Edge Computing Platform Management: Design for F2C and F2F for Small Businesses to Reduce Costs 边缘计算平台管理:为小型企业设计F2C和F2F以降低成本

With a focus on edge computing and the cloud, IoT and connected devices require both edge computing platform management for real-time decisions and cloud computing for optimization. From a business's perspective, this requires further investments in keeping devices updated. Big players in edge computing have proposed new devices and concepts for industries, resulting in the likelihood of increasingly expensive devices going forward. However, small businesses and factories cannot afford such investments. Thus, this paper proposes a simple and low-cost implementation of an edge computing platform for small businesses to automate their business in real time. Furthermore, having the perspective of historical performance enables real-time optimization of the entire business process.

Applying Fuzzy Reliability Analysis of Damaged Road Network to Disaster Reduction Planning 受损路网模糊可靠性分析在减灾规划中的应用

After the occurrence of a large-scale disaster, the assessment of road damage can only rely on the experts to judge according to their experience and judgment. This study uses linguistic variables to describe the link connectivity under damaged conditions. Link connectivity is estimated based on human subjective cognition of road damage. To assess the vulnerability of the road network, we propose two kinds of fuzzy reliability indicators, fuzzy reliability of travel time and fuzzy reliability of network connection. They are the decision basis for disaster reduction planning. Due to difficulties in obtaining actual data limited to large-scale disasters, this study was analyzed using the Sioux Falls road network. According to the probability of damage to the road affected by the earthquake, we randomly generate the road damage scenarios according to the road width and use four linguistic variables to describe the road connectivity, i.e."high", "medium", "low", and "very low". The simulation situation analysis results show that node 14, node 23 and node 24 located in the southwest corner of Sioux Falls road network are the most vulnerable. Once a large earthquake disaster occurs, the connection degree of external traffic is the lowest and should be improved first.

Creation of a Sound Map Based on a Field Assessment: A Case of Hon-Atsugi Station "s(urr)oundings" 基于现场评估的声音地图的创建——以弘津站(urr)探测结果为例

In order to reduce movement barriers for physically disabled people such as the handicapped and the elderly, switching urban areas and buildings to be barrier-free has been progressing. Much of the information is limited to only some areas, which makes access to it complicated when acquiring information on various places. For this reason, there arises a problem of it being difficult to find such information depending on the user disability conditions and the conditions of their use of information-receiving devices. If such problems can be alleviated, it should lead to a relief for going out and for restrictions on entertainment for the disabled, to promotion of communication and social participation and improvement of QOL. In this research, in order to firstly grasp the actual conditions of hearing support equipment around Hon-Atsugi Station of Odakyu Line, which is the nearest station to Kanagawa Institute of Technology, we tried to create a sound environment map based on practical assessment.

Automated Detection of Complex System Operator's Condition by Using Non-Contact Vital Sensing 基于非接触式生命传感的复杂系统操作员状态自动检测

This study is focused on the automated detection of a complex system operator's condition. For example, in this study a person's reaction while listening to music (or not listening at all) was determined. For this purpose, various well-known data mining tools as well as ones developed previously were used. To be more specific, the following techniques were applied for the mentioned problems: support vector machines, artificial neural networks, fuzzy logic systems and others. However, firstly each person's state was monitored using non-contact vital sensing. Experimental results demonstrated that automatically generated fuzzy rule-based classifiers can properly determine the human condition (and reaction) based on data obtained by non-contact vital sensing using the Doppler sensors introduced earlier. Besides, these fuzzy logic systems outperformed alternative well-known data mining tools. Thus, more complex problems related to the automated detection of an operator's condition can be solved in the same manner.

The recent decline in operating expenses subsidy has made the importance of strategic management more essential for National Research and Development Agencies in Japan. For this reason, it is necessary for executives to grasp the current state of the organization correctly in order to make quick and accurate decisions. As we, Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC), have many large facilities, and the burden of these operating expenses is increasing. Planning office members in JAMSTEC report on IR policies aimed at capturing the signs of potential issues in advance, and directing the operation toward the future and extracting improvement points.

