English has become important in the 4.0 era since numerous electronic devices, such as medical equipment for doctors or salespeople who interact with foreigners in malls, have English conditions. Because of the various cultures that continue to enter Indonesia, ordinary as well as oustanding school systems must learn more about English by expanding their English vocabulary, especially for students special needs, and sign language is employed as a teaching tool in exceptional schools. The purpose of this research is to learn gestures for vocabulary learning for students special needs (deaf), specifically eleventh-grade students at SLB-B YPPLB Makassar. The research method used was qualitative. The responses from observations, questionnaire sheets, and interview sessions have been reviewed by the researcher. According to the data, the first, SIBI, was used in vocabulary learning for students at the Makassar YPPLB SLB-B school because it was less complicated and better organized. Second, it could be concluded that the teacher's influence was indeed important for students, but student interaction was actually very influential on the mood and enthusiasm of students when learned in class, and the third was that using video was ineffective for them to learn because it was difficult for them to understand.

This research aimed to determine the use of Jeopardy Game learning media on Reading Comprehension Skills of Narrative Text by Eighth Grade students of UPT SPF SMP Negeri 35 Makassar. This research focused on quantitative experimental research. The population of this research was students of class VIII UPT SPF SMP Negeri 35 Makassar, totaling 282 students. Random Sampling technique was used to one class as research sample, which consisted of 28 students. The data were obtained from written tests related to reading comprehension on narrative text. The results of this study used inferential analysis of the t-test by SPSS v.16 which showed a significant effect on the students’ mean score of Reading Comprehension skill between the pretest and post-test. The mean score of the students’ Reading Comprehension on Nrrative Text enhanced from 3.39 in the pretest to 6.46 in the posttest. The significance value calculated 0.000 is smaller than 0.05 (P-value = 0.000 < 0.05). Thus, it can be concluded that Jeopardy Game learning media is effect applied to students’ Reading Comprehension skill on Narrative Text in class VIII at UPT SPF SMP Negeri 35 Makassar.
本研究旨在了解危险游戏学习媒体对小学八年级学生叙事文本阅读理解能力的影响。本研究侧重于定量实验研究。本研究对象为八级(UPT SPF SMP Negeri 35 Makassar)学生,共282人。采用随机抽样的方法,选取一个班级28名学生作为研究样本。数据来源于叙事性文本阅读理解的笔试。本研究结果采用SPSS v.16对t检验进行了推理分析,结果显示,测试前和测试后对学生阅读理解技能的平均得分有显著影响。学生叙事文本阅读理解的平均分由前测的3.39分提高到后测的6.46分。0.000计算的显著性值小于0.05 (p值= 0.000 < 0.05)。因此,可以得出结论,危险游戏学习媒体对UPT SPF SMP Negeri 35 Makassar八年级学生叙事文本阅读理解技能的影响。

ABSTRACT This research aimed at finding out the students’ speaking ability before and after using participation point system method in teaching speaking. The independent variable was using participation point system method and the dependent variable was students’ speaking achievement. The sample of the research were 36 students of class VIII6 at SMPN 8 Makassar in the second semester academic year 2021/2022. The design of this research was quantitative design and the method used in this research was pre-experimental one group pretest-posttest research.The result of the research showed that there was a difference between pre-test and post-test score of the students. Theaverage score of pre-test was 48,78 and the average score of post-test was 86,11. Based on the result can be seen that after the researcher gave treatment in post-test was higher than pre-test. Therefore, participation point system becomes an appropriate method in teaching speaking of class VIII6 at SMPN 8 Makassar. Key Words : Participation Point System, Speaking Ability

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to determine the implementation of the English day program in students' speaking skill. This research method is, applied a qualitative research, data were collected from observations, interviews, and documentation. The sample of this research is the students of class XI SMAN 18 Makassar who follow the English Club. the writer uses interview guidelines. The results of this study indicated that the English day program can improve students' speaking skills. However, the implementation of English day at SMAN 18 Makassar has not been carried out well because: some students still use Indonesian during English day, and some students are not confident to speak English with friends around them. It is recommended that the person in charge of the English Club can implement the English day program in the school environment, and tighten the applicable rules, because English day is an important program for international schools. The writer took one class from the target population for the research.The sample to be used is class XI IPA 3, the number of samples is 30 students. Data obtained from writing test. The aim of this study was to find out there was a factor that made students’ anxiety in speaking English after doing the research in VIII-8 class at SMPN 24Makassar in the 2022/2023 academic year. The approach of this study was qualitative descriptive research with using questionnaire public speaking class anxiety scale. Students’ speaking anxiety was filled by used questionnaire to electing the data. The writer took the eighth grade with 27 students from the population. The method of this study used purposive sampling technique to select a sample from the population. The results of data analysis showed that there was a factor that made students’ anxiety in speaking. The score obtained from factor of embarrassment was 225. In all factors it showed that the number of embarrassment was the highest. Factor of lack of preparation score was 55. It showed that in all factors the number of lack of preparation was lowest from the all factors. It means that factor embarrassment was the most factors that made students’ anxiety in speaking English at eighth grade students at SMPN 24 Makassar.

