One challenging question E-business executives face is whether to construct the direct Internet channel in addition to the traditional retail channel. In this paper, we develop a model for strategic dual channel investment under uncertainty and strategic customer behaviors. Based on this model, we provide analytical solutions for thresholds that dual channel makes less profit than a single channel. Moreover, we studied the role of a cost structure for the Internet channel based on this threshold. Companies are likely to have wider inefficiency region as the cost for the Internet channel increases. We provide numerical examples to analyze the effects of price volatility, uncertainty, on the inefficiency of dual channel and the effects of an asymmetric cost structure.

The supply chain of coal business and manufacturing industry is different. According to the process of value increment of coal products, Firstly, this paper analyzes the structure of coal supply chain, detailed describes the main contents of each link of supply chain, then puts forward the argument that the coal supply chain has three main characteristics, such as concentrating on insuring the stabilities of coal products and quantity. Finally, the paper points out the problems on the coal supply chain at present.

Trust is one of key factors of the development of e-commerce. In this paper, we present a trust evaluation model for B2C e-commerce. The importance of trust in e-commerce is introduced firstly. Definition and meaning of trust are discussed from different disciplines. The construction of trust in e-commerce is investigated, and main factors that influence the trust in B2C e-commerce are analysed. Based on the analysed result, the trust in B2C e-commerce is divided into direct trust and indirect trust. Then trust evaluation model based on direct trust and indirect trust are established separately. Further more, an integrated trust evaluation model for B2C e-commerce is proposed. At last, simulation experiments are given to illustrate the proposed trust evaluation model and method. The limitation of the work of this paper and future works are also discussed in addition.

As a part of the ongoing examination of the myriad issues related to the rapid development of Chinese electronic government (e-government), this paper focuses specifically on whether the Chinese e-government domain names comply with the China Government Domain Name Standard (the Standard) in November 2005 and 2006. This research found that China local governments are using various types of domain names and only around 60% of the examined domain names fully comply with the Standard in both the two examinations. The consequences of this issue together with how to address it are discussed in this paper. In addition, the possibility to use domain names in Chinese characters as government domain names is discussed.

A well organized spare part management is often a effective way to improve the customer loyalty to the enterprise or the brand. For succeeding in this business a long-term planning is necessary. But the rising application of electronic components in the automotive industry poses new challenges for the spare part management. The life cycles of the primary products and the electronic components are highly different; therefore a new methodology is necessary to handle the uprising problems. The following paper specifies a methodology to identify the optimal supply scenario developed at the Technical University Braunschweig in closely cooperation with the automotive industry. Furthermore an approach for an aftermarket roadmap for a holistic spare part management is described.

The goal of this paper is to analyze the developmental characters of producer services and study the developmental modes of producer services and the manufacturing industry. Firstly, we analyzed the general characteristics of the producer services including input, output, production, function, and development characters. Then we studied the features of physical-based producer services and the knowledge-based producer services based on the value chain theory. Finally, we proposed five developmental modes of producer services and the manufacturing industry according to the developmental stages of the producer services.

Using data envelopment analysis (DEA) this study attempts to compare the relative efficiencies of supply chain management (SCM) and information system (IS) services of the SMEs operating in Turkey and Bulgaria. Some significant differences have been found between the efficiency levels of SCM services, IS services and SCM&IS services, and the nationality of the sample firms. Turkish SMEs tend to achieve higher efficiency level with respect to each group of input variables. There are also significant differences in returns to scale for each group of input variables with respect to the country of origin of the firms. In general, it would not be unreasonable to argue that Bulgarian SMEs have better potential to improve their operational performance by exerting relatively less effort through incrementing their level of SCM and IS services. The analysis of the improvement potential of inputs indicates that Bulgarian SMEs place more emphasis on managing most of the SCM services to enhance their SCM efficiency. However, no statistically significant differences in general were noted between both groups of firms with regard to the level of resources and efforts exerted on IS and SCM&IS services. In terms of the overall average of output deficits, Turkish SMEs were found to have significantly higher output deficits than Bulgarian SMEs with respect to all three groups of input variables. In other words, the capability of Turkish SMEs to transform input variables into operational performance is far lower than that of Bulgarian SMEs.

This paper researches the development method of domain ontology from the point of view of reverse engineering. Taking the relationship data model as the object, the paper analyzes how to identify the structural information of relationship mode from the legacy system. Then, the paper obtains the semantic information of the relationship mode making use of the extended entity relationship (EER) diagram and establishes the domain ontology model.

China's economy still keeps the rapid growth for over a decade however; it has to increase its service sector to sustain this growth in the future. Researches on the adoption of e-commerce in China's service small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have been lacking and limited so far. This paper discusses that China's service sector might learn e-commerce experience from developed countries, such as Australia, so that it can gain competitive edge at the global level in the long run. Totally, 523 and 353 service SMEs have been selected from China and Australia respectively. This research finding shows that there is no obvious gap in web design quality between China and Australia. However, there is an existing gap in web usability. This research believes that the web usability is the critical reason why China is behind Australia in e-commerce adoption. Finally, this paper makes recommendations for further research.

Information enrichment is generally considered a modern task of supplying specific-necessity metadata to an existing body of information, with the intent to enable a particular task. In this paper we suggest that information enrichment service systems have been existent for thousands of years, and that information has often been enriched in more generically useful ways than just for a single task. Viewing information enrichment as a service system provides a framework for thinking about how to better implement and leverage the wealth of knowledge in modern organizations.
