Abstract Introduction:Introduction: Epilepsy can be defined as a seizure disorder that usually occurs unpredictably in the absence of any consistent provoking factors. It is a serious public health concern having a negative impact on jobs, careers, relationships, families or academic life and quality of life. Homoeopathy is successfully used for treating conditions like epilepsy. Hence, well-documented case reports demonstrating its usefulness are required. Here, we present a case of epilepsy that was managed with individualised homoeopathic medicine. Case Summary: Case Summary: A 40-year-old woman presented with complaints of epileptic attacks with unconsciousness for the last 5 years. The patient was treated with Stramonium in increasing potencies (200C, 1M) for 15 months, with significant improvement and no epileptic attacks in the last 8 months. The outcome was measured using the patient-weighted quality of life in epilepsy (QOLIE-10-P) scale every 3 months and the causal attribution of homoeopathic medicines was assessed through Modified Naranjo Criteria for Homoeopathy (MONARCH). The QOLIE-10-P overall score was 3.45, but after 15 months of treatment, it was 1.22. The MONARCH score was 9, which suggested a ‘definite’ causal relationship between the medicine and the outcome. This report suggests that a correctly chosen homoeopathic medicine can be beneficial in the treatment of epilepsy.

Abstract IntroductionIntroduction: Obsessive-compulsive disorder is one of the most common psychiatric disorders. It is characterised by unwanted and distressing thoughts, images, or urges (obsessions) and repetitive behaviours or mental acts that aim to decrease the resulting distress. Case Summary Case Summary: A 26-year-old man presented with intrusive thoughts, ritualistic acts and compulsive actions. After case taking, Calcarea carbonicum, Lycopodium, Sulphur and Tuberculinum bovinum were prescribed as and when required based on symptom presentation during the course of homoeopathic treatment. Individualised homoeopathic medicines led to a remarkable improvement in the case by relieving him of his obsessive and compulsive thoughts and enabling him to engage in his social, occupational and familial life without adverse effects.

Abstract IntroductionIntroduction: Pelvic inflammatory disease is a group of disorders that affects the female genital tract having varied presentation, ranging from asymptomatic to symptoms of reproductive disability, infertility, ectopic pregnancy, etc. With the homoeopathic treatment, promising results have been seen in research on various clinical disorders but there is paucity of research in the field of pelvic inflammatory disorders. A case of pelvic inflammatory disease, treated with individualized homoeopathic medicine is presented. Further research is needed to confirm the role of homoeopathy in pelvic inflammatory disease. Case summary Case summary: A 38-year-old woman presented with pain in the lower abdomen, discharge per vagina, and low back pain. The clinical history and ultrasonographic findings were suggestive of pelvic inflammatory disease. After thorough case taking, repertorization, and consulting with materia medica, the homoeopathic medicine Natrum muriaticum in LM scale was prescribed. Gradual improvement was observed in the condition of the patient. The Modified Naranjo criteria (MONARCH) was used for causal attribution of improvement to the homoeopathic treatment.

Abstract Introduction:Introduction: Colloid goitre is a common, benign lesion in the thyroid gland, involving a diffuse or nodular pattern. It is a clinical entity characterised by subsequent growth, structural or functional transformation of one or more areas within the normal thyroid tissue. A thyroid nodule can grow to be visible, which becomes a cosmetic concern for the patient. Case Summary: Case Summary: A 32-year-old female presented with the complaint of swelling on the right side of her neck for the past 1½ years. The case was diagnosed by ultrasonography as a right-sided colloid nodular goitre with internal cystic degeneration. She was advised by a surgeon for a right hemithyroidectomy. To avoid the surgery, she sought homoeopathic treatment. Based on the characteristic totality and individualisation, homoeopathic medicine Natrum muriaticum was prescribed in LM potencies, after which the nodular goitre’s size was significantly reduced as observed on examination. The causal attribution between the homoeopathic intervention and the outcome of treatment was assessed by the Modified Naranjo Criteria for Homeopathy score which suggested that the improvement in the patient can be attributed to the homoeopathic treatment provided. This clinical case report shows the positive effect of individualised homoeopathic treatment in colloid nodular goitre.

