Applicability of ICF in hearing impaired population ICF在听障人群中的适用性

In order to characterise the extensive effects of a variety of health disorders on people, the International Classification of Functioning Disability and health (ICF) is frequently used in the disability and health sectors. The biopsychosocial model can be employed to explain how an individual interacts with their body’s structure, functions and involvement in daily activities. The ICF is also a way to facilitate patient centred care. By applying ICF in audiology, healthcare professionals can interact with one another in both clinical and research contexts. This research mainly focuses on ICF’s relevance and application to audiology and provides examples of how it should be used clinically to evaluate and treat adults with hearing loss.

Analysis of anatomy of head and neck: A study through empiricals part- II 头颈部解剖学分析:实证研究第二部分

In this study we introduce new hypothesis into the anatomical-structure, the head, and neck, neuro-embryology, the nerves and muscles, followed by the physiologic-variants, operational / surgical implications and considerations and then lastly clinical significancy of the study. The wound/damage to the cervical altruistic ganglia can elicit the syndrome-of-Horner, which is ipsilateral ptosis, miosis, and also facial scrub—anhidrosis. The torticollis-transpires as sterno-cleido-mastoid (SCM) muscle-tone abbreviates spasmodically, generating the fluctuating of the neck opposite to aomolous muscle-tome cross or control leads to in biotic if the sterno-cleido-mastoid is incapacitated, also that might be leading to fibrosis as well as margarine of ‘muscle-fiberes’. And as well turn out as a consequence of enhanced muscle - tone, and/or dystonia muscle spasms and spams, lessening from the poignant and sensitive nervousness stress and strain and tension also, and/or unanticipated behaviors. This study introduces new theory into the anatomical-structure, the head and neck, and followed by the neck. The harm or injury (damage) to the cervical benevolent ganglia might trigger “Horner-syndrome”, which is ipsi lateral ptosis, miosis, as well as “facial—anhidrosis”. Loss (damage, injury, destruction, etc.) to these anatomical-structures might cause to “first-bite-syndrome (FBS)”, with which the FB of nutrition/food is excruciating as a result in consequence of ‘autonomic-dysfunction’ attributable to traumatic-injuries within the (“deep parotid space DPS”) also exceptional cervix-ganglia (of the neck of the uterus). So, patient required to be anxious regarding variability of “phrenic-nerve” at any time. Plexiform neurofibromas (PNs) are benign tumors that grow in the nerves of people with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1), a genetic disorder that affects the development and growth of nerve cell tumors. PNs can occur anywhere in the body but are most commonly found in the skin, nerves, and bones. They can cause disfigurement and functional impairment, and may also increase the risk of malignant transformation. Treatment options include surgery, radiation therapy, and medications to manage symptoms.

A rare case of paediatric sublingual keratinous cyst 小儿舌下角性囊肿1例

The occurrence of keratinous cyst in the oral cavity is extremely rare. Keratinous cyst in the floor of the mouth is painless, doughy or fluctuant lesion and causes no symptoms until it is large enough to interfere with speech or eating. Cyst generally presents as slow and progressive growth and often not diagnosed until the second or third decade of life.We report an uncommon presentation of keratinous cyst of the sublingual space in a 6year old female child. The swelling was mimicking ranula on inspection. On complete examination, the swelling appeared as epidermoid cyst. After a routine evaluation of the sublingual mass, surgical excision was performed under general anaesthesia. This case report addresses novel information regarding simple yet effective way of managing a sublingual keratinous cyst in a paediatric patient.

