Heart of Learning: Pedagogical Practices Amongst Islamic Education Novice Teachers in the 21st Century 学习之心:21世纪伊斯兰教育新手教师的教学实践

A number of issues and challenges have been faced by novice teachers such as the difficulties in translating their knowledge into action, managing the classroom, finding suitable teaching approaches and more. Thus, this study seeks to address and examining the understanding and pedagogical practices of novice teachers as they grapple with essential aspects of teaching. Moreover, it provides an insight into the actual application of their teaching and learning approaches which they adopt throughout a limited experience during their initial years of teaching. This study was conducted on ten Islamic education novice teachers in secondary schools from four different states in Malaysia. The data were collected by using semi-structured individual interviews. The results that emerge from these findings are teachers‘ application of using studentcentred learning and their acceptance in imposing 21 Century Education.

The Luminous Child: A Critical Analysis of Qur’ānic References in Sīra Nabawiyya 发光的孩子:对库尔ānic在《斯拉·纳巴维耶》中引用的批判性分析

In the sīra tradition, light serves as a symbol of Prophet Muḥammad‟s prophetic signs, and this concept is exemplified extensively. The sīra illustrated the Prophet as born with light, he was described as casting no shadow, even in bright sunlight or in moonlight. Interestingly, some sīra scholars have employed Qur‟ānic verse as an evidentiary apparatus to substantiate the authenticity of the incident recorded in the sīra. This study aims to explore the narrative of the Prophet‟s luminous condition at his birth, analyse the historical connection between the occurrence and verse 5:15 of the Qur‟ān and examine hermeneutical responses of Muslim exegetes on the verse. The study is qualitative in nature in which the researcher employed both critical and analytical approaches to the works of tafsīr and sīra corpus. The study in its finding asserts that traces of a gradual development of Muslim thought, based on the specific cases from the Qur‟ān. This indicates that the references they made to the Prophet Muḥammad were the result of intellectual reaction within their contemporary framework.

Self-Esteem in Shaping Youth Personality from Islamic Psycho-Spiritual Perspective 从伊斯兰心理-精神的角度看青少年人格塑造中的自尊

Early childhood experiences profoundly affect later functioning as an adult. These experiences also involve the development of self-concept that has close relation to the Arabic term muru ‟ ah or self-esteem in Islamic literature. Many scholars have proposed theories and models of self, including those based on Islamic teachings. This article aims to explore the concept of self-esteem in shaping youth personality based on the Islamic psycho-spiritual study using the method of content analysis. The self-esteem is regarded as a risk factor influencing social functioning and problem behaviour in youth contributing to different kind of mental health problems. There is also a link between the self-esteem and social behaviour which relate to the whole problem of personality disorder. A high self-esteem was found to be the most important factor for adjustment and for protection against common problem behaviour among youth. Whilst, low self-esteem has a direct effect on problem behaviour. In Islamic psycho-spiritual discipline, the sources of self-esteem are based on revelations of God without neglecting the empirical aspect of it as practised by psychologists. Thus, in shaping youth personality, self-esteem in Islam placed an equilibrium line between physical, psychological, spiritual and religious development. At the same time, sources of self-esteem also take into consideration in the collection of self-perceptions from social, physical, emotional, family, behavioural, academic, and the environment interaction outcomes like parents, family, teachers, friends and community members which do not contradict the teachings of Islam. Thus, through the conception of self-esteem build in Islamic psycho-spiritual discipline that combines sources from revelation of God and empirical of human beings‟ efforts, the benefits can be seen not only in the temporal aspect of one‟s life but also in the eternal.
