Diagnostic systems depend on knowledge bases specifying the causal, structural or functional interactions among components of the diagnosed objects. A framework of diagnostic knowledge base and diagnostic system is presented in this paper. It can specify knowledge bases and describe the notion of diagnosis nicely. Some important properties of the knowledge bases and diagnostic system are discussed. On the basis of above framework, a mathematical model for merging local diagnostic systems to build a globe diagnostic system is established.

Many controlled objects have large inertia, large time delay and parameter time-variance features in a thermal power plant. A decoupled internal model controller program is designed for these controlled objects. This program is to combined decoupled with the controller as a complete controller to control the controlled objects. Through the decouple analysis and steady-state error analysis, the expression of the decoupled internal model controller can be derived. The simulation results show that this controller control system has good decoupling capability and strong robustness, with a good prospect of application.

Unburned carbon in fly ash is an important parameter affecting combustion efficiency of coal-fired boiler. In view of the deficiency of feed-forward neural network soft sensor modeling on unburned carbon in fly ash from the power plant, in this paper, we make use of recurrent Elman neural network to realize dynamic modeling of the boiler combustion process. A set of operating data from a 300MW power plant boiler is used here to train and validate the soft sensor model. Then this is compared with the results of BP network. The results after comparing show that Elman network can better achieve soft sensor modeling for unburned carbon in fly ash.

In this paper, we propose a new measure of semantic similarity based on multi-prototype concepts. Our proposed concept semantic similarity is based on the prototype view in cognitive psychology, and it can measure the semantic similarity between two concepts in a way which is approaching human cognition. It provides a novel way to measure semantic similarity based on prototypes in concepts and provides a new perspective in semantic similarity measure.

Tooth isolation is a very important pre-processing step for both computer-aided dental diagnosis and automatic dental identification systems. The accuracy of tooth isolation will directly affect the accuracy of feature extraction and thereby the final results of both types of systems. This paper presents a very effective and fully automatic tooth isolation method for bitewing dental X-ray images. Our upper-lower jaw separation mechanism is based on gray-scale integral projection to avoid possible information loss and incorporates with angle adjustment to handle skewed images. In single tooth isolation, we propose an adaptive windowing scheme for locating gap valleys to improve the accuracy. Furthermore, excessive isolation-curves can be removed and separating lines can be added to indicate the locations of missing teeth. Experimental results show that our method achieves higher tooth isolation accuracy rates for both upper- and lower-jaw images, when compared to Nomir and Abdel-Mottaleb's method.

To improve the quality of healthcare services and reduce the burden on medical staff, this study proposed a homecare service platform for mobile healthcare to effectively assist medical staff in carrying out home visits and homecare services. The portability and functionality of a smart phone, aids with tasks such as data download, synchronized operation, and photo or video recording. The smart phone allows medical staff to retrieve patients' electronic medical records and complete information at any time without reviewing numerous paper documents. When medical staff needs to change the address for a patient, check the patient's condition and complication in wound healing, or verify a patient's mental status, they can use the smart phone to fill out the record forms and use digital images to record a patient's status for long-term tracking, which improve the efficiency and service quality of homecare.

In this study, an antenna selection method is studied in a precoding OFDMA uplink system for the upcoming 4G cellular era. Candidates for 4G system include WiMAX 2.0 and 3GPP L TE-Advanced. This study specifically addresses the situation that the receiver possesses limited RF modules. The common carrier frequency offset (CFO) problem is considered, which brings along the problems of inter carrier interference (ICI) and multiple access interference (MAI). This study proposes a novel method to effectively eliminate annoying MAl in a multiuser uplink system by using the R matrix, which comes after applying QR dirty paper coding (QR-DPC) to the equivalent channel response matrices. Moreover, the R matrix helps to select antenna. The BER performance of the proposed method is better than the well known Shannon-Hartley theorem.

In this paper, a novel scheme to tackle the task of near-duplicate image detection is presented. The scheme is based on a two-level image similarity measure strategy, which reduces the overall computational cost. The second-level similarity measure considering spatial position relationship can find the small similar objects in two images. Given two input images, which are represented with multiple local features, the proposed algorithm can assert whether the reference image is a near-duplicate of the query image or not. The algorithm is demonstrated on some image or video keyframe pairs with scale change, viewpoint change, blur, noise and spatial deformation, which are extracted from INRIA copy dataset, etc. The experimental results show that proposed algorithm is simple and effective.

At present, the registration of the circular seal is complex and not precise enough. This paper proposes a method for seal alignment by turning a circular seal to a rectangular seal. This method can make the registration process simple. First, this method transforms seal images from two-dimensional data into one-dimensional data. Therefore the circular seal along the radius of the image is spread out into a rectangular form and the rectangular image of this seal can be obtained. Second, longitudinal one-dimensional projection of the rectangular image is performed. Finally, the deflection angle between the reserved seal and the tested seal is obtained by calculating the difference between the one-dimensional projections of the reserved seal and the tested seal with 2 π being the circle. The experimental results show that this method obtained highly accuracy results compared with the traditional method.