The aim of this study was to find out weather there was an enhancement of students’ speaking skill after implementing the labirin Board Game in eleventh grade at SMA 18 Makassar in the 2022/2023 academic year. The method used in this study was quantitative experimental research with one group pre-test-post-test research design. Speaking test used as the instruments of elicting the data. The procedure of collecting data was pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The samples of this research were the eleventh grade with 36 students. Simple random sampling was a method used to select a sample . The results of data analysis showed there was an enhancement in students' speaking skill of vocabulary, pronunciation, and fluency through the implementation of the abirin Board Game. The mean score of the students increased from 5.06 on the pre-test to 7.67 on the post-test The difference between the pre-test and the post-test was statistically significant (0.00<0.05). Based on the results of data analysis, the writer conclude that there was an enhancement after implementing the labirin Board Game on speaking skill in eleventh grade at SMA 18 Makassar.

The objective to find out the effect of using context clues in in enhancing students vocabulary building through reading text at SMPN 52 Makassar.The writer used instrument; it is a reading and vocabulary test that given (pre-test and post-test). The pre-test was used to find out data about the recognition and understanding of students’ vocabulary before implementing the context clues strategy and the post-test was carried out to find out data about the introduction and understanding of students' vocabulary after implementing the context clues strategy. The method used in this study is a pre-experiment using one class. The population in this study were all students of class VIII-DSMPN 52 Makassar, totally 28 students, so the writer took a purposive sampling technique. In addition, to analyse the data, writer used SPSS 21. The results showed that the increase in students' vocabulary recognition increased on all indicators of word recognition, such as identifying clues in multiple choice (69.23% progress) and finding word meanings (43.02% progress). The results of this study finally showed that the students' vocabulary understanding was 53.00 for their pre-test and 81.64 for their post-test. This fact shows that the students’ score in the post-test is higher than the pre-test score. It can be concluded that vocabulary learning with the context clues strategy was effective in improving vocabulary VIII-D SMPN 52 Makassar.

The pre-test was used to find out data about the recognition and understanding of students’ vocabulary before implementing the context clues strategy and the post-test was carried out to find out data about the introduction and understanding of students' vocabulary after implementing the context clues strategy. The method used in this study is a pre-experiment using one class. The population in this study were all students of class VIII-DSMPN 52 Makassar, totally 28 students, so the writer took a purposive sampling technique. In addition, to analyse the data, writer used SPSS 21. The results showed that the increase in students' vocabulary recognition increased on all indicators of word recognition, such as identifying clues in multiple choice (69.23% progress) and finding word meanings (43.02% progress). The results of this study finally showed that the students' vocabulary understanding was 53.00 for their pre-test and 81.64 for their post-test. This fact shows that the students’ score in the post-test is higher than the pre-test score. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect and response of students to the application of the map strategy character on the reading comprehension ability of class IX UPT SPF SMPN 17 Makassar. This research applied a pre-experimental research in one class pre-test and post-test. The population of this research is class IX students of SMPN 17 Makassar in the academic year 2021/2022 which consists of 165 students. The researcher took one class as a sample in this study namely class IX which consisted of 33 students. The instrument of this research is a multiple choice test. The results of this study indicated that there is a significant increase in the average score of students' reading comprehension between the pretest and posttest. The mean score of students' reading comprehension increased from 64.24 in pre-test to 79.63 in post-test. This shows that by using the character map strategy the students' reading comprehension ability increases. So this shows that the hypothesis H_1 is accepted and of course the hypothesis H_0 is rejected. The researcher concludes that the effect of using character strategy as a teaching strategy in learning English improves students' understanding ability.

The purpose of this study was to know the level of ability and interest of students class VIIl-7 of SMPN 17 Makassar in writing descriptive texts using clustering techniques. This study uses the method of description. The research subjects were students of class Vlll-7 SMPN 17 Makassar in the odd semester in the academic year 2021/2022 with a sample of 33 students. Data collection is done by giving the task of writing descriptive text. The research data collected through the test showed that the students' writing ability after the research was conducted, the students were more interested in using clustering techniques in writing descriptive texts. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be seen that the student's result is 50.27 then after getting treatment the student's pre-test score increases to 78.88 on the post-test. So it can be concluded that using the clustering technique can improve students' learning abilities in writing descriptive texts at SMP 17 Makassar.
