The issue of intellectual and civilizational backwardness ‘takhalluf’ is one of the most important issues debated in the modern Islamic discourse, especially in the early twentieth centuries. What are the factors underneath the decline of the Muslim Ummah? How it affect its present conditions?, and how to resolve the problem and bring about strategic transformation to this current situation? This article attempts to investigate the issue from Muhammad al-Ghazzālī’s scholarly insight, focusing on some of main factors deliberated by al-Ghazzālī as significant factors to Muslim decline and backwardness in the intellectual and civilizational realms. Al-Ghazzālī identified two major causes of decadence, namely internal as well external factors. Al-Ghazzālī also offers his intellectual insights on remedies for the crisis towards the betterment of Muslim nations.

The interplay between religion and politics is of particular interest to sociologists and historians. On many accounts, the state has often used religion as a sacred weapon to promote its political legitimacy while religion on the other hand has used the reigning power to impose its doctrine on the masses. This manifestation has featured in the historical development of Muslim scholarship and political ascendancy respectively. Against this backdrop, this study examines the aforementioned feature in the contemporary Muslim narratives using the Madkhaliyah and Surūriyah trends as case studies. The study adopts historical and analytical methods of research. It reveals that the rise of the Surūriyah trend in Saudi constitutes a formidable threat to the political interests of the ruling dynasty; hence, the resort to its persecution by the state authorities. The theology of the Madkhaliyah group is opposed to political reformation, opposition, and awareness and it promotes a peaceful society under an unchecked tyrannical system.

Rasm is a learn about the writing of the mushaf al-Quran specifically either in writing, pronunciation or the forms of letters used. The purpose is as a guide to the next copyist of the Qur'an so that his writing does not deviate from the writings of the companions of the Prophet SAW. The main focus of this study is to analyze the manhaj rasm found in surah al-Baqarah from the manuscript al-Quran MSS 4322 collection of the National Library of Malaysia. Manuscript al-Quran MSS 4322 is a handwritten by Pangeran Jimat in Madura, Indonesia. Pangeran Jimat was a sultan who ruled Madura in the 17th century AD. This study was conducted through a philological approach. The method used throughout this study is the method of data collection through documentation method that is by analyzing the text of the Qur'an MSS 4322. The findings show that the analysis of official knowledge in the manuscript of the Qur'an MSS 4322 clearly shows the writing of official knowledge of the manuscript al-Quran MSS 4322 does not take the main view, Abu Dawud Sulayman al-Najah as the opinion in the mushaf of Madinah and the second view of Abu Amr Uthman bin Sa'id al-Dani represents the view of the mushaf of the Libyan Jamahiriyah. Especially, in setting seven methods in Uthman official writing, namely hadhf alif, ziyadah alif, ziyadah waw, ziyadah ya and words that contain two or more readings. All in all, more to the writing of the Imla’i rasm except only on the determination of the method of hadhf alif on ha tanbih, hadhf alif on the noun isim, ibdal alif on waw, wasl, fasl and the use of hamzah wasal and hamzah qata ’only using the Ottoman rasm. The findings of this study, the author proposes that this study can be done continuously on other surah in the manuscript of the Qur'an MSS 4322, especially aspect rasm. Therefore, this manuscript of the Qur'an is a great manuscript that will enhance the dignity and writings of previous scholars academically and more authoritatively to the digital generation, especially in the field of the Qur'an.

Islamic values in culture show the height and thinking of the community in carrying out the journey of life in a diverse group of races and religions. Based on the Qur'an and Sunnah as the main reference, it has explained some Islamic values that need to be followed, namely basic values (creed), core values (Shariah) and main values (morality) and delivery that is appropriate to the state of society as an additional value or development in cultural value education. Therefore, this article aims to analyse the values of Islam in the culture found in those values. While the methodology for this qualitative study is to use library research and data content analysis from animated films watched. The results of the study found that the animated series Upin and Ipin have all four of those values in the culture of a pluralistic society without having to separate Islamic beliefs in life together with non-Muslim societies. The content of the animated film also shows the harmonious reality of life and mutual respect among races and religions as indicated in the documentation of the Malaysian constitution.