Normal speech and language development depend upon a child’s ability to hear spoken language. The most important period for language and speech development is generally regarded as the first 3 years of life. Pediatric hearing loss is a major concern in India due to high incidence of hearing loss in this age, high birth rate, lack of facilities and awareness for early diagnosis. Therefore, early detection and early identification of hearing loss is very important. The study was carried out in ENT Department, Sir T Hospital, Bhavnagar. A total of 100 children <12 years of age with hearing loss who were screened with OAE (OTO acoustic emission) and BERA (brainstem evoked response audiometry). Among 100 children (<12 years of age), majority of the cases were in age group of 6 to 12 yrs. Male patients are predominantly affected than other patients. The earlier intervention, better were results. It is important to have more awareness programs focusing on importance of early hearing screening in children. This current study indicated the importance of screening for hearing loss among children.

Comparision of effectiveness of topical acetic acid instillation with topical antibiotics in madical management of tubotympanic chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) 外用抗生素与醋酸滴注治疗慢性中耳炎的疗效比较

Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media (CSOM) is typically a persistent disease, insidious in onset, often capable of causing irreversible sequel and severe destruction that clinically manifests with discharge and deafness. CSOM is a major health problem in developing countries causing serious local damage and life-threatening complications. In developing countries, it accounts for 60-80% of middle ear diseases. Its incidence to some extent depends on racial and socioeconomic factors. The study was carried out in ENT Department, Sir T Hospital, Bhavnagar. A total of 200 patients having complain of ear discharge were randomly distributed in two groups. In one group (group A) patients were treated with topical acetic acid ear drops and in other (group B) patients were treated with topical antibiotics ear drops. Among 200 patient’s majority of the cases were in age group of 18 to 30 yrs. Male patients are predominantly affected than other patients.The study was prospective and observational based on symptomatic relief of problems caused by the pathogens in CSOM by removing or killing the related pathogens and making the ear dry.

CSOM is a major health problem in developing countries causing serious local damage and life-threatening complications. In developing countries, it accounts for 60-80% of middle ear diseases. Its incidence to some extent depends on racial and socioeconomic factors. The study was carried out in ENT Department, Sir T Hospital, Bhavnagar. A total of 200 patients having complain of ear discharge were randomly distributed in two groups. In one group (group A) patients were treated with topical acetic acid ear drops and in other (group B) patients were treated with topical antibiotics ear drops. Among 200 patient’s majority of the cases were in age group of 18 to 30 yrs. The efficacy of nasolabial flap as a reconstruction modality in the surgical management of oral submucous fibrosis 鼻唇瓣重建在口腔黏膜下纤维化外科治疗中的效果

The purpose of this study was to clinically assess the efficacy of nasolabial flap for reconstruction of oral cavity defects post fibrotomy in oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF) patients. The study was implemented on ten patients with OSMF with mouth openings of less than 10 mm interincisal distance. The extent of mouth opening (inter incisal distance) along with the viability and vascularity of the flap was evaluated clinically over a period 6 months. In our study, complications like flap necrosis, flap loss, infection and obstructive sialadenitis were not observed. However, intra-oral hair growth was seen in our 7 patients, extra-oral scar at the donor site was seen in all our patients and salivary fistula formation was reported in 1 of the patient which underwent fistula repair later. Mean mouth opening of 37 mm was achieved at 6 months post-operatively, with a mean increase of 31.5 mm. No relapse was encountered, even at last follow-up. On the basis of the results, we conclude that the inferiorly based nasolabial flap is an efficacious, viable and a reliable option for reconstruction of oral cavity defects in OSMF.

A pediatric case of spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage of unknown etiology 病因不明的儿童自发性脑出血1例

Pediatric ICH peaks in the first year of life especially in neonatal period with hematological abnormalities or structural vascular disorders such as arteriovenous malformations (AVM) or aneurysms. Imaging modality of choice is NCCT head. Urgent surgery when indicated should be performed early. To evaluate the causes of spontaneous ICH in paediatric patients and reviewing the literature. We have discussed the causes of spontaneous ICH in our paediatric patient and we have discussed the management provided to this patient. Taking a detailed history from the parents and the child is important for determining any history of head injury and bleeding episodes. Despite comprehensive evaluation, it may not be possible to determine the cause of ICH in some pediatric cases.
