The effect of dyeing tubes’ structure on the colour difference of yarns 染色管结构对纱线色差的影响

In the study, the effect of the structure of the dyeing tubes used in bobbin dyeing on the colour difference of the yarns was investigated. For this purpose, dyeing was done using 5 dyeing tubes with different dye permeability. Yarn samples were taken from the inner, middle and outer winding layers of the dyed bobbins. The colour difference of the yarns was measured with a spectrophotometer. It was observed that as the dye permeability of the dyeing tubes increased, the colour difference decreased and a more homogeneous dyeing was obtained. When the bobbins were evaluated in terms of diameter, it was seen that the colour difference was at least in the middle diameter. As the dye permeability increased, the colour distribution along the bobbin diameter became more homogeneous. In addition, it was determined that the colour difference decreased in fine yarn and high winding density.

Evaluation of the comfort properties of functional knitted fabrics for people with special needs 评估为有特殊需求者设计的功能性针织品的舒适特性

In this study, several comfort properties of knitted fabrics were investigated. Seven types of knitted fabrics made of combinations of natural fibres (e.g., cotton, wool, and bamboo), artificial fibres (e.g., modal) and synthetic fibres (e.g., polyester and acrylic) were produced. The knitted samples were subjected to several comfort tests, including air permeability, thermal resistance and water vapour resistance assessments. To determine the correlations among the comfort properties of the fabric, fabric structural properties, such as fabric weight and fabric thickness, were considered. Moreover, statistically significant differences were found in terms of dry thermal resistance, water vapour resistance and air permeability depending on the structural parameters of the fabric.

Designers’ potential in sustainable fashion: a systematic literature review 设计师在可持续时装方面的潜力:系统文献综述

Given the unsustainable issues of environmental pollution, resource waste, and industrial cycle blockage, the garment industry, has sought an innovation for sustainable development led by the linear economy. The circular economy (CE) advocates closing and correcting material and energy circuits, minimising resource entry and waste, and improving emissions and energy consumption. Most practices under the existing CE model address the outcome rather than comprehending the source. As one of the most critical players in the apparel industry, designers understand the source of product development. In this paper, existing sustainable design practices (SDPs) in the transition of the apparel industry to CE were summarised through a systematic literature review. The extent of designers’ involvement in CE was explored through a correlation study and data analysis between SDPs and the processes of product development (PDP) and production process (PP). Furthermore, the designers’ potential to contribute sustainably to the CE transformation within the apparel industry was discussed via qualitative analysis. The findings demonstrated infrequent involvement in PP by designers, whose voices were limited in the apparel industry, and that the possibility of more designer involvement in SDP. Therefore, this research only focused on the sustainability potential of designer-led PDPs. Lastly, the potential and limitations of applying PDP three-dimensional visualisation as a designer-led SDP were presented.

Colour prediction as a weaving design selection help tool in Jacquard CAD 将色彩预测作为提花 CAD 中织造设计选择的辅助工具

The final colour prediction of a weave design made of dyed yarns is a difficult problem. This study shows how a geometric model can be developed to obtain the final colour prediction objectively. For this purpose, a woven material was divided into weft, warp and pores. Then, all parameters needed for the calculation of each colour contribution were identified. A geometrical model based on construction parameters was developed to predict the surface colour contribution of each coloured yarn in a weave surface. To validate the predicted colorimetric data, a visual assessment experiment was conducted. Then, the difference between the predicted and actual colour appearance of the weave pattern was evaluated and analysed in function of weaving structures, and weft yarns colours. For this purpose, simple woven structures (plain, twill 1/3, basket 2/2 and satin Turc) with four coloured weft yarns were used. Results show that the proposed model could correctly predict the final colour of weave designs. Therefore, the model has the potential to eliminate subjective evaluations and reduce prototype sample production by automating the process of weave/colour simulation, thereby reducing the cost and time for product development. The methods of utilization of colour in woven textiles depend upon the composition of the weave design to be woven and the structure parameters of the cloth.

Garment purchasing through the Internet has become an important trend for consumers. However, various garment e-shopping systems, systematically lack personalized recommendations, like sales advisors in classical shops, to propose the most relevant products to different consumers according to their consumer profiles and successful recommendation cases. In this paper, we propose a consumer-oriented recommendation system by Case-based reasoning techniques and Similarity degree of fuzzy sets, which can be used in a garment online shopping system like a virtual sales advisor. This system has been developed by integrating successful recommendation cases and taking into account consumer profiles. It can effectively help consumers to choose garments from the Internet. Compared with other prediction methods, the proposed method is more robust and interpretable owing to its capacity to treat uncertainty. This paper presents an original method for predicting one or several relevant product profiles from the similarity degree between a specific consumer profile and a successful cases database.

