As the numbers of elderly people are rapidly increasing, long-term care insurance, introduced to elevating the quality of life of the elderly and relieve the burden of their families’ support, has been in existence for 15 years. The purpose of this study was to build a theoretical foundation for elevating the quality of life of the elderly, by systematically synthesizing empirical studies on the quality of life of the elderly using long-term care services. In this study, 1,797 documents were searched by combining keywords such as and in three web databases of KCI, RISS, and e-articles published July 1, 2008-April 1, 2022. The final 30 documents were selected and analyzed, by applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria to the literature. As a result, first, it was feasible to categorize variables related to long-term care services into three factors (institutional, service, and individual factors). Second, it was confirmed that the quality of life of the elderly was directly or indirectly impacted by service satisfaction, as well as individual factors, in addition to institutional factors. Third, it was found that the quality of life of the elderly was significantly related to demographic characteristics as well as physical function, subjective health status, emotional/ psychological, and social function. Based on the results, practical and policy recommendations and follow-up research directions are suggested, to improve the quality of life of the elderly using long-term care services.

Based on Lawton & Nahemow’s Person-Environment Fit Theory, the purpose of this study was to verify the effect of the age-friendly environmental level on health promotion behavior considering the gender characteristics of the elderly living alone. Data from 『A living-lab-based occupant-responsive housing welfare service for the elderly』were used for this study, and 477 completed survey interviews were analyzed. To identify the main predictors of age-friendly environmental levels such as physical, socio-cultural, and service environment and their effects, hierarchical multiple regression analysis was conducted. Subjective health status was higher in males than in females. Second, it was found that the better the subjective health status of the male elderly living alone, the higher the health promotion behavior. On the other hand, in the case of elderly females living alone, the higher the average monthly income, the better the subjective health status, and the higher the physical environment level, the higher the health promotion behavior. Based on the results of this study, suggestions are made for social work practice and policy for the elderly and for future studies as well.

The purpose of the study was to conduct a comparison analysis of the importance and performance of case management competency as perceived by integrated case managers of Dream Start, and to develop an organizational strategy to overcome the gap between the two and increase the degree of job satisfaction. To achieve the goal, email questionnaires were conducted targeting 229 Dream Start’s integrated case managers. For means of analysis, IPA and regression analysis were conducted. The results of the study were, first, degree of importance regarding case management of integrated case managers in Dream Start averaged 4.17 of 5, and its performance averaged 3.50 of 5. Second, as a result of IPA for case management competency, competencies high in importance but lower in performance, were community network development and management. Thus, strengthening management strategies related to network development is recommended. Third, through multiple regression analysis of relationship between case management competency and job satisfaction, importance as well as performance of job competency posed statistically meaningful, positive influence on job satisfaction. With such results, promotion of professional and effective case management competency as well as increasing job satisfaction are required in the future.

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between organizational politics perception and quality of long-term care services among care workers, and to verify if the perception of organizational silence and job satisfaction serve as a parallel multiple mediating effect. Data was collected through a questionnaire survey of 230 care workers in Daegu Metropolitan City and analysis was conducted using descriptive analysis, correlation analysis and parallel multiple mediation model analysis. The main results of this study are as follow. First, it was found that organizational politics perception of care workers does not negatively impact the quality of services directly. Second, it was found that perception of organizational silence and job satisfaction have a full mediating effect, on the relationship between organizational politics perception and quality of services. Based on the overall novel findings, this study suggests strategies to increase the quality of long-term care services are necessary.

The purpose of this study was to seek an alternative approach to realizing the publicity of the social service provision system. The discussion of publicity varies from the essence and subject to the measures for realization, and the contents discussed in terms of the process of public debate and the realization of publicity through cooperative mechanisms and cultural cognitive mechanisms were reviewed. Recently, the government has been making efforts to realize publicity through the establishment of a social service center as problems such as the worsening treatment of workers, poor service quality, and violation of user human rights that have occurred due to excessive profit pursuit by for-profit suppliers. Additionally, it must consider that it is necessary to enhance the role of non-profit private service providers who have played an important role in providing social services from the beginning, and they should form a coalition as an alternative to realizing publicity. This study also reviewed if it would be possible to supplement publicity by autonomously regulating service quality by reflecting user opinions in policy decisions, and promoting innovation that increases flexibility through cultural and cognitive mechanisms.

This purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of organizational environment on the case manager expertise and the mediating effect of organizational commitment. The subjects were 300 case managers among social workers working at three welfare centers for the elderly, disabled, and social welfare centers in Seoul. As general characteristics of case managers, gender, age, case management experience, job title, number of concentrated cases, and case management training were examined. Data analysis was conducted using frequency analysis, correlation analysis, Baron & Kenny's relation analysis, and Sobel test by applying SPSS 25.0. As a result of the study, it was statistically confirmed that there is a positive (+) correlation between the case manager's professionalism, organizational commitment, and organizational environment. As a result of the Sobel test analysis, the complete mediating effect of organizational commitment was confirmed, on the effect of the organizational environment on the professionalism of case managers. In terms of demographic characteristics, 30's, three and five years in case management experience, and five and ten years in institutional experience accounted for the highest proportions. The ratio of front-line social workers in position was the highest, and six or more cases yearly in the number of case management was the highest. Two to three cases or six cases or more in the number of intensive case management was similarly distributed. Based on these results, the importance of case manager expertise was recognized, and basic data were provided to establish an organizational environment response system for effective case management intervention, as well as to present an effective practice model.

The purpose of this study was to derive a multidimensional health trajectory of Korean senior citizens from life course approach and to analyze whether socioeconomic disparities appear in each group. Data were taken from the 2nd to 7th Waves of the Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging Panel Survey (KLoSA). The study used methodology including group-based multi-trajectory and multinomial logistic regression. As a result, the study revealed five groups with different health trajectories: general aging group (41.6%), healthy aging group (18.2%), depression/cognitive disability group (18.5%), sudden decline in health group (15.6%) and severe health impairment group (6.1%). The gender, income, and assets influenced each group differently whereas education showed no meaningful significance. Specifically, low income and assets were closely related to the sudden decline group and severe health impairment group, whereas income and gender (male) were directly proportional to the status of the healthy aging group (G2). In contrast, the depression/cognitive disability group demonstrated gender (female) was a significant influencing factor but educational background, income, and assets were not related. The study suggests future intervention in health and care policies for each group of different health trajectories is necessary.
