Porcine And Bovine-Derived Ingredients: Islamic Rules in Halal Pharmaceutical Products 猪和牛源性成分:清真医药产品中的伊斯兰规则

For Muslims, ingesting or utilising any products derived from porcine is forbidden as it is considered unclean. Besides, although bovine is halal to be consumed, this ruling is only applicable if it is slaughtered strictly according to Islamic law (Shari’ah). In view of Islam’s imposing certain restrictions on the consumption of porcine- and bovine-based products, for Muslims who are seeking medication, this could limit their therapeutic options as many pharmaceutical products are sourced from both animals. This will eventually make it difficult for them to get treatment and will endanger their lives. Hence, it is crucial for every Muslim to have knowledge and understanding about the views of Islamic jurists (Fuqaha’) regarding the Islamic rules on pharmaceutical products containing porcine- and bovine-derived ingredients. In this article, a clear narration regarding porcine and bovine-derived pharmaceutical products, accompanied by a review of Islamic rules based on Islamic jurists, is presented.

Financing The Development of Artificial Intelligence Maid: An Analysis Of Pertinent Fiqhi Issues 为人工智能女仆的发展提供资金:相关教法问题分析

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the latest machine technology that is replacing the effort of humans and is the fastest-growing sector across the globe. The underlying ethos of AI is to create a secure ecosystem for every human endeavour. Investors are claiming that the invention of an AI assistant such as a robot maid is the future reality. The AI robot is unstoppable and will obstruct how things are done at home. The development of AI and the demand for it indicates a future challenge to domestic activities. Since technology is replacing human efforts, scholars and researchers are concerned about the permissibility of Islamic banks to finance AI projects for the development of robot-maid. A robot maid is likely to exploit gender issues simply because consumers might prefer an AI maid that is male or female. Social violation in the use of AI maid will likely trigger further queries. This study uses the doctrinal approach of the qualitative method to explore Islamic thresholds and analyzes the juristic consideration for financing the development of AI for human development. The study explains the understanding of AI, its contributions to the world economy, and some pertinent issues and challenges. This study found that the growth of AI interventions in homes and care services is a reality, but financing AI maids requires adherence to Islamic requirements, including Shariah compliance and consideration of ethical, economic, security, and social concerns.

Forex In The Eyes Of Shariah: A Qualitative Analysis In The Malaysian Context 伊斯兰教法眼中的外汇:马来西亚背景下的定性分析

The purpose of this study is to expound the fundamentals leading to the verdict about the permissibility of foreign exchange trading or simply forex. The jurisdiction will cover Quranic verses, Hadith and Islamic legal maxims or commonly known as qawaid fiqhiyyah. The contemporary views of the ulema were also discussed as the scope would later be focused in a Malaysian context. The primary data from a questionnaire to 100 Malaysian respondents would be presented. The findings show that most of the Malaysian respondents were aware of Forex trading but they had never attempted. This was due to their state of not well informed about Forex due to skepticism and extreme doubt. They also felt more secure not involved with this trading and this related strongly to their prejudice. Therefore, implications were covered in three spheres of influence: economic, social and national perspectives. Finally, recommendations for respective parties such as governments, auctioning bodies and general public would be mentioned as well in order to address the public incognizance about Forex from Sharia perspective. The research concluded that riba (usury) will never be accepted in any circumstances, and if Forex insists on incorporating this despised element, then this financial transaction might stay haram (forbidden) indefinitely, unless otherwise abiding the Islamic apparatus and guidelines.

