Reading comprehension is the process of acquiring knowledge and comprehending the meaning of printed items. It is a necessary language ability that must be mastered. Initial research revealed that the majority of the eighth-grade students of SMP (SLUB) Saraswati 1 Denpasar struggled with reading comprehension, particularly identifying general and specific information, textual meaning, and textual reference. Moreover, the purpose of the study was to determine whether the reading comprehension of the eighth-grade students of SMP (SLUB) Saraswati 1 Denpasar could be enhanced using KWL (Know Want Learn). To achieve the objective, the researcher performed classroom action research in two cycles. Research instruments, including tests and a questionnaire, were used to obtain the necessary data. Afterwards, the data were examined by comparing pre- and post-test findings. On the basis of the findings, it was evident that the subjects’ mean scores improved significantly between the pre- and post-tests. As supporting data, the questionnaire was also completed at the end of the last cycle; the results indicated good responses to the implementation of KWL. Therefore, it could be concluded that implementing KWL could increase reading comprehension of the eighth-grade students of SMP (SLUB) Saraswati 1 Denpasar.

Students with proficient writing skills can articulate their thoughts, beliefs, knowledge, emotions, and experiences. Students should be familiar with paragraph arrangement and general structure. However, they continued to struggle with writing paragraphs, particularly descriptive paragraphs. In addition, they were unable to organize it in terms of general structures, coherence, and unity. The primary purpose of this study was to examine whether the writing skills of the eighth-grade students of SMP Cipta Dharma Denpasar might be enhanced through small group discussion combined with picture. This research employed a two-cycle classroom action research design. The relevant data were obtained using instruments, including paragraph construction tests and a structured questionnaire. Following a cyclical research procedure, it was determined that small group discussion combined with picture was suitable for enhancing the writing skills of the subjects. It was evident from the findings of the pre-test, post-test 1, and post-test 2 that their writing skills had improved significantly. In addition, it was supported by the structured questionnaire, which revealed positive responses to the technique. It may be inferred that the writing skills of the eighth-grade students of SMP Cipta Dharma Denpasar could be improved by small group discussion combined with picture

This research was based on translation problems due to the absence of equivalent words found during the translation process. Translators are required to translate the source language with the appropriate context into the target language. Therefore, researchers use translation strategies and methods to overcome these problems to produce the right equivalent. This study uses a qualitative method that focuses on applying translation strategies and methods. The data for this study was sourced from the official website and statistical books from the Department of Environment and Forestry, Central Java Province. The object of research is a collection of words or phrases that do not have a direct equivalent in the target language because they are non-equivalent and have limited expression in the target language. The results of this study indicate that the use of translation strategies and methods can support the translation process to be more effective and overcome translation problems. In the future, it is hoped that this finding will be able to contribute by increasing understanding for readers as well as providing references for translators on statistics and forestry topics.

The purpose of the study is to describe perception of students on online learning. The research is a qualitative that employs a case study as the method of the research. It focuses on how they face online learning. The researcher took the data from the students in the first semester. The first semester students are regular students and workers (have part-time job while studying). To collect the data, each student was interviewed. The interview applied was semi-structured; a type of interview in the category of in-depth interviews, for instance, interviews that are more freely conducted when compared to structured interviews. The analyses from the students’ perception show that online learning is ineffective and most of students feel uninterested. They like teaching and learning in the classroom. Furthermore, some troubles in online learning emerged such as losing connection and adjusting with the online class (zoom / google meeting). The unclear and less interaction also become the problem of online learning. It needs of course several meetings offline at least in one semester. However, online learning should be applied for the students who cannot attend to classroom. Based on the interview, tools for online learning to use are WhatsApp, google classroom, google meeting, and Zoom meeting. In addition, the result of the research shows that the most interesting tool that the student use is zoom meeting since the students are able to experience face to face interaction either to the lecturers or the other students. Although there is sometimes a problem from the signal, they can communicate and ask directly to the lecturer at least. For the future, Hybrid learning can be employed as the technology grows.

This narrative research exposed four pre-service teachers’ emotions in pre-service teaching practice during the pandemic of Covid-19. It focused on how the pre-service teachers enacted their emotions while they performed various teaching challenges during the pandemic of COVID-19. Written reflections during the pre-service teaching from four pre-service teachers were taken as the data. By employing Andy Hargreaves’ emotional geographies theory, the research indicated that pre-service teachers experienced positive and negative emotions during the practice of teaching.

It focused on how the pre-service teachers enacted their emotions while they performed various teaching challenges during the pandemic of COVID-19. Written reflections during the pre-service teaching from four pre-service teachers were taken as the data. By employing Andy Hargreaves’ emotional geographies theory, the research indicated that pre-service teachers experienced positive and negative emotions during the practice of teaching.","PeriodicalId":154067,"journal":{"name":"Educational Tracker","volume":"214 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122618423","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
