Abstract: The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of honokiol on induced hamster buccal pouch (HBP) squmase cell carcinoma (SCC). Subjects and methods: Thirty hamsters were used and divided into three group (s) (G (S) ), 10 each. GI (normal) was left untreated, the right HBP in GII were painted with 0.5% DMBA (3times/week/14weeks). GIII was treated as GII, in addition, they received honokiol. After termination of experiment, the hamsters were clinically examined, then, euthanized. After that, HBP was excised and routinely prepared for histological examination using hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) stain to record the histopathological findings and the depth of invasion, and histochemically examination utilizing AgNOR stain and picrosiures red stain as proliferative and invasive marker respectively, to record the mean area percentages for statistical analysis. Results: Gross and histopathological observations revealed variable changes in GIII compared to GII. The statistical analysis results, for the depth of invasion, revealed high significant difference between GII and GIII, with p-value:<0.001. Regarding the AgNOR stain, there was high significant difference between GI and GII and, also, between GII and GIII with p-value: <0.001. The polarizing colors of collagen fibers recorded significant difference between GI and GII, GI and GIII, GII and GIII with p-values: 0.042, 0.200, and: 0.175 respectively. The area fraction of the collagen fibers recorded high significant difference between GI and GII and, also, between GII and GIII with p-values: <0.001 for both. Conclusions: Honokiol significantly inhibited of invasion, proliferative activity and tumor progression in DMBA induced HBP SCCS.

Objective: The aim of the present study was to adjunct the healing of intra bony periodontal deep pockets using minimal invasive technique and materials (injectable platelet rich fibrin-I PRF-). Subjects & Method: A total of 70 medically healthy adult subjects with chronic periodontitis in a randomized controlled clinical trial were divided into 3 groups; PRP group, iPRF group & control group. PRP preparation: Two Acid citric dextrose (ACD) 8.5 ml tubes of whole blood were centrifuged at 2000 rpm for 7 min at room temperature using Heraeus Megafuge 16R centrifuge. IPRF preparation: Two tubes (without anticoagulant) of 10 ml of whole blood were centrifuged at 700 rpm for 3 min at room temperature using Heraeus Megafuge 16R centrifuge. Results: Postoperative evaluation: I-PRF group showed the highest reduction of probing depth from baseline, while PRP group came second followed by the control group which had the lowest reduction in probing depth. Conclusion: the repeated injection of i- PRF showing a stronger and more durable effect, since it has number of growth factors which are responsible for tissue regeneration capable of inducing fibroblast behavior.

Objective: The present study was performed to evaluate immediate implant placement with socket-shield technique versus using bone graft filling the jumping gap in the form of sticky bone in maxillary aesthetic zone. Subjects and Methods: Sixteen patients were included in this study (n=16), they were divided into two groups: group (I): eight patients were subjected to socket shield procedure with immediate implant placement. Group (II): eight patients were subjected to immediate implant placement with sticky bone in the jumping gap. After surgery each patient were evaluated clinically for: pain values, esthetic results using pink esthetic score (PES) and implant stability using Osstell device. All patients received immediate and 6 months postoperative CBCT to assess bone density and the dimensional changes in the labial bone plates. Results: The mean vertical bone loss value after 6 months in group I was 0.28 ± 0.13 mm contrary to group II which was 0.46 ± 0.19 mm which was statistically significant. The mean horizontal bone loss value after 6 months in group I was 0.17 ± .099 mm while in group II it was 0.25 ± 0.13 mm which was statistically not significant. Conclusion: Both socket shield technique and using the sticky bone to fill the jumping gap preserved the labial bone thickness and height with superiority of socket shield in preservation of its height.
