"The Boxtrolls" is a stop-motion feature based on Alan Snow's best-selling novel Here Be Monsters. Beneath Cheesebridge's cobblestone streets dwell the Boxtrolls, who come out at night and steal what the townspeople hold most dear. At least that's the legend residents have always believed.

The main challenge was to create Monty, a fully CG penguin who would behave authentically within the natural world and deliver a performance of real emotion to enhance the storytelling. One element to achieve this and add greater realism involved creation of an intricate feather system to convey expressiveness.
