The purpose of this study was to longitudinally analyze how the baby boomer generation's integrated preparation for old age affects the change trajectory of life satisfaction. Data were collected from the 4th to 7th years of the National Old Age Security Panel Data and analyzed with the potential growth model analysis method. The research results were as follows. First, the life satisfaction of the baby boom generation, examined through the unconditional model, showed a non-linear trajectory of change, maintaining a slightly increasing pattern over time and then slightly decreasing. Second, the effects of economic preparation for old age, emotional and social preparation for old age, and physical preparation for old age, which were examined through the conditional model, on the change trajectory of life satisfaction showed different results. The baby boomer generation's economic preparation for old age did not affect changes in life satisfaction. On the other hand, the baby boom generation who prepares for old age emotionally and socially had high life satisfaction in their early years, and the high life satisfaction showed a trajectory of change that was maintained over time. The baby boom generation, who is physically preparing for old age, showed a trajectory of change in which life satisfaction increased rapidly as time passed, although life satisfaction at the beginning was insignificant. Based on the results, a proposal was made to promote volunteer activities and lifelong education, expand social networks, and policies and services related to health promotion and disease prevention.

The purpose of this study was to expand the scope of application in the field as a therapeutic intervention by verifying the effectiveness of composition and application of a loss healing program based on Neimeyer's theory of meaning reconstruction to help the mourning process of the elderly who experienced the loss of a spouse. In order to investigate the effect of the program, a pre-post-post design of an inequality control group was used with 16 people in the experimental group and 16 people in the control group. This program was provided to the experimental group. Bereavement stress, depression, resilience, and quality of life were used as measurement tools to conduct a follow-up survey before, after, and four weeks after the end of the program. As a result of repeated measures analysis of variance to verify the interaction effect by period, bereavement stress (F=17.020, p<.001), depression (F=8.706, p<.01), resilience (F=17.209, p<.001), and quality of life (F=26.279, p<.001) were all significant. It was found that this had a positive effect on the widowed female elderly. The significance of this study is as follows. The loss healing program will help widowed female elderly reflect on the meaning of death, reinterpret the meaning of loss, reduce negative emotions, and re-adapt to daily life by having enough time for mourning. In addition, it can be used to improve the quality of life in old age by strengthening spiritual maturity, self-esteem, and feeling of happiness. In the future, it will be possible to contribute to resetting lives of bereaved victims by providing a loss-healing program and manualizing it through cooperation with local community organizations.

This study aims to find the direction of case management practice for dementia clients and their families by analysing case management experiences of case managers in dementia safety centers. Eleven case managers (nurses and social workers) from six dementia safety centers who had performed customized case management for more than one year and agreed to participate in this study were selected as study subjects. The researcher guided subjects to describe their experiences through face-to-face and online in-depth interviews. The Colazzi method was used for qualitative analysis of interview data as this method focused on deriving common attributes of all study participants rather than individual ones. Results revealed that the structure of experiences of study participants could be categorized into four groups by identifying 17 topic collections among 44 constructed meanings. These four categorized groups were: organizational environment, stress, coping, and growth. As a result of this study, it was confirmed that organizational reorganization, such as resetting the evaluation system and standard work manual, was necessary in order to promote positive changes of the customized case management performance in a dementia safety center. This study also suggests that a public case management referring system and a cooperation model for dementia should be developed. In addition, follow-up studies are needed to establish a supervision system that can continuously monitor and improve work guidance, psychological and educational support for the case management practice process in dementia safety centers.

The aim of this study was to seek policy tasks and future improvement measures to support care services, focusing on children with disabilities in Seoul during the pandemic era. As a research method, cases of domestic and foreign care support for children with disabilities in the pandemic era and previous studies were considered. Three Delphi surveys with 20 expert panels were also conducted to analyze the demand for care service policies for children with disabilities in Seoul, the impact on service recipients and providers, and the importance and urgency of the final detailed implementation tasks. As a result of the study, it was found that responding to social death was the most urgent issue for families raising children with disabilities in the pandemic era. Based on this result, this study has the following implications. First, it is necessary to expand the support services target, such as resolving blind spots among care systems for children with disabilities. Second, it is necessary to diversify the types and contents of care services. Third, in the case of care services for children with disabilities, service participation must be through a group activity program. Additionally, support for families responsible for the growth and development of children with disabilities should be provided comprehensively.

