The main objective of this research work is to carry out the stability constant study of ternary complexes of transition elements with nicotinamide and alanine. Formation of ternary complexes of transition elements like Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) of pharmacologically active Nicotinamide with Alanine was studied by the pH-metric technique at 25±0.1°C in 70%(v/v) ethanol water medium at 0.1M (NaClO4) ionic strength. The stability constants of the Nicotinamide and Alanine were calculated from the half integral method of potentiometric pH titrations data of solutions according to Irving and Rossetti’s method. The stability constants of these ternary complexes were evaluated and Order of stability constant found as Co (II) > Fe (II) > Cu (II) > Ni (II) > Zn (II).

Release of heavy metal pollutants in soil is major threat to environment and crops. Heavy Metal pollutant, hexavalent chromium released due to anthropogenic activities effects, growth metabolism and enzymes of nitrogen metabolism in oil seed crop Helianthus annuus, after entering its to plant system. Chromium (VI) ranging from 0, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 mg kg soil mixture was provided to plants of three varieties of sun flower and activity of glutamine synthetase and glutamate synthase enzymes was observed in leaves of mature plants. It was observed that even at the highest concentration of chromium, the enzyme activity was reduced by only 17.65 % and 18.22 % showing that glutamine synthetase activity was showing that glutamine synthetase activity was insensitive to chromium in all these varieties of plants. For glutamate synthase enzyme, the low chromium concentration of 10 and 20 mg kg soil was favourable but high chromium IV concentration of 50, 100 and 200 mg kg soil was adversely affecting the glutamate synthase activity in all the three verities of sunflower.

Mountains are home to some of the world’s most threatened and endemic species (including medicinal plants), as well as to some of the poorest people, who are dependent on the biological resources. Therefore, present attempt has been made to assess the threat categories of species in Murari Devi and surrounding areas and suggest conservation options. A total 80 species (32 Trees; 28 Shrubs and 20 Herbs) belonging to 68 genera and 46 families have been identified as threatened from Murari Devi and surrounding areas. Thirty one (31) species have been found to be Near Threatened. The remaining species fall under the Least Concern category. Along an altitudinal gradient, the maximum rare endangered species (71 spp.) were distributed in 700-1300m zone, followed by 13011800m (09 spp.) zone. Also using new IUCN criteria, 05 species have been categorized as Endangered; Vulnerable (05 spp.) and Least Concern (01 sp.) for Himachal Pradesh and total 03 species; Endangered and Vulnerable (01 sp.) were under global threat categories, whereas 02 species i.e., Berberis aristata (Rare) and Dioscorea deltoidea (Vulnerable) have been recorded in the Red Data Book of Indian Plants. The overexploitation, habitat degradation and changing environmental conditions may lead to the extinction within a few years. Therefore, regular monitoring of population and habitats, development of conventional protocol, establishment of species in-situ conditions and associated habitats and replication of this approach in other parts of Indian Himalayan Region have been recommended. So that the gene pool of this unique group of plants could be maintained posterity.