Exploring the Relationship of Travel Constraints, Destination Image, and Revisit Intention 旅游约束、目的地形象与再访意向之关系探讨

This study is aimed at exploring if Kenting can be transformed into a new face by means of improving the service quality, cutting off the accommodation cost, improving the transport of Kenting on Main Street and street vendors so as to restore tourists' intention of return from at home and overseas countries. In this study questionnaire was administered to 558 tourists (227 males and 281 females) having been to Kenting and traveling around Kenting. The tourists' age levels were 20 to 50 years old. An informal interview was also utilized. The SPSS analysis offered support the relationship between travel constraints and revisit intention (H2), destination image and revisit intention (H3) except the relationship between travel constraints and destination image (H1). The results also confirmed a role of destination image played in travel constraints and revisit intention and the relationship between travel constraints and revisit intention. This study makes it clear that destination image plays a key role in achieving the loyalty, strong desire and tourists' satisfaction. Destination image had a positive effect on tourists' intention of revisit.

Massive Parallel Max-SAT Solver Based on Speculative Computation 基于推测计算的大规模并行Max-SAT求解器

This paper proposes a massive parallel Max-Sat solver based on speculative computation using GPUs. Max-SAT is a combinatorial optimization problem that maximizes the true clauses of the SAT clauses, and many Max-SAT solvers have been proposed. Parallelization is expected as an efficiency improvement method when solving problems with a large amount of computation such as Max-SAT. However, many of the Max-SAT solvers are designed as sequential programs, and the effect of parallelization is limited. In this study, we developed a massive parallel search algorithm by designing a parallel stochastic search algorithm and combining it with parallel speculative computation. From the comparison with existing solvers using the Max-SAT problem, we examine the feasibility of this method.

The big wave of digital fabrication movement has spread to several educational areas, such as those related to STEAM education. However, there are not so many researches to evaluate instructional design for digital fabrication education. Therefore, we conducted an experiment in an actual digital fabrication course and evaluated its instructional design. The research question of the experiment is what kind of factors affect to knowledge retention of learners in the case of digital fabrication education. In the experiment, learners took a test to assess knowledge they acquired in lessons each week. They were required to repeatedly try to take the tests until they achieved a perfect score. Three weeks later, to assess learner's knowledge retention, the learners took a delayed-test which was the same contents as the previous tests. Several learners scored lower than a half of full marks even though they achieved the perfect score three weeks before. In order to investigate the reason why they could not retain their knowledge, we analyzed their job-sheet they had written their works and found several reasons of them caused from lack of their practical experience. In consideration of the analytical result, this paper also discusses about a better instructional design for digital fabrication. The contents of the discussion will contribute as a useful idea for an instructor to consider instructional design for digital fabrication education.

An Open-Source UAV Image Processing Web Service for Crop Health Monitoring 面向作物健康监测的开源无人机图像处理Web服务

Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) photogrammetry has allowed to monitor crop growth/health and remotely estimate biomass through calculation of Vegetation Indices (VI). However, some of the indices require costly sensors, and the process of generating VI maps from UAV images also requires commercial off-the-shelf software packages. This study uses existing open-source tools and methods to develop an algorithm for a web-service that can create orthophotos, canopy height model and VI's for red-green-blue (RGB) images collected from UAV. We also discuss on ways to balance between the processing speed and quality of outputs, and further compare them to the outputs of an existing state-of-the-art commercial service.

Smart Computing to Gauge Time Series Change of TFR and Average Family Size by Indonesia Provinces 智能计算衡量印尼各省TFR和平均家庭规模的时间序列变化

A new smart time series data analysis method, the statistical shape analysis is presented. The method was originally developed for image analysis in biology. However, the analysis power can also be used in social science and economics. The advantage is to extract separately Affine transformation part and non-Affine one from the shape deformation. The Affine transformation shows the whole trend of the data change. The non-Affine one shows local movements, compared to others. In the paper, we shall visualize the analysis results using the TFR and family average size data of Indonesia provinces.