Strength of cotton dual-core elastane yarn splice 棉双芯弹力纱拼接强度

Cotton/elastane yarns are composite yarns composed of a blend of elastane core covered with cotton fibres. An increase in the demand for sports and leisure garments with high comfort and elasticity has led to more significant usage of elastane filaments. New yarn using two elastane filaments with a high ratio of elastane are introduced. An experimental study was established to define the most appropriate parameters for spliced cotton dual-core elastane yarn strength. The splice strength was enhanced when binding air pressure, joining air duration, and preparation duration were raised. Increased preparation air pressure does not affect the strength of the splice.

Promoting educational materials in digital fashion 推广数码教材

Specialized fashion software, as a technological instrument for virtual modelling, has a critical role in reducing the length of the design process and time to market, simplifying communication with other departments and improving the quality of the creative process. This paper presents a survey of the modelling technologies used in Romanian clothing companies as a critical starting point for outlining a new methodology in teaching digital fashion. As part of the larger European survey in the framework of the Erasmus+ Digital Fashion Project, collected data from Romanian textile companies present their current needs for clothing designed with computer technologies and 3D software for virtual prototyping. According to the sampled companies, most have high (over 42%) and medium (over 33%) levels of digital skills. The most needed occupational profile was the 3D Designer, and the age expectation was between 25–40 years. The ability to design clothing patterns using virtual prototyping was the most selected preference when asked about future development requirements. The survey results are valuable both in establishing the new methodological framework for teaching digital fashion and in identifying the needs for the other project outcomes, such as the textile database, the virtual training platform, and the new curricula.

This paper presents a survey of the modelling technologies used in Romanian clothing companies as a critical starting point for outlining a new methodology in teaching digital fashion. As part of the larger European survey in the framework of the Erasmus+ Digital Fashion Project, collected data from Romanian textile companies present their current needs for clothing designed with computer technologies and 3D software for virtual prototyping. According to the sampled companies, most have high (over 42%) and medium (over 33%) levels of digital skills. The most needed occupational profile was the 3D Designer, and the age expectation was between 25–40 years. The ability to design clothing patterns using virtual prototyping was the most selected preference when asked about future development requirements. Statistical analysis of textile structures based on conductive yarns 导电纱织物结构的统计分析

This work presents a series of textile structures fabricated by weaving and knitting using insulating, conductive and antistatic yarns. The physical-mechanical (thickness, water vapour permeability, mass and air permeability), electrical (electrical resistivity), and morphological (SEM, EDAX) properties of the textile structures were analysed to highlight their application potential in interactive products. The statistical analysis of the correlations between physical-mechanical and electric properties was conducted by correlation analysis using the electrical surface resistivity values as dependent variables and the mass (M), thickness (δ) and water vapour permeability (Pv) as independent variable.

Study of antimicrobial property of knitted spacer fabric treated with 1-Tetradecanaminium, N,N-dimethyl-N-[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl], chloride 1-十四胺、N,N-二甲基-N-[3-(三甲氧基硅基)丙基]氯化物处理针织间隔织物的抗菌性能研究

The current study helps to understand the efficacy of antimicrobial treatment done on a weft-knitted spacer fabric. The antimicrobial agent used in the study is from the class of quaternary ammonium salts. The fabric is evaluated for antimicrobial efficacy. It is also cross-compared with the drug and some advanced wound dressings available in the market for its antimicrobial and anti-biofilm activity. Knitted spacer fabric treated with 1-Tetradecanaminium, N,N-dimethyl-N-[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl], chloride (QAS) shows good antimicrobial properties and is shown to exhibit a broad range of antimicrobial effects against gram-positive bacteria, gram-negative bacteria and also fungus and yeast. The rapidity of killing and durability of microbial activity make it a very suitable material for infection control in applications like wound care materials. The spacer fabric can behave as foam in the management of exudates in wounds. The efficacy of this material compared with other dressing materials yields substantial evidence of its activity as a wound dressing material when it comes to management of microbial contaminations including biofilm prevention and disruption. Such material can find use in the management of chronic wounds and is a subject matter of further studies with clinical evidence.

Worker saving attitude towards retirement planning: A study on Indian textile industry 工人对退休计划的储蓄态度:以印度纺织业为例

The uneven and polarised nature of development has propagated disparities in access to services. Uncertainties in the textile sector have not only affected the economy but have impacted the livelihood of workers dependent on this sector. Systematic retirement planning could have eased the anxiety and inconvenience to a larger extent but was non-existent to a larger extent. This has further become a critical problem as life expectancy has grown, as have health-care expenditures. The purpose of this research is to look at the link between saving attitudes about “personal financial planning and retirement planning behaviour “of workers from textile factories within the industrial area of Solapur and Pune, in the Indian state of Maharashtra. A total of 200 workers were polled, and the chi-square test with regression analysis tested the data. The study found a strong association between the idea of financial awareness and superannuation planning within textile workers leading to improved savings attitude. Workshops, seminars, and other mediums of communication were revealed as means for improved retirement savings. A sound financial attitude may not be limited to the stages of retirement financial behaviour; a potential issue for future research would be to use the created financial literacy scale to explore its association with a broader spectrum of financial behaviour.