The Death Khairat Fund, or the Death Khairat Money Scheme (DKMS), is a pure culture practiced among the Muslim community. Usually, this fund will be managed by the mosque institution to make it easier for the local community to make payments and get direct benefits in the event of death. This fund has become necessary for the average Muslim community in funeral management. This is because the benefit of this fund in providing equipment and assistance for complete funeral management has simplified the process of funeral management that needs to be done by the heirs. However, the study of the explanation of the Death Khairat Fund with any principle of Maqasid Shariah has not yet been studied, especially from the point of view of property protection (hifz mal). Therefore, this preliminary study analyses the relationship between the Death Khairat Fund and Maqasid Shariah. The researcher has succeeded in this study by using a qualitative method consisting of analysis of articles, newspapers, books, and interviews with the management of the Death Khairat Fund in the mosque, which was selected face-to-face has been done. As a result, the study found that the practice of Death Khairat Fund is very much in line with the concept of hifz mal from the point of view of Maqasid Shariah because the use of individual property in this fund can have a significant impact on the good of the people and does not lead to any harm and harm. A further study of the relationship between the Death Khairat Fund and other Maqasid Shariah concepts is necessary to see the extent of the importance and need of this fund from the Islamic perspective.

Pelestarian Warisan Kebudayaan Melayu Menyumbang Kepada Penjagaan Agama 保护马来文化遗产有助于保护宗教

Penciptaan manusia adalah sebuah penciptaan yang indah bukan dari sudut fizikalnya sahaja tetapi dari perkara luaran yang meliputinya juga. Di antara keindahan tersebut Allah SWT menjadikan manusia terbahagi kepada beberapa bangsa dan dari setiap bangsa terdapat pecahan suku-suku di dalamnya. Bangsa-bangsa manusia ini kemudiannya dilengkapkan dengan adat budaya tersendiri yang menjadi identiti dan membina jati diri mereka. Namun kebanyakan generasi kini berpandangan warisan budaya mereka adalah sebuah kemunduran dan perkara lapuk yang tiada impak yang signifikan dalam kehidupan di zaman moden ini lantas ianya dilupakan. Bertambah menyedihkan apabila budaya warisan bangsa lain lebih diagungkan dan diterima sebagai cara kehidupan berbanding warisan bangsa sendiri. Justeru artikel ini cuba meninjau bagaimana Islam menjaga warisan sesebuah bangsa dan melihatnya berperanan dalam menjaga agama dan nasab. Penulis menggunakan kaedah analisis dokumen dalam penulisan ini bagi melihat pandangan sarjana Islam dalam pelestarian sesebuah budaya dan kepentingannya. Hasil kajian menunjukkan budaya Melayu telah berintegrasi dengan ajaran Islam dan pelestariannya membawa kepada penjagaan agama Islam itu sendiri secara tidak langsung.

Stem cell research is currently surrounded by several pressing ethical and challenges as a result of the quick development of biotechnology. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to find out the ethical issues regarding the use of stem cells and correlate from an Islamic perspective, focusing on Malaysia. In this review, we outline an overview of the most significant ethical issues with stem cell application that the community especially Muslims should be aware of. The study applied a library-based methodology and gathered data about stem cells, their use, ethical concerns, and Islamic law with an emphasis on Malaysia from a range of sources, including books, websites and journals. The findings demonstrated that there are three main areas of ethical concern for stem cell technology from an Islamic perspective: human embryonic stem cells, stem cells used for aesthetic purposes, and stem cells used for therapeutic medicine. We attempted to correlate Malaysia's perspective with some of the Islamic perspective's points on all ethical concerns. We discovered that there are certain arguments towards every ethical issue from an Islamic perspective, and we tried to compare it to the perspective from Malaysia. Both the use of current ethical frameworks and careful evaluation from an Islamic perspective are important as this vast and diverse area of stem cell technology progresses, especially in Malaysia.

Over the recent years, the promotion of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) immoral behaviourhas been done publicly on online platforms such as instagram, facebook, twitter, tiktok and so on. Apart from that, several dating apps have been widely used for these purposes. Hence, the objective of this paper is to review and analyse the provisions of the Syariah Criminal Offences (Selangor) Enactment 1995 related to LGBT offences and to propose improvements to the existing provisions to prosecute LGBT offences committed on online platforms. This qualitative study uses a documentanalysis approach to collect data. The findings found that there are existing provisions that can be used to prosecute LGBT offences committed online. However, these existing provisions have several issues in terms of substantive, evidence and procedures that require further improvements.