The aim of this study was to determine whether customized elderly care services implemented in 2020 to support lives of the elderly with mild dementia had intended effects on service users. A survey of elderly people who had used customized elderly care services for at least 18 months was carried out in 25 districts of Seoul, the capital city of Republic of Korea. Using structural modeling, this study confirmed the impact of support-type and participation-type customized care services for the elderly on life satisfaction, which included activities of daily living, social network, and self-care as dual mediation variables. Results revealed that the support-type service had an impact on life satisfaction via the mediation of activities of daily living and social network as well as via the dual mediation of self-care. The elderly’s activities of daily living and social network had a positive impact on self-care, with self-care having a positive impact on life satisfaction. The most important variable influencing life satisfaction was discovered to be social network, followed by support-type service, activities of daily living, and self-care. The social network variable in particular was found to have the greatest influence on self-care. However, the use of participation-type services had no direct or indirect impact. It had no significant mediation impacts on activities of daily living, social network, self-care, or life satisfaction either. These findings might be attributed to limited contact activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic, sub-level program characteristics, and implementation errors. Based on these findings, practical policy recommendations are made to ensure that customized elderly care services can be established as an effective elderly care community service as originally intended.

In the wake of the ‘Songpa Three Mothers and Daughters’ incident in 2014, Korea has established a support system to preemptively search for those in the welfare blind spot. The central government operated a predictive model of the welfare blind spot excavation and management system to identify potential risk targets, and local governments built systems to support such targets. However, different support measures have been implemented at different local units. There has been no discussion on what kind of response is appropriate at the national level, and this study aims to fill this gap as follows: First, focus group interviews (FGIs) with experts on welfare blind spots by region were held twice in April and May 2022 to select criteria for evaluating support by region. Based on these results, we divided cities into large cities, small towns, and rural areas; selected six regions; and interviewed a total of 30 civil servants in charge of welfare blind spots from July to August 2022. This process confirmed that the support for welfare blind spots at the regional level differed depending on the size of each region, the presence or absence of public welfare projects of local governments, and the linkage with private resources. Based on these results, we would like to propose an effective regional support plan to resolve welfare blind spots.

The purpose of this study was to provide a basic practices reference for establishing a home life end of life caring system based on the community in the super-aging era, by confirming the degree of the demand for the caring at the end of the life of the elderly residing in the community as well as the attitude regarding the prior life-prolonging medical treatment decision. Regarding the collection of the data, a questionnaire survey investigation was conducted with a research assistant of 1,310 elderly age 65. Regarding the data collected, by using the SPSS 26.0 program, it was analyzed with descriptive statistics, independent t-test, the one-way ANOVA, and the Pearson correlation coefficient. Regarding the degree of the demand for the caring at the end of life in the home life of the elderly, the mean score for degree of demand was 4.09 that was higher than the middle. Additionally, the support demand for the safety promotion was the highest. The mean score regarding the attitude, in relation to the prior life-prolonging medical treatment decision was 2.98. Also, the two variables showed a positive correlation. Based on the results, regarding the system for the caring at the end of life for the elderly who had been living at home in the future, a caring system that reflects the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual demand in an integral way is needed. Additionally, the education as well as counseling regarding the prior life-prolonging medical treatment decision for guaranteeing the autonomy of the elderly, must be included indispensably.

The purpose of this study was to explore the relationships between favorableness of job conditions and organizational silence, and to examine the mediating effects of communication types on the relationships. For this study, a sample of 222 care workers working in Daegu was collected and analyzed. Frequency analyses, basic statistical analyses, and correlation analyses were used by the SPSS version 25.0, and parallel multiple mediation model was analyzed by the PROCESS Macro version 3.5. Also, bootstrapping was used for significance tests. Results showed that favorableness of job conditions didn't have a direct impact on organizational silence. In multiple mediation analyses, open communication between upper and lower parties involved as well as cooperative communication between workers had full mediating impacts on the relationships between favorableness of job conditions and organizational silence. However, the communication for quality of information didn't have mediating impacts. Based on these findings, this study discusses policy and practical implications to promote favorableness of job conditions and to decrease organizational silence.

Also, bootstrapping was used for significance tests. Results showed that favorableness of job conditions didn't have a direct impact on organizational silence. In multiple mediation analyses, open communication between upper and lower parties involved as well as cooperative communication between workers had full mediating impacts on the relationships between favorableness of job conditions and organizational silence. However, the communication for quality of information didn't have mediating impacts. Based on these findings, this study discusses policy and practical implications to promote favorableness of job conditions and to decrease organizational silence.","PeriodicalId":127751,"journal":{"name":"Korea Academy of Care Management","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116970611","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this study was to identify paths towards developing elder abuse prevention, through an in-depth exploration of the experiences of persons engaged in statutory compulsory education. Seven working-level workers, including elderly welfare facilities, long-term care institutions, and multicultural health family support centers, were recruited considering areas with a high reporting rate as well as a low participation rate in prevention education among 17 job groups obligated to report. Data were collected through unstructured in-depth interviews and analyzed, using constant comparative methods as the qualitative data analysis methods. As a result, five topics and 24 subtopics were derived, as the basis for meaningful statements. The five topics were ① the perception of elder abuse prevention education, ② effectiveness of elder abuse prevention education, ③ an education method with clear advantages and disadvantages, ④ obstacles to activating prevention education, and ⑤ paths towards improving effectiveness. Based on the results derived, an activation plan to increase the effectiveness of elder abuse prevention education is suggested.
