Design and experimental study of a Fiber Bragg grating pressure sensor 光纤光栅压力传感器的设计与实验研究

The optical fiber sensing technology has been rapidly applied in manufacturing and industrial fields. In this paper, a diaphragm-type fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor used for detecting the static/dynamic pressure of gas or liquid, is designed and experimentally studied. The pressure sensitivity of the sensor is obtained from both analytical solution and simulation calculation using finite element analysis (FEA). The Experiment results indicate that the pressure sensitivity of the sensor is -3.21 pm/kPa in a range from 0 to 500 kPa, and the linear correlative coefficient reaches 99.98%. This kind of pressure sensor could be widely used for pressure's quasi-distributed measurement and long-term on-line monitoring at a remote distance.

Damage detection based on multi-scale entropy and support vector machine 基于多尺度熵和支持向量机的损伤检测

The cracks on the surface of mechanical structure often happen under heavy loads and harsh environments, especially in the aeroengine. So that it is significantly important to identify the cracks and detect the locations. In this paper, a damage detection method based on multiscale entropy (MSE) and support vector machine (SVM) is presented to anaylze the damages on a vibrated steel plate in our experimental platform. And 24 Fibre Bragg Gratings sensors(FBGs) are employed to monitor the dynamic strain on the different points of the steel plate through only 4 channels for data transmission. According to the measurement and analyzed results, this method is effective to determine the area containing the damages on the basis of points detected by the FGBs.

A bi-mode state monitoring system for aero-engine components based on FBG sensing 基于光纤光栅传感的航空发动机部件双模状态监测系统

The establishment of a state monitoring system for the aero-engine and its key components is of vital importance to reduce the risks and costs of aero-engine operation. Based on the novel fiber Bragg grating sensors (FBGs) embedded in the aero-engine, a bi-mode state monitoring system for the components in aero-engine was presented in this paper. A 3D model of the blade and FBGs were constructed and controlled in this system. Moreover, the temperature detected by FBGs can be simulated as a temperature field on the model. In order to acquire the expansibility, flexibility and security, both B/S (Browser /Server) mode and C/S (Client/Server) mode of the system were established in our system. Therefore, it is feasible to monitor and simulate the state of rotating blade in aero-engine through various FBG sensors and our system.

Neural network-based decision support for conceptual design of a mechatronic system using mechatronic multi-criteria profile (MMP) 基于神经网络的机电一体化多准则系统概念设计决策支持

A mechatronic product is a complex multi-domain system which integrates several disciplines where mechanics are combined with electronics, control and software. The task of designing mechatronic systems is understood to be very tedious and complex because of the high number of components, the multi-physics aspects, the couplings between the different domains involved and the interacting design criteria. Due to this inherent complexity, a systematic and multi-objective approach is needed to replace the traditional methods used to support the design activity and design performance evaluation. In this paper we present a Choquet integral-based neural network alongside with a new multi-criteria profile for mechatronic system performance evaluation in conceptual design stage. The newly introduced Mechatronic Multi-criteria Profile (MMP) includes various quantitative evaluation criteria such as machine intelligence, reliability, complexity, flexibility and cost. The Choquet integral-based neural network will be used for the aggregation of criteria and fitting the intuitive requirements for decision-making in the presence of interacting criteria. Finally, a case study of designing a robotic visual servoing system is presented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Underwater drilling of foam-like materials and wax using ultrasound technology 利用超声波技术在水下钻探泡沫状材料和蜡

The paper presents the results related to ultrasound machining of several materials as foam-like materials (i.e. Polystyrene and Polyurethane) and wax in underwater conditions. The paper shows also the comparison with in-air ultrasound machining performed on the same materials. The comparison demonstrates an enhancement mainly in terms of surface finish, overcut and heat altered zone. Such enhancements are due to the capability of water to decrease the influence of high temperatures on the tool-surface interface and to facilitate the removal of the machined material. The underwater conditions make it possible to successfully drill and mill wax, too: in air the molten wax tends to refill the manufactured features, while in water wax immediately solidifies and a chip is formed. Another possible machining benefit is given by the cavitation effect which happens underwater and facilitates also chip removal.