The issue of ru’yah Allāh is an issue of belief that has long been a place in the debate stage of scholars across sects and streams since the second century of Hijrah. Among the sects that are the main rivals of the Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jamā'ah sect on this issue is al-Mu'tazilah who deny the necessity of ru’yah Allāh either in this world or in the hereafter by using the argument of revelation, reason and language. This issue is very important to pay attention to because it involves an important faith debate. Scholars of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jamā'ah wa al-Jamā'ah such as al-Abū al-Ḥasan al-Ash'arī (d. 323 H), Abū Ḥāmid al-Ghazālī (d. 505 H), Sa' ad al-Dīn al-Taftāzānī (d. 792 H) and Muḥammad al-Sanūsī (d. 895 H) interacted with them in the form of dialectic and debate centered on the methodology of ādāb al-baḥth wa al-munāẓarah science. Therefore, this study was written to examine the application of ādāb al-baḥth knowledge practiced by the scientist in the issue of ru'yah Allāh to identify the significance of this knowledge in arguing and upholding the truth. This study goes through the process of content analysis of scholarly documents in the science of faith to obtain relevant information. The study found that the methods applied have an important role in disentangling the arguments used, unraveling the errors in arguments and proving the truth of a claim related to the issue of ru’yah Allāh thus helping to break arguments that contradict the Quran and the Sunnah.

The Quran is the fundamental source by which a person knows his Creator through the knowledge of the names of Allah and His attributes, which represents the subject of the unification of Allah and affects the faith of a Muslim, train his soul and conscience and refine his behavior. Thorough examination of the names and attributes of Allah in the Qur’an reveals that both the names and attributes can be found in either of the two instances: in a joint form or in isolation to show that in both cases they carry different meanings, so the study aimed at explaining the names and attributes of Allah, in both of the two instances in some verses of the Quran. The study followed the descriptive and empirical methods. The paper found that the names and attributes of Allah are tawqifiyyah,(Divine), there is no room for personal reasoning, and that the names and attributes of Allah signify perfect and sublime qualities, It was also discovered by the study that the name of (Allah) Al-‘Azīz (The Almighty) was associated with wisdom (Hikmah), the name of (Allah) Al-Laṭīf (The Gentle) with mercy (Rahmah) and the name of Al-‘Afuw (The forgiver) with power and ability (Qudrah). Based on this, the more a person knows Allah the more he reveres Him and follow His commandments. The research finally recommends that to guard the behaviour of a Muslim society, people need to learn the meanings of names and attributes of their Creator.

The method used by hadith scholars in the issue of contradiction between hadith which is termed as Mukhtalif al-Ḥadīth usually involves three manhaj, namely al-Jam‘, al-Naskh and al-Tarjīḥ. In principle, the scholars of hadith arrange the order by putting al-Jam‘ as the first, then al-Naskh and followed by al-Tarjīḥ. However, a contemporary hadith researcher, Sharaf al-Qudāh, was found to have presented a different order as compared with presented by hadith scholars. Therefore, this article aims to examine the views of Sharaf al-Quḍāh regarding the sequence of manhaj solution of Mukhtalif al-Ḥadīth based on the manhaj of hadith scholars. To implement this purpose, the writer is used library research based on qualitative research through contents analysis in order to record and analysis data. The finding of this research shows that the sequence of al-Hadith methodology which is proposed by Sharaf al-Quḍāh is acceptable among muḥaddithīn even though it is not clearly stated in Muṣṭalaḥ al-Ḥadīth writings. Accordingly, this writing is the way to enhance the understanding in accordance with the sequence of aplication methodology amongs the muhaddithīn in order to eliminate the contradiction between al hadith.
