TOWARDS AN OPTIMIZATION OF URBAN LIGHTING THROUGH A COMBINED APPROACH OF LIGHTING AND ROAD BUILDING ACTIVITIES 通过照明和道路建设活动的结合,实现城市照明的优化

The objective of this work is to develop tools and methods for managers, lighting designers and road builders to optimize lighting both in interurban and urban areas. The goal is a complete characterization of the photometry of a large pavement sample panel, according to the criteria usually used in lighting such as Q0 and S1 and a characterization with an observation angle more adapted to the urban environment. In this contribution, the results of the initial characterisation of the pavement sample panel at 1° are presented.

A PRELIMINARY EXPLORATION OF DAYLIGHTING SIMULATION IN CHINESE TRADITIONAL SIHEYUAN WITH WINDOW PAPER 用窗纸模拟中国传统四合院采光初探

Window paper plays an important role in interior daylighting of Chinese traditional architecture. But there’s a lack of attention in the conservation practices of historic buildings, and existing studies rarely focus on the combination of architectural space and window paper using simulation methods. Therefore, this study compares Gaoli paper (typically used as window paper in China) with glass on their daylighting features in Siheyuan – a Chinese traditional folk house, using methods of static and climate based dynamic simulation, assisted by optical measurement and a validation experiment. The result shows that the use of Gaoli paper can help increase the overall uniformity of interior daylighting, and improve the shadow areas near the window, with little loss of light in relatively inner areas. Further studies are still required both in the paper’s optical properties and different scenes of daylighting in Chinese traditional architecture.

AN UNCERTAINTY ANALYSIS OF PHOTOMETRIC RESPONSIVITY BASED ON SPECTRAL IRRADIANCE RESPONSIVITY 基于光谱辐照度响应度的光度响应度不确定度分析

The uncertainty for photometric responsivity calibrated with the tunable lasers in photometry setup (TULIP) at Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) is presented. The measurement and the uncertainty calculation presented were done in preparation for the upcoming new traceability chain for luminous intensity at PTB. Regarding the new traceability a comprehensive uncertainty calculation is needed to take into account all steps of the traceability chain. The components of the measurement model are described and the correction factor for bandwidth and the inclusion of correlations are evaluated in detail. Assumptions that can help accessing unknown spectral correlations are described and their effect on the measurement uncertainty of photometric responsivity is calculated.

OFFICE WORKER’S SATISFACTION WITH THE LIT ENVIRONMENT 上班族对照明环境的满意度

Lighting has been proven to influence human directly and indirectly. In addition to office worker’s needs of lighting conditions, it is essential to investigate office worker’s preferences regarding the lit environment. The objective of this paper was to identify lighting parameters which relate to overall satisfaction with lighting in a cross-country field study, based on subjective data. Two field studies were performed (the Netherlands: spring 2016 and Italy: spring 2018). The Office Lighting Survey (OLS) was distributed to gather data on office worker’s satisfaction with lighting. In both field studies, the significant correlation between overall satisfaction with lighting and the evaluations of the lighting conditions for all work tasks highlights that lighting conditions need to be examined for every work task. In addition, the OLS results demonstrated that the light aspects ‘illuminance’, ‘uniformity’, and ‘luminance’ are highly important. This is in accordance to what the CIE proposed: describing the total lit environment and not individual elements within it.

TUNNEL INTERIOR LIGHTING FOR SAFETY IN TWO-WAY TRAFFIC 隧道内部照明,保证双向交通安全

This paper proposes a tunnel interior lighting system for safety in two-way traffic on highways. The target tunnel had longitudinal slopes with sag (vertical curve) of 4% at the maximum, which had been the concern leading to a rear-end collision in speed degradation of a preceding car and a serious front collision in the two-way traffic. Since 2010 in Japan, many tunnel lighting systems had been replaced by LED luminaires, which in some cases resulted in uneven luminance distribution of the road surface and discomfort glare even in the tunnels considered the CIE recommended criteria including uniformity of road surface luminance and a glare restriction (CIE 2004). Considering these condition, therefore we reviewed lighting system requirements in the tunnel with two-way traffic.

RETINAL EXPOSURE ASSESSMENT - HORIZONTAL OR VERTICAL ALPHA IRRADIANCE OR ILLUMINANCE? 视网膜暴露评估-水平或垂直α辐照度或照度?

There have been a number of methods to measure ambient illumination for the purpose of evaluating both visual and non-visual effects in a given environment. With the discovery of the photosensitive retinal ganglion cells, much of the attention has related to the most relevant spectral functions, and this was also the focus of the recently published CIE Standard, S026:2018, “System for Metrology of Optical Radiation for ipRGC-Influenced Responses to Light.” However, S-026 also notes that the field-of-view of the subject observer significantly affects the actual retinal exposure. It is therefore important to review the spatial aspects of retinal exposure. Since the head is normally upright, many have suggested measuring vertical (rather than horizontal) illuminance (lux) or field-averaged luminance (cdꞏm-2). However, perhaps both measures have merit, since the human visual field is actually aimed downward in most settings. Measurements of spectral reflectance within this field can be most revealing.

Sliney","doi":"10.25039/X46.2019.OP22","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.25039/X46.2019.OP22","url":null,"abstract":"There have been a number of methods to measure ambient illumination for the purpose of evaluating both visual and non-visual effects in a given environment. With the discovery of the photosensitive retinal ganglion cells, much of the attention has related to the most relevant spectral functions, and this was also the focus of the recently published CIE Standard, S026:2018, “System for Metrology of Optical Radiation for ipRGC-Influenced Responses to Light.” However, S-026 also notes that the field-of-view of the subject observer significantly affects the actual retinal exposure. It is therefore important to review the spatial aspects of retinal exposure. Since the head is normally upright, many have suggested measuring vertical (rather than horizontal) illuminance (lux) or field-averaged luminance (cdꞏm-2). However, perhaps both measures have merit, since the human visual field is actually aimed downward in most settings.
