Optimization of Xylanase Activity in the Presence of Salts of Different Metals for the Pulping of Indigenous Non-Woody Raw Materials (Gossypium Arborium) 不同金属盐存在下木聚糖酶活性的优化研究

This study was conducted to optimize the process of degradation of agricultural wastes using xylanase by pulping. The cotton stalk was treated with enzyme and sugar with different concentration was obtained. The substrate concentration, incubation time, cofactors and activators on xylanase were investigated in the pulping and bleaching process. The study presents results that at pH 6.0 with time span (3, 6 and 9 hours) of incubation produced 56 mg/ml, 75 mg/ml and 112.5 mg/ml sugar respectively. While at pH 7.0 with time duration (3, 6 and 9 hours) of incubation 64 mg/ml, 75 mg/ml and 150 mg/ml of sugar was produced and at pH 8.0 with time duration (3, 6 and 9 hours) of incubation produced 64 mg/ml, 220 mg/ml and 225 mg/ml sugar. There was no significant change in production of sugar at pH 9.0, where during the time period (3, 6 and 9 hours) of incubation 30 mg/ml, 37 mg/ml and 45 mg/ml of sugar was produced respectively. While metal salts are good activators, for the time period of 3, 6 and 9 hours of incubation 56 mg/ml, 64 mg/ml and 90 mg/ml of sugar was produced. This work provides an efficient method for organic waste disposal using an environment-friendly approach with a wide industrial application for welfare of society.

Seasonal Population Fluctuations in Some Non-Passeriformes at Marala Head, Pakistan 巴基斯坦马拉拉头一些非过路动物的季节性种群波动

Point count method was used to determine the relative abundance of non-passerine species at Marala wetlands (District Sialkot, Pakistan) during different calendar months between October, 2000 and September, 2001. Six species (Hoopoe, Lapwing, Spotted Owlet, Osprey, Indian Roller and Indian Nightjar) were recorded. Osprey and Spotted Owlet appearing in smaller numbers and Red Wattled Lapwing as a dominant resident. All the species were resident with some variation in population sizes during different seasons, though Osprey was a winter visitor.

An Annotated Checklist of Butterflies at Elevated Protected Areas of Pakistan 巴基斯坦高架保护区蝴蝶注释清单

Different vegetation types, cater to the needs of butterflies at different stages of their life cycle. Some caterpillars are specific in their diet and egg-laying, such as the caterpillar of the Monarch butterfly, which mainly consumes leaves of milkweed and hence prefers laying eggs on this plant (Faldyn et al., 2018). This entomological research was undertaken at protected areas of Pakistan that include Dhirkot Nature Reserve, Pir Chanasi National Park, Banjosa Game Reserve, Pir Lasura National Park and Tolipir National Park. Forty-four different species of butterflies were recorded from the study area. The highest diversity of butterflies was observed from PCNP (34) and least from PLNP (15).

Insects play a vital role for proper functioning of forest ecosystem, including positive roles as pollinators, seed dispersers, genetic linkers and detrimental effects by feeding on and/or killing trees. The present study was conducted to find insect association with plants in rural areas of Dhirkot. The study was conducted from March, 2019 to September, 2019. The sampling was carried out by line transect method. Thirty transects were taken for sampling insects. Sixty-five species of insects in association with 150 plants were recorded.

Effect of Homofermentative Inoculant on Fermentation Characteristics and Nutritive Values of Corn Silage 同种发酵孕育剂对玉米青贮发酵特性及营养价值的影响

An in vitro study was planned to assess the effects of a homofermentative microbial inoculant on the fermentation parameters and nutritive value of corn silage. The inoculant was applied at concentrations of 5x10cfu/g of forage (T1), 1x10cfu/g of forage (T2) 1.5x10cfu/g of forage (T3) and a negative control group (T0) without bacterial inoculant in three replicates each. At day 3, 7, 45 and 90 of the experiment individual buckets were opened to characterize the material, quick acidification, dry matter recovery, and aerobic stability of silage respectively. The temperature of the trial samples was 32.75±1.92 throughout the trial duration. A rapid and significant reduction in pH even at third day of trial from 6.5 to 3.61 in the treatment (T2 and T3) groups and remained consistent till 90 day of experiment (with non-significant fluctuations) when compared with control group (6.5 to 5.0). The levels of lactic acid, acetic acid and propionic acids were significantly (P<0.05) higher for treatment groups (i.e. T2 and T3) than the T1 and T0 groups and almost stabilized till 90 day of the trial. A consistency in dry matter contents were observed at 3rd, 7th and 90th day of trial for T2 and T3 treatment groups. As far as the crude protein contents are concerned, a nonsignificant reduction was observed in treatment groups. Overall, inoculant shows nutritive stability and consistency of acids produced at 1x10cfu/g and 1.5x10cfu/g inclusion levels of inoculant.

