two rubblized-pavement sections of Interstate 10 in Florida failed prematurely and showed severe rutting. During and after rubblization, large amount of water was observed flowing from edge drains next to the failed areas. Falling weight deflectometer measurements were taken immediately after rubblization, as well as one month and three months later. The backcalculated base and subgrade moduli showed softened sections immediately after rubblization, with a recovery period in excess of one month. A detailed study of the conditions leading to failure showed that the failure of the sections was likely due to the development of positive pore pressures in the base and subgrade during rubblization. These positive pore pressures lead to poor compaction after rubblization and severe rutting with localized potholes immediately after the first holiday traffic. Further analysis of the backcalculated moduli also showed that the problem was compounded by the absence of a tack-coat between the asphalt concrete and the rubblized layer, leading to poor load transfer to the lower layers. Flexible Airport Pavement Evaluation for New Generation Aircraft Using ILLI-PAVE-Based Concepts 基于il - pave概念的新一代飞机柔性机场路面评估

The ILLI-PAVE axi-symmetric (single wheel) non-linear Finite Element model is proposed to evaluate the pavement structural suitability for aircraft incorporating new complex landing gears. Two procedures are presented to extend ILLI-PAVE single wheel solutions to multiple wheels. Several transfer function models are proposed to assess the load-induced pavement distress potential. Three levels of material characterization are recommended which address the accuracy/reliability of the evaluation process. For the covering abstract see ITRD E118503.

Bearing Capacity of Flexible Road Structures Reinforced with Steel Fabrics 钢织物加固柔性道路结构承载力研究

The EU-project REFLEX, "Reinforcement of Flexible Road Structures with Steel Fabrics to Prolong Service Life" is a three-year study (1999-2002) with the main objective to develop a new methodology of road construction and rehabilitation with the use of steel reinforcement fabrics. The result will be gained through a mix of work comprising experimental as well as theoretical work. Of great importance is accelerated pavement testing and test roads to verify the results of the laboratory work and to validate and calibrate theoretical models. Accelerated tests were carried out with the Heavy Vehicle Simulator HVS-NORDIC. Further within the frame of the project a number of test roads, some already existing and some built during the project, were investigated. This paper presents the performance and results from some of the full-scale tests. For the covering abstract see ITRD E118503.
