A four-point fed radial line planar antenna (RLPA) array which has the capability of monopulse tracking operation is proposed. A simple analytical model which describes the performance of the array is presented. A four-point fed radial line power divider which has 90 output port probes was fabricated. Sum and difference patterns evaluated from the measured transmission amplitude and phase data are shown verifying the capability of the four-point fed RLPA for monopulse tracking operation.<>

A CG-FFT method with nonuniform sampling for Pocklington's equation 波克林顿方程的非均匀采样CG-FFT方法

The conjugate gradient method combined with the fast Fourier transform (CG-FFT) is a suitable approach for large scatterers and radiating systems. The uniform sampling scheme, widely used in current applications, requires memory storage and computational complexity which increase very rapidly with the desired accuracy. In this work, to circumvent this difficulty for the case of large structures with localized isolated discontinuities, where higher accuracy (resolution) is required only over some specific parts, a nonuniform sampling scheme is presented. Although the proposed approach is more general, its application to Pocklington's equation is investigated here. The CG-FFT method for uniform sampling is applied to the radiation and scattering problem of a straight wire antenna, for a wide range of lengths.<>

Characteristics of superquadric loop antennas for mobile communications applications 用于移动通信的超二次型环形天线的特性

The authors present the results of a unified formulation capable of modeling many different loop geometries, including circular, square, and folded dipole configurations, through the use of the superquadric curve. The methodology allows analysis of a single superquadric element or of two loops with arbitrary relative position and orientation and possibly different geometries. A Galerkin-type moment method with piecewise sinusoidal basis and weighting functions is used to solve a coupled form of the electric field integral equation (EFIE) for thin wires. The current obtained from this solution is then used to compute the directivity, input impedance, and correlation coefficient (diversity performance) for the antenna configuration. Both delta gap and magnetic frill source models are implemented in the formulation.<>

The resonator structure is divided into interior and exterior regions. For the interior region, the standard 2-D Okoshi formulation of magnetic current (electric voltage) on the patch perimeter is used. For the exterior region, a 3-D complex image formulation of magnetic current is used. The tangential electric and magnetic fields of the exterior and interior formulations are then matched over the patch perimeter to form a moment method matrix equations. Numerical results are provided for rectangular and circular patch resonators of direct microstrip feed over a wide frequency range. These numerical examples demonstrate the versatility, speed, and accuracy of the method.<>

Accurately resolving features that are small with regard to the basic spatial cell used throughout a finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) code has been of interest for the past 10 to 15 years. An examination of the layer problem is provided. There are numerous cases that require a rigorous analysis of the field behavior within the material. Obvious important examples include coatings designed to trap waves for stealth applications and propagation within multilayer circuit boards. These cases are examined here using an orthogonal, locally nonuniform mesh embedded within a uniform mesh based on the Yee formulation. The specific applications considered are the Salisbury screen and crosstalk on printed-circuit boards.<>

The StratEdge process, an advanced ceramic packaging technology based on the lamination of fully fired ceramics using a set of proprietary glass compounds and compatible metallizations is described. It combines both innovative and mature processing techniques with new material sets. The process has yielded superior results with respect to electrical, structural, and hermetic performance. The technology is affordable, suitable for high volume production, and does not require customized equipment. To illustrate these considerations, two simple examples of a microwave and a millimeter wave package are presented. A basic DC-20 GHz broadband microwave package is illustrated. The goal of the package is to be electrically transparent to the die and to provide thermal dissipation while maintaining a hermetic and environmentally compatible enclosure. A package that is being developed to address millimeter-wave requirements is also presented.<>

The authors present the analysis of the aperture distributions corresponding to a desired shaped beam by the synthesis of Gaussian beams. A low-profile balun approach is described which is a modified version of the proven exponential tapered balun, capturing its inherent broadband, low-cost characteristics in a compact package. This approach provides a broadband antenna with coaxial connectors suitable for low-profile skin mounting. It may also be used with conventional cavity-backed antennas. Implementation methods apply to single- and dual-polarized apertures. Hardware design configurations and preliminary test data voltage standing wave ratios are given.<>

Microwave imaging for features on metallic surface with synthetic aperture radar 金属表面特征的合成孔径雷达微波成像

It is demonstrated that the difference in spatial spectra for coherent and incoherent scattering SAR (synthetic aperture radar) data can be used as a mechanism to separate the specular reflection and coherent edge diffraction from the signals due to surface scatterers. A spatial-spectral filter is thus designed to make use of this property and applied to process synthetic as well as measured SAR data. A one-dimensional surface image is constructed from the filtered SAR data with a standard matched filter.<>

A spatial-spectral filter is thus designed to make use of this property and applied to process synthetic as well as measured SAR data.