User interface design for artistic expression based on bio-signals: An EEG feature extraction method based on weak periodic signal detection 基于生物信号的艺术表达用户界面设计:一种基于弱周期信号检测的EEG特征提取方法

This paper discusses the challenges towards achieving bio-signal based design environments. While the primary objective is to provide user-interface for disabled people for artistic expression, special emphasis is given to the design of graphical user interface where bio-signals are the predominant input sources. Among three unique solution methodologies are investigated (Electromyography (EMG), Electrooculography (EOG) and Electroencephalography (EEG)), stimulation based human-computer interaction method (EEG feature extraction method) is found to be the most promising towards achieving design environments for performing complex tasks. Stimulation signals are used to replicate the multi-level ribbon style menu options which is typical format used in today's software interfaces. Users communicate with the computer by simply responding to appropriate stimulation signal through generating response signals. We propose an EEG feature extraction method based on Steady-State Visual Evoked Potential (SSVEP) to match the stimulating signals with the response signals. Successful pairing of stimulation signals with the brain's response enables users of such system to perform various actions including artistic expression in 3D.

Preliminary study on design and development of a journal focused crawler system using EBD methodology: Part I — Design task and environment analysis 基于EBD方法的期刊聚焦爬虫系统设计与开发的初步研究:第一部分——设计任务与环境分析

This paper is part one of a preliminary study on design and development of a journal focused crawler system using EBD methodology. In this paper, the authors found that the living environment of a web crawler has been widely changed and the development technology has also been greatly improved, therefore it is assumed that the focus of design and development of a web crawler system shall be different than before. Using EBD, designers can begin from recursively analysing the environment of the design task for gathering enough requirements to dig out the real intent of a design task. The question-asking techniques about the generic questions and domain questions can give designer a good practice on how to analyse the environment, it guides designer to fully consider the factors that affecting the design product. These factors may lie in each event or phase of any related lifecycle, or within any level of requirement from nature to human and built. Finally, the environment analysis will lay a foundation for later conflict identification and solution generation processes since designer have grasped the real intent of the design task to some extent.

The selection of engineering materials involves a lot of knowledge. In this paper, the basic engineering material concepts and the relationships among concepts are analyzed in detail. A new ontology-based knowledge model for engineering materials is presented, which includes the engineering material ontologies, a set of tagged material instances and a rule base coded by using Semantic Web Rule Language (SWRL). A material selection approach using the ontology-based knowledge model is proposed. This research is a new attempt to construct an open and shared knowledge system for engineering materials.

Feasibility of an assembly line layout automatic configuration based on a KBE approach 基于KBE方法的装配线布局自动配置的可行性

Design of assembly lines is a knowledge intensive process relying significantly on experience of designers and engineers, lessons learned and complex sets of rules. This complicated design process is associated with high costs, long lead times and high probability of risks and reworks. Knowledge Based Engineering (KBE) and knowledge representation techniques are considered to be a successful way to tackle this design problem. This paper presents a methodology to support the configuration of assembly lines, mitigating risks and costs by introducing a best practice for global production systems provider companies. A set of system engineering rules is extracted from interviews and domain best practices and knowledge about product domain and design process is formalized. These rules will be implemented in a user-friendly platform allowing the design of first phase line layout by taking the defined system requirements (e.g. cycle time) as input. Then, the KBE approach is extended to a specific case study taken from the powertrain sector. Here, the collected knowledge on an assembly line and its design process is presented.

An algorithm to extract the generalized physical contradiction 一种提取广义物理矛盾的算法

Problem solving in design is one of the main studied topic of research, and especially methods for problem solving. Generally, two kinds of methods are differentiated, those dedicated to routine design, and those focused on inventive design. The authors aim at linking the two approaches and building a continuum between both. Thus they studied the link and direct extraction of contradictions out of experiments. To do so they built a generic model of contradictions, the Generalized System of Contradictions (GSC). This paper proposes an algorithm for identifying and extracting generalized physical contradictions, a part of the GSC, from experiments. First, the authors' design methodology to build the continuum from optimization till invention is introduced. The notion of Generalized System of Contradictions is presented and the focus is made on the notion of Generalized Physical Contradiction. This one is described through Binary Integer Programming and an algorithm is proposed in order to identify and extract complete set of Generalized Technical Contradictions (GTCs) from experiments concerning the inventive problem.
