AbstractThe article gives brief information about the most common kaolin raw deposits of the Republic of Belarus. Thermal and dilatometric characteristics of natural kaolins and kaolins enriched by clarification method of “Sitnitsa” and “Dedovka” deposits are studied in detail. It is found that these raw materials are industrially prospective in terms of its using in the production of silica-alumina refractories (semiacid and chamotte).

NDT assessment of existing concrete structures: spatial analysis of rebound hammer results recorded in-situ 既有混凝土结构无损检测评估:现场记录回弹锤结果的空间分析

AbstractA comparative spatial analysis of surface hardness of structural concrete is introduced. Main objective of the paper is to make a repeatability comparison of three types of the still most popular non-destructive testing devices for concrete: L-type original Schmidt rebound hammer, N-type original Schmidt rebound hammer and N-type Silver Schmidt rebound hammer. Results indicate that the surface hardness measurement uncertainty is related to the weight of the hammer mass and is apparently not related to the impact energy of the rebound hammer devices. It is observed that the measure of surface hardness for the Silver Schmidt rebound hammer (Q-value) does not have positive correlation to the original rebound index (R). Results indicate the best performance of the N-type original Schmidt rebound hammer in terms of stability and normality of data. Geostatistical analysis of the measured data (in terms of empirical semivariograms) highlights different statistical behaviour for the mechanical recording r...

AbstractThis paper presents an engineering survey based on experience of the authors during design and expertise of complex building structures in period of 2000–2014. Legal, organizational and technical aspects in a procedure of changes in structural design documentation are investigated. Separate actions for implementing changes according to legislative documents in Lithuania in technical and working structural projects are presented by a general algorithm. Actual questions about sequence in proceeding with local and global analytical calculations during designing of complex structures and peculiarities of processing revised structural drawings and text documents are described in this paper. Relevance of the subject is illustrated by an example of a successful decision in solving common construction and design problems of an office building in Vilnius. Using the new Fibre Contact Element Method for dynamic structural analysis 采用新的纤维接触单元法进行结构动力分析

AbstractIn literature, there are many methods proposed for structural analysis based on discrete element formulations, mainly for nonlinear problems. One of these new methods is the Fibre Contact Element Method (FCEM). Many of these methods have been used for structural dynamic analysis problems. However, there are some questions about their precision in capturing the dynamic elastic response of structures when comparing to methods based on continuous models, like the well known Finite Element Method (FEM). For this reason, the results obtained with FCEM were extensively compared with FEM results and with laboratorial tests, to better understand the performance of this new method in capturing the elastic dynamic response of structures. Results indicate that this kind of discrete methods are able to determine the vibration modes of a structure with equal or better precision level than the obtained with FEM. AbstractSteel I-shaped beams with web openings of shapes like hexagonal, circular and rectangular at regular intervals have been used since last 60–70 years. Therefore aim of this paper is to examine the behaviour of steel I-beams with rectangular web openings by performinganexperimental and parametric study. A parametric study based on finite element analysis consists of effect of fillet radius, aspect ratio of rectangular openings, stiffeners position around the openings and effect of positions of openings on load carrying capacities of steel beam with rectangular web openings was carried out by using a commercial finite element software ANSYS v.12. An overall study of such type of beam was carried out and results shows that rectangular openings having fillet radius either 2 times thickness of web or 25 mm (whichever is minimum), aspect ratio of 1.6 and reinforcement either in the form of horizontal or vertical stiffeners around the web openings found to be very effective. AbstractThe first part of the paper shortly presented developments of multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) methods and general data about their use in civil engineering, i.e. distribution by years, countries, authors and journals (Zavadskas et al. 2015). The current part of the paper focuses on MCDM application areas and domains. Web of Science Category “Engineering Civil” in Thomson Reuters Web of Science Core Collection academic data base is searched for a topic of MCDM. Only articles and review document types are selected for a detailed survey. They are grouped by Research Areas as presented in Web of Science data base. The most numerous research areas as Construction Building Technology, Transportation, Water Resources and Engineering (other topics) are analysed in detail. Research domains and solved problems are described as well as applied MCDM methods are highlighted. A total of 114 articles are reviewed, showing a wide possibilities of applying MCDM methods for civil engineering problems.

The impact of rubber crumb on the mechanical and chemical properties of concrete 橡胶屑对混凝土力学和化学性能的影响

Various works have been carried out on both the physical and mechanical properties of rubberized concrete in previous research. But the chemical composition of rubberized concrete has not been fully investigated. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive x-ray spectrum (EDX) analysis were used to determine the element composition and the peak intensity of chemical elements in the waste rubber concrete. The SEM and EDX analysis results showed that, ferrous iron, oxygen, calcium, and silicon were the dominant elements, and these elements reduced as more waste rubber were added to the concrete. Carbon and sulphur elements increased as rubber crumbs were added to the rubberized concrete. The work concluded that the presence of rubber crumb in the concrete samples contributed to both mechanical and chemical changes in the property of rubberized concrete.

Application of the EVM method and its extensions in the implementation of construction objects EVM方法及其扩展在构造对象实现中的应用

AbstractSurpassing of the planned budget and delivery time is a common feature during the implementation of building investments in Poland. Only a small number of companies use effective methods of project monitoring during investment performance. One of the popular tools used to control projects with regard to cost and time is the earned value method (EVM). There is, however, no detailed guidance how to deploy the method to the specific characteristics and conditions during the execution of building investments. This fact has contributed to this paper, which presents the results of application and adaptation of the earned value method (EVM) and its further extensions in the control of building projects during their execution (with regard to cost and time), prediction of the final duration and costs, and presentation of the effects resulting from calculations. The analyses were performed in terms of the contractor for 5 selected completed and ongoing building projects in Poland.

Experimental and numerical investigations on historical masonry wall specimens tested in shear-compression configuration 剪切压缩状态下历史砌体墙体试验与数值研究

AbstractThe paper presents the experimental investigation carried out on wall specimens reproducing the ancient masonry of several monumental building located in the old city centre of L'Aquila (Italy) and damaged by the April 2009 earthquake. The wall specimens were prepared in accordance with the traditional technique, using original stone elements and typical poor mortar. Subsequently, the specimens were consolidated with mortar injections. Other specimens were also reinforced with Ultra High Tensile Strength Steel wires applied as coating technique (not wrapped). Shear-compression tests were carried out on the wall specimens to evaluate the effects of the reinforcements both in terms of final stiffness and strength of the specimens. A non-linear Finite Element Model (FEM) was developed to reproduce the experimental tests and to better understand the damage phenomena.
