Recent electronics parts continue to decrease in size so that it is more likely to exhibit defects. Lately, computed tomography scanning technique has been introduced to provide useful tools for the internal inspection of electronic packages. In this paper, we presents a novel method for detecting solder joint defects in the 3D packaging devices. Our method is composed of three steps. First, mis-alignment during the CT scan process is corrected. Second, open solder joints, missing solder joints, and solder bridges are detected usingblob labeling procedure. Finally, head-in-pillow defect is inspected by the principal curvature analysis. The experimental results demonstrated that our method accurately detected solder joint defects within less than one second. Our method can be successfully applied to inline manufacturing, which requires rapid inspection of whole chips.

With the rapid development of modern digital broadcasting, television watches are not only more and more critical about the quality of the pictures users see on the television monitor, but they are also more and more diverse about their demand on the OSD (On Screen Display) operation interface of the digital television. Users not only ask for high precision of the sensor reception of signal from the remote control, but users have more and more demand enticing qualities of menus displayed on the television screen. This thesis will first introduce IR's different encoding and decoding methods, give a brief introduction of the circuit for receiving IR signals, and then display the wave patterns used by the remote control designed, as well giving an analyses and appraisal of these wave patterns, make preparation for appraisal of the coding source of the OSD operating interface. And then the thesis introduces the functions of different path ways that can be supported by the integrated circuits of the NOVETIC series used in the present design, and briefly introduces the software platform used by this integrated circuit and its relevant accessory tools. Finally, based on the pre-existing hardware platform, I have designed a comprehensive OSD system with a unique style, as well as a remote control operation system that befits the modern day high definition digital television.

Falling may cause serious injury, especially for the elderly, it had been proven that fall detection system using wearable devices based on tri-axial accelerator is effective and feasible. Most of the time, fall do not lead damage immediately, but the psychological burden after fall and other environment factors, could bring on serious damage when the elderly cannot get timely help. To deal with these problems, we propose an enhanced approach for fall detection based on the time series data generated by the tri-axial accelerator. Two approaches of cost sensitivity analysis are presented, including minimal risk Bayes and Neyman-Pearson method, both of them lead to a significant sensitivity enhancement. In other words, the proposed strategies mean a significant reduce in collectivity decision making risk stage, and the true non-fall activities recognition rate will be improved by via validation after classification.

The increasing use of computed tomography (CT) as a diagnostic tool creates the need for an efficient means of evaluating the performance of the CT systems now in use. Usually the metal products have the defects during manufacturing and are inevitable. In the NDT system, ability for evaluate the casting defects such as cracks and pores is also very important. In the present study, several phantoms were made for evaluating CT system and defect analysis tools. The phantoms were CT scanned, and the result of CT scan was discussed. For the accuracy matters, measurements were made and compared with real objects. It is expected that phantoms used in the present study help to validate defect detection softwares.

Multiple semantics may be bundled with a concept(CPT) or an expression composed of concepts. We extend an investigation on fundamental semantics from concepts of type (TYPE) and instance (INS) to reveal relationships of expressions and semantics on problem expressions vs. answers. Core semantics of unlimited and completeness are identified as classification characteristics for clarifying and formalizing semantics of expressions towards bridging the understanding of the integration of semantics of problem expressions and answers. An approach of semantic computation which distinguishes from current conceptual modeling and problem solving is proposed with demonstrative cases. The framework of the approach is presented from core concepts, knowledge management and problem solving perspectives.

There is many need and trial to find problem as one of processes for business and marketing. TRIZ-OTSM insists that a complex problematic situation is not a set composed of individual problems, but a network of problems according to their relationship. To find problem we analyzed two samples in informal and formal domains like Movie and Education. A sequence of finding problem is designing information diagram and applying IFR (Ideal Final Result) and finding problem using available materials. In Movie, IFR was not found and pseudo-problems like questionnaires were caught. In Education, IFR and problems were extracted roughly through information diagram. If TRIZ process will be adapted as for next steps, to find contradictions and solve the contradictions will go on. If other ways will be used to solve the problems, corresponding procedures will be done. In this paper, finding problem by various ways was experimented and the relation between information diagram and problems is meaningful.

Implementation of mobile application should be tested on the mobile platform. Since there are several mobile platforms compete in the marketplace, a lot of effort is needed to test the implementations on every platform. This research aims to develop an integrated test automation framework by which implementations on multiple heterogeneous platforms can be tested efficiently. Commonly used events in the mobile platforms are extracted and mapped into the functions of each testing framework. We extended open source test frameworks to handle the common events. By doing so, test can be performed by describing test cases in a high level without generating test code manually. The proposed integrated framework was evaluated with the implementation of several mobile applications on the Android and iPhone platforms and found that the framework is effective and valid.

Context-aware Computing has been one of the important aspects of Ubiquitous Computing, Cloud Computing, Cyber-physical Systems, etc., recently. To date, very few works can be found on formal approaches for this area. Bigraph and its related theories are introduced to formalize the modeling of context-aware systems in this paper. We use bigraphs to model the structure of context-aware system, whereas the corresponding behavior of context-aware system is modeled using bigraphical reactive system. Here we make a mapping from the elements of context-awareness to the components of bigraph. Consequently, we present an approach to translating scenarios in real life into bigraphical models. Furthermore, the formalisms are explicitly illustrated through some simple but non-trivial examples.

Tourism for a local city is one of the most important key industries. The Web contains much information for the tourism, such as impressions and sentiments about sightseeing areas. Analyzing the information is a significant task for tourism informatics. In this paper, we propose a tourism information analysis system for a local city. The target resource for the analysis is information on Twitter. First, we discuss a method to extract tweets (posted sentences) relating to the target locations and tourism events. Then, we analyze the polarity of the extracted tweets; positive or negative opinions. It is well-known as a P/N classification task in natural language processing. For the process, we employ an unsupervised machine learning approach that uses seed words. We evaluate and consider the extraction and P/N classification tasks. The experimental result about P/N classification shows the effectiveness of our method.

Empirical findings about the phenomenology of mind gained from Free Associative Experiment, has opened a new dimension of Artificial intelligence and quantum linguistics research, allowing us to create a link between a collective unconscious level and a conscious Mind. Our research methodology included constructing a database of metaphorical stimuli, randomly presenting these to participants, and tabulating FAE responses both by the participant and by the stimulus, analyzed by frequency of semantic type. The project aimed to produce a new model of knowledge representation. A latent semantics network presented here gave us a unique opportunity to discover the probabilistic nature of mind revealing itself in all languages as entangled quantum particles. Free Association Experiment (FAE) based on cognitive metaphor stimuli. It is the first NLP tool of its kind, providing a fundamentally new source of empirical data examining hidden dimension of the human mind.
