Investigations on ground compensation coils and their influence on the field distribution of electrically short loop antennas 接地补偿线圈及其对电短环路天线场分布影响的研究

Electrically small loop antennas are balanced devices by nature. Quite often such antennas are directly connected to a coaxial feed line e.g. the ISO/IEC 10373 test PCD antenna. The direct connection of such an antenna to the coaxial feed line leads to a mode conversion at the antenna terminals. In the present paper the influence of this mode conversion on the field distribution of an electrically short loop antenna is investigated in terms of finite element simulations applying an in-house software package. A method is introduced which allows the unbalanced mode excitation in the full wave simulation by prescribing appropriate boundary conditions.

Synthesis, resiliency and power efficiency of function programmable optical nodes 功能可编程光节点的合成、弹性和功率效率

Due to the large transmission speeds and enormous volumes of transferred data, network availability performance is one of the key issues in optical long-haul networks, comprising nodes implemented by optical cross-connects (OXCs). In this context, the design of OXCs is becoming very challenging since they have to support both legacy lower bit-rates and future highspeed super-channels by means of flexible allocation of spectral resources, and at the same time provide high availability of established connections. In this paper we study the availability and power consumption of different node architectures. We focus on the design of the new generation of synthetic programmable OXCs based on the Architecture on Demand concept which can reduce the number of utilized node components when a certain part of signals is switched at the fibre level, resulting in lower mean down time and power consumption compared to traditional node architectures.

Comparison of the CUPUS middleware and MQTT protocol for smart city services 智慧城市服务中CUPUS中间件与MQTT协议的比较

Publish/subscribe messaging pattern is often used as a communication mechanism in data-oriented applications and is becoming wide-spread, especially due to the expansion of the Internet of Things (IoT) services and applications. In addition to MQTT, which is one of the commonly used publish/subscribe protocols in the context of IoT, there are a number of other message queuing solutions, either open or proprietary. We have designed a CloUd-based PUblish/Subscribe (CUPUS) middleware solution within the framework of the FP7 project OpenIoT1 that has developed an open-source cloud platform for the IoT. CUPUS is one of the core OpenIoT components which enables flexible integration of wearable sensors and mobile devices as data sources within the OpenIoT platform. In this paper we compare MQTT and CUPUS in the context of smart city application scenarios. Smart city services pose different key-requirements on IoT publish/subscribe solutions and thus we propose a taxonomy to identify vital features of IoT publish/subscribe middleware. The comparison shows that CUPUS is more appropriate for mobile environments with frequent context changes, while it can filter out unrequired data on devices prior to being reported to backend cloud servers. The MQTT protocol proves to be suitable for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) and heterogeneous environments due to its small code footprint, low bandwidth usage and standardized interfaces. Finally we evaluate the two solutions in terms of message footprint in a real-world scenario, latency and delivery semantics.

The impact of mobile device factors on QoE for multi-party video conferencing via WebRTC 移动设备因素对webbrtc多方视频会议QoE的影响

Multi-party video conferencing has gained wide popularity, with numerous applications in both formal and informal contexts. With video conferencing being a highly interactive and resource-intensive service, challenges arise in identifying and quantifying the impact of various factors influencing end user Quality of Experience (QoE). In this paper we study QoE for mobile video conferencing, and focus on the impact of different smartphone configurations (differing in CPU, display size, and resolution) on quality ratings. We conduct subjective studies involving interactive three-party audiovisual conversations based on WebRTC technology in a natural environment over a Wi-Fi network with symmetric and asymmetric device conditions. Results clearly show the impact of different device factors on user QoE, and imply minimum smartphone requirements for three-party video conferencing as being a 2.5 GHz processor and 2GB RAM. In addition, we explore user-preferred functionalities available on the conferencing web page which improve overall user perceived quality.

