In 1960 Quine put forward the famous proposition of “indeterminacy of translation” on the basis of naturalistic language concept, behaviorism theory of meaning and semantic holism. This proposition has had a broad and far-reaching influence in philosophical and translation studies, and has made vital contributions to the philosophical study of translation. However, there are many theoretical defects in the theory of naturalism, behaviorism, and semantic holism on which the proposition is based. In addition, the proposition itself has a lot of doubts, so the proposition is unreliable.

In order to meet the people’s aesthetic needs of higher level, the methods and means of the art design need to be innovated, so as to make the results of art design look more realistic and bring people a better visual enjoyment. VR technology is a virtual reality technology, the application of VR technology to the art design can innovate the way of the art design, form the realistic virtual environment and bring real experience and feeling. This paper has firstly analyzed the current situation, existing problem of art design and the VR concepts, and explored the application of the VR technology in the art design. The VR technology has applied to the art design, which can bring artists and users some advantages and provide many chances for art design creation.

This study aims to explore senior high students’ perceptions of grammar learning. The results are as follows: Students have positive attitudes and clear aims towards English grammar learning; they rely more on teachers’ lecturing in class than autonomous learning like text-based study and lack in the integrated study of extensive materials and online study; they require contextbased, systematic lecturing and interesting ways of grammar practice. Therefore, senior high school teachers need to implement the idea of key competences and take guided discovery method in teaching. They also need to present grammar items in rich and real contexts, reinforce the systematicity, relevance and fun of grammar teaching, and cultivate student’s ability in solving problems independently.

New words are entering the English language at an ever-increasing rate. This paper specifically discusses how neologisms are presented in an English-Chinese learner’s dictionary to cater for the learners’ needs. Based on Corpus of Contemporary American English (COCA), the researcher analyzes how these new words are used in the main five genres: spoken texts, fiction, magazines, newspapers and academic journals. In light of the results of the discussion and analysis, several practical suggestions are put forward to optimize the entries for neologisms in EnglishChinese learner’s dictionaries.