Knowledge and Attitude of Nurses About Palliative Care 护士对姑息治疗的知识和态度

Palliative care enhances the quality of life. To improve the quality of life, it is necessary for nurses to have good knowledge and attitude towards palliative care. It is imperative that nurses provide quality care to terminally ill and chronically sick patients. The present study was designed to assess the knowledge and attitude of medical staff nurses about palliative care in cancer. This crosssectional, descriptive study was conducted in Mayo Hospital, Lahore and Jinnah Hospital, Lahore with sample size of 300 registered nurses by using the simple random sampling technique. Inclusion and exclusion criteria was used. Data was collected from the nurses who have more than one-year job experience. The statistical analysis results showed that only 43.5% of respondents agree on when the palliative care is needed to be provided. Over all in the study, nurses were less aware about palliative care. Most of the nurses distorted the term palliative care. They become confused about the term palliative care and dying patient care.

Habitat Utilization of Field Rats in Crop Fields and Adjacent Natural Vegetation in District Rawalpindi 拉瓦尔品第区农田及邻近自然植被田鼠生境利用

Current study was designed to assess habitat utilization of field rats in crop fields and adjacent natural vegetation in District Rawalpindi. The rodents are widely distributed and a serious agricultural pest in Pakistan. Relative abundance of rodent populations changes seasonally under field conditions. The field trials were conducted in district Rawalpindi of the Pothwar area, Pakistan. Wild vegetation plays an important role for providing shelter/cover to the rodent during non-crop season. The dominant wild vegetation recorded from field boundaries were: Cynodon dactylon, Achyranthes aspera, Aerva javanica Saccharum griffithii, Dactyloctenium aegyptium, Dichanthium annulatum, Desmostachya bipinnata, Imperata cylindrical, Ziziphus nummularia, Sorghum halepense and Capparis deciduas. This vegetation provides shelter and food to rodents when there is no cultivation or at an early stage of crop growth.

The rodents are widely distributed and a serious agricultural pest in Pakistan. Relative abundance of rodent populations changes seasonally under field conditions. The field trials were conducted in district Rawalpindi of the Pothwar area, Pakistan. Wild vegetation plays an important role for providing shelter/cover to the rodent during non-crop season. The dominant wild vegetation recorded from field boundaries were: Cynodon dactylon, Achyranthes aspera, Aerva javanica Saccharum griffithii, Dactyloctenium aegyptium, Dichanthium annulatum, Desmostachya bipinnata, Imperata cylindrical, Ziziphus nummularia, Sorghum halepense and Capparis deciduas. A PRELIMINARY STUDY ON POPULATION OF SOME PASSERIFORMES AT MARALA HEAD 标题马拉腊头几种过叶虫种群的初步研究

Passerines are perching birds of order Passeriformes representing half of the diversity of birds (Sibley and Monroe, 1990). There are total 6,600 species identified under 140 families declaring Passeriformes as the largest order of birds. Three hundred and thirteen species of Passeriformes were reported by Roberts (1992) from Pakistan but according to check list of birds of Pakistan there are more than 400 species of Passeriformes in Pakistan (Clements, 2019). They have significant ecological importance in an ecosystem and are mostly omnivores except the shrikes which are carnivorous. This study was done to form a preliminary checklist of Passeriformes at Marala Wetlands from October 2000 to September 2001. Census of the passeriformes was conducted on monthly basis by physically exploring the starting points from the three rivers (Kikar post, Kalyal and Rangpur Kuri) to Marala Head. Four families (Dicruridae, Passeridae, Ploceidae and Sylviidae) belonging to the order of Passeriformes were observed. Only one species was observed from each family.

The present study was designed to find species composition and diversity of insects in (Cultivated area, wild area, suburban) existing at different trophic level of food chain in Bagh. The study was conducted from November, 2017 to September, 2018. Fifty-two species of insects belonging to 33 families were recorded. The diversity of insects in all studied area were same but significant difference in density of insects was found.
本研究旨在了解巴格县(栽培区、野生区、郊区)不同食物链营养级昆虫的种类组成和多样性。该研究于2017年11月至2018年9月进行。共记录昆虫33科52种。各研究区昆虫多样性基本一致,但昆虫密度差异显著。

PHYTOLOGICAL STUDY OF FRESHWATER WETLAND ECOSYSTEM OF BAJWAT AREA 巴杰瓦特地区淡水湿地生态系统的生理学研究

Freshwater wetlands are individual ecosystems that support a variety of wildlife, vegetation and microscopic life. The type of plants that exist in these areas describe the physico-chemical characteristics of their locality and vice-versa. This study was carried out at Marala wetlands in Bajwat Game Reserve. The study found 39 species of higher plants in the areas of the wetland and its associated terrain. The total species were arranged into 5 vegetation types, named on the basis of the dominant plant species, with their own composition of the species and present in different habitat conditions. The vegetative community Phragmites karka constituted an association of 8 plant species; Juncellus laevigatus had 10, Typha angustata had 13, Aeluropus lagopoides and Cyprus comylomeratus had 9 species each.