Convergence in communications and E-Privacy regulatory challenges, with a local perspective 通信和电子隐私监管挑战的融合,以本地视角

The European Commission announced plans on evaluation of Directive 2002/58/EC (E-Privacy Directive) towards a possible review, but following agreement on the General Data Protection Regulation. Those plans were most recently confirmed in the Digital Single Market Strategy. In it the Commission has also shown consideration for future directions of EU e-privacy legislation that correspond to earlier expressed initiatives, particularly in the EU electronic communications sector, toward expanding its scope. Such initiatives are prompted by progressive use of relevant online (information society) services and in particular OTT communication services that could be considered functionally equivalent to electronic communication services. In this paper authors legally assess the E-Privacy Directive in particular with respect to its current scope of application, while having in mind the declared aim to ensure equivalent protection of end-users' privacy and data protection rights - regardless of technology used to deliver the relevant service. To that effect they also examine selected e-privacy rules that typically relate to business operations of information society service providers, and other rules characterized by a very close connection to the general data protection framework, which is currently in review. While acknowledging that lacking clarity in Directive's scope may cause divergent transposition and regulatory practices in the EU the authors provide a local perspective on the issue, by analyzing the Croatian legal system implementing the Directive and selected provisions, including regulatory competencies and practice. Where necessary the authors propose local improvements to ensure more clarity and legal certainty for affected businesses and users, as well as general suggestions toward further research on the future of EU e-privacy legislation.

Coupling efficiency estimation of the fully photonic receiver 全光子接收机的耦合效率估计

The paper deals with numerical modeling of the testbed for measuring the coupling efficiency of the fully photonic receiver for optical wireless communication. The numerical model is based on transformation of the Gaussian beam through optical system described by ray matrices. The design process of the testing transmitter and fully photonic receiver is discussed. Finally the coupling efficiency of the fully photonic receiver is estimated for single-mode fiber.

Cooperative spectrum sensing in real channel conditions 真实信道条件下的协同频谱感知

This paper presents the verification of the developed MATLAB-based simulator for cooperative spectrum sensing using four different real channel conditions set up between the primary and individual secondary users. Indoor-indoor, indoor-outdoor, outdoor-indoor and outdoor-outdoor are taken into consideration. In the transmitter side two types of signals are generated - the analogue FM signal and the digital 8PSK signal. Then these signals are processed using the Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP) devices. One of them is defined as a transmitter and another two for the receiver side. Two types of detectors - the energy detector and the Kolmogorov-Smirnov-based statistical detector have been implemented at the receiver for signal sensing evaluation. This system is built to insure the effectiveness of the simulator and cooperative sensing approach not only in simulated channels but also in real ones. Therefore, the achieved results are compared with simulation ones.

Then these signals are processed using the Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP) devices. One of them is defined as a transmitter and another two for the receiver side. Two types of detectors - the energy detector and the Kolmogorov-Smirnov-based statistical detector have been implemented at the receiver for signal sensing evaluation. This system is built to insure the effectiveness of the simulator and cooperative sensing approach not only in simulated channels but also in real ones. Study on mechanism and reduction approaches of delay spikes occurrence on mobile networks 移动网络中延迟尖峰产生的机理及减少方法研究

Since smartphones have spread and the transmission rate of mobile networks has accelerated, a lot of VoIP services are provided on mobile networks. Voice quality degradation due to delay spikes (i.e. sudden large increases in the packet delay) is the key issue for VoIP on mobile networks. To resolve this issue, adaptive jitter buffer control methods have been proposed to deal with delay spikes. These methods control the length of the jitter buffer in order to reduce voice quality degradation due to delay spikes. For further improving the quality of voice communication, it is effective to reduce the number of delay spikes. This paper analyzes the mechanism of delay spikes occurrence and proposes delay spike reduction approaches by controlling size and interval of voice packets on the basis of radio quality. Simulation results on the network simulator (ns-3) show the proposed approaches reduce the number of delay spikes by more than 50%.

Different aspects of Wireless sensor networks (WSN) are currently being studied. Some of the important aspects would be clustering, routing and security. This paper looks at the problems arising due to wireless routing between nodes of a medical WSN. Here, the focus is on selective forwarding (SF) attacks. As a solution, we have described a secure routing protocol with test-bed simulation results. This protocol is capable of detecting and correcting the SF attack. The results show that the power consumed during the detection phase is only 152μW more than the power consumed during normal phase.

Channel estimation and iterative equalization for long-haul coherent optical OFDM communication systems 长途相干光OFDM通信系统的信道估计与迭代均衡

In this paper, we propose an iterative block equalizer for long-haul Coherent Optical Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (CO-OFDM) communication systems. The proposed scheme is based on a soft Minimum Mean-Squared Error (MMSE) iterative block equalizer. Two different channel estimation methods are also discussed. The performance and computational complexity of the proposed iterative equalization and channel estimation techniques are evaluated as well. The obtained Bit Error Rate (BER) performance reveal that the iterative equalizer outperforms the linear equalizers by almost two orders of magnitude.