Abstract Introduction:Introduction: Erythrodermic psoriasis (EP) is a rare and severe variant of psoriasis, with an estimated prevalence among psoriatic patients ranging from 1% to 2.25%. It presents as erythema, oedema, pruritus, ill-defined psoriatic plaques, scaling, hair loss and occasionally exudative lesions and palmoplantar diffuse desquamation with nail changes ranging from mild pitting to severe onychodystrophy, more commonly involving the fingernails than the toenails. Case Summary: Case Summary: A 60-year-old male patient, already diagnosed with EP, presented with extensive involvement of body surface area (80–90%). He was treated with Hepar sulphur based on the acute totality, followed by Arsenicum sulphuratum rubrum starting from 30C and then higher potencies as per the requirement and adherence to the homoeopathic principles. At the baseline, the scores of psoriasis area severity index and dermatology life quality index were 54 and 30, respectively and reduced to zero after 8 months of homoeopathic intervention, without any adverse events. Furthermore, during the 2-year follow-up, the patient had two episodes of recurrence of the same complaints with lesser intensity and was treated with the same medicine with favourable results. The causal attribution of changes to homoeopathy was explicitly represented by Modified Naranjo criteria for Homoeopathy and before and after photographs. This evidence based case report may pave the path for further research in treating difficult cases like EP with individualised homoeopathic treatment.

Introduction: Post-partum depression (PPD) is a disabling psychiatric disorder that has long-term effects on the mother and the baby. Because many people do not comply with antidepressant medication, there is a great need for alternative treatment options like homoeopathy that are less harmful. Case Summary: Here, we have presented the case report of a woman with PPD, who experienced guilt, depressed mood, suicidal thoughts, restlessness and auditory hallucination. Based on repertorial totality, Cimicifuga racemosa 200C was prescribed. The case was screened using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale. To assess the outcome of the treatment, the 17-item Hamilton depression rating scale was used on the day of admission and on the day of discharge. This indicated a marked improvement within a short period. As this case falls under type 2 mental disease, according to the treatment procedure for this type, an acute medicine Cimicifuga racemosa 200C was administered, and was followed by an anti-psoric medicine, Phosphorous, to complete the cure.

Abstract Introduction:Introduction: Hypothyroidism is a hypo-metabolic state resulting from inadequate secretion of thyroid hormones. It is the second most common endocrine disorder among women and a leading cause of menstrual abnormalities in all age groups, thereby affecting reproductive functions in females. Levothyroxine is the standard lifelong mode of treatment in conventional medicine. Case Summary: Case Summary: A 35-year-old hypothyroid female presented with menstrual irregularities. However, the physical general symptoms in this patient were contrary to the expected clinical presentation of the disease. Individualised homoeopathic medicine was selected for this patient, based on these peculiar symptoms and complete recovery was seen with the restoration of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels within normal range within 7 months. TSH levels were investigated and recorded before and after treatment. The Modified Naranjo Criteria for Homoeopathy was used to assess the causal attribution of clinical outcome after the homoeopathic intervention. The patient was observed for further 3 months and showed no recurrence of complaints. Complete resolution in this case of hypothyroidism is yet another affirmation that homoeopathic intervention can be used in the treatment of endocrine disorders in which usually lifelong treatment is the only option.

Background: Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a significant health problem impacting health related quality of life. Objectives: This study assesses the efficacy of individualised homoeopathy (IH) in LM potency in CRS. Methods: A randomised, double-blind and placebo-controlled trial on patients with CRS was undertaken at four institutes, from July 2012 to December 2013. Eligible participants were randomised to IH in LMpotencies (n = 60) or a similar placebo (n = 60). Primary outcome was change in the total symptoms score (TSS) (area under the curve [AUC]) and in sinus nasal outcome test 22 over 3 months. Intention-totreat approach was used for analyses. Results: TSS AUC over 3 months was less in the homoeopathy group compared to the placebo group but was statistically insignificant (IH: 1303.1 ± 612.2; P = 1380.1 ± 811.8; 95% CI: −336.9, 182.9; P = 0.56). The absolute difference in TSS from baseline had a statistically significant difference at day 60 (mean difference = 4; 95% CI: 0.3–7.7, P = 0.03) and day 75 (mean difference =3.8; 95%: 0.1–7.5, P = 0.04) favouring homoeopathy. The global assessment by the investigator and patient showed satisfactory improvement at day 60 mean difference = 0.6, 95% CI: 0.27–0.86, P = 0.0001 and day 75 mean difference = 0.5, 95% CI: 0.27–0.84, P = 0.0001, respectively. A positive trend was observed in rhinoscopy score in homoeopathy group (mean difference: 0.9, 95% CI: −0.00–1.8, p=0.05). There was no difference in computed tomography scan scores of paranasal sinuses between the groups. Conclusion: This study provides a positive trend to support the effect of individually selected homoeopathic remedies in patients with CRS and warrants further evaluation.