Measuring The Quality Of Life (QoL) Of Villagers In Pulau Tuba, Langkawi 兰卡威岛图巴岛村民生活质量的测量

Having a good quality of life (QoL) is essential for a sustainable development of a community or society. In fact, the discussion on QoL has been at the centre stage ever since people realize its importance for the wellness of mankind. It is even more important when the concept is associated with sustainable development goal (SDG). Many believed that attaining QoL needs ample financial resources and physical amenities. Hence, living affluently with sufficient facilities and utilities can be considered as having good quality of life. What if the person is living with subsistence level of income and lack of facilities or amenities? What more if he is staying in a remote village of an island? Can he be considered as having poor quality of life?  Or perhaps, is he having no life at all? This study would attempt to answer the above questions by investigating the quality of life of those villagers settling in Pulau Tuba, Langkawi. Quantitative study in the form of survey is employed in getting the required information and data relating to the QoL of the villagers. In analyzing the data, descriptive analysis is used to measure the dimensions of QoL of the villagers. This study findings indicate that enjoying good quality of life is beyond luxurious comfort and complete physical amenities. Finding of this study is expected to shed light in looking into a much broader dimension of QoL.

Any fraud or wrongdoing that occurs in the halal food industry can have a severe impact on the safety and integrity of halal food products. Whistleblowing is one of the methods that can be used to combat fraudulent halal food and food safety issues. Some illegal, unsafe, or unethical behaviour may not be discovered by top management or Halal authorities. The safety and integrity of Halal food industry depend on the honesty of the food producers. Hence, whistleblowing is encouraged and should be practiced to counter the possibility of Halal food fraud occurrence. The purpose of this research is to determine the level of whistleblowing intention among employees of Halal certified food manufacturing companies and assess the level of factors influencing this intention (attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioural control, perceived organizational support, religious obligation, knowledge, personal cost reporting, personal responsibility, and seriousness of wrongdoing). The survey was collected among 210 of employees of Halal certified food manufacturing companies in Selangor via a structured questionnaire. The results revealed that the level of whistleblowing intention among employees is very good and most means scores of the factors influencing employee’s decision to whistleblow are positive and favourable. The low mean score for personal cost reporting suggests minimal perceived personal costs associated with whistleblowing. Recommendations to implement whistleblowing system as food fraud prevention needs to be explored as employees’ intention was positive. Suggestions are also presented to ensure that reporting any wrongdoing within companies has a positive effect in preventing such incident.

Dakwah digital kini semakin diterima oleh semua lapisan masyarakat dan merupakan model utama bagi menyampaikan pengajaran Islam pada era melania ini. Penggunaan internet juga sebati dalam kalangan generasi belia yang merupakan pelapis masa depan negara. Malah, golongan milenial ini turut mendekatkan diri dengan ilmu keagamaan menerusi pendekatan dunia maya khususnya aplikasi media sosial yang kian popular. Namun, perkembangan teknologi digital dan penggunaan media sosial telah mengundang pelbagai cabaran bagi mencapai keberkesanan dakwah Islam. Oleh itu, keberkesanan dakwah interaktif wajar ditekankan bagi memastikan dan melahirkan lebih ramai masyarakat yang berakhlak dan bertamadun. Objektif kajian yang ingin dijalankan adalah mengenal pasti pendekatan dakwah interaktif yang berkesan melalui media sosial khususnya dalam kalangan belia. Kajian ini dijalankan secara kualitatif dengan menggunakan kaedah kajian kepustakaan bagi mengumpulkan data primeri dan sekunder berkaitan kajian. Hasil kajian mendapati bahawa beberapa pendekatan dakwah secara dua hala (interaktif) melalui media sosial adalah signifikan. Hal ini kerana ia mampu memberikan perkembangan yang efektif terhadap golongan belia dari segi ideologi, memperbaiki diri dan kecenderungan mereka untuk mendalami ajaran Islam dengan lebih baik.
