Macroeconomic analysis is interested, among other things, in the relationships between the main aggregates in order to guide the decision-maker as to the use of one variable to act on another and achieve the expected results. This study falls within this perspective. Using the Structural Autoregressive Vector (SVAR), it empirically verifies, for data from 1960 to 2015, the feedback effects between consumption, public expenditure, gross fixed capital formation and GDP of the Congolese economy. It shows that the influences differ from one variable to another and that time modifies the short-term results, the economic theories being more in tune with the long-term realities in the DRC.

The awarding of a Nobel Prize allows its holder to enjoy a notoriety that sheds a brighter light on his research or his activity. While several foreign media and numerous researchers have returned to the contribution of the 2019 winners in terms of scientific “discoveries” and/or their commitment to evaluation in the service of development, the subject did not hold as much attention. attention neither in the press nor in the specialized journals in the DRC. This reflection proposes to fill, however slightly, this informational deficit and to launch, in the arena of objectivity, the debate of ideas on the evaluation of the interventions of the public authorities. It should be mentioned that the analysis which had been launched at the time in a tabloid, in the form of a forum, attracted the attention of several readers and their reactions led to the deepening of the subject. The paper summarizes the profile of the laureates, dwells on the evaluation of public policies as a field of research, with a critical look at experimental methods, and leads to direct and indirect institutional lessons for the DRC.

Energy needs are one of the sources of wood consumption in the world in general and in the least developed countries in particular, where cooking has remained essentially traditional in villages and on the outskirts of major centres. In urban areas, wood-consuming households remain the most numerous insofar as the electric current is very unstable or unavailable. This is the finding that a survey carried out in the Kivu district, in the heart of the popular commune of Masina, has just confirmed. However, the socio-economic, health and environmental benefits of improved cookstoves no longer need to be demonstrated. Hence the interest in strengthening their popularization in the hope of changing the behavior of households because improved stoves constitute an appropriate technology and a real alternative to the

Market gardening is very important for the food security and the socio-economic life of the population of the city of Kinshasa. They provide more than 70% of the fresh vegetables consumed in the city. However, the production practices of these vegetables can lead to their contamination by micropollutants such as toxic metals with potential health risks for consumers to be assessed. This research examines the accumulation of toxic metals in amaranth (Amaranthus viridis) leaves sold in four markets in the city of Kinshasa in order to assess the potential risks to consumers. The results show that concentrations of toxic metals in amaranth leaves during the dry and rainy seasons are very high. The contamination of vegetables can be explained by several factors, including chemicals used to prevent amaranth diseases, emissions from vehicles and motorcycles in fields located near major roads, and watering. Given the concentrations of toxic metals in pigweed leaves compared to the FAO/WHO limits, and the results of our risk calculations, excessive consumption of this vegetable may pose potential health risks to consumers.

The excessive consumption of antibiotics represents a serious risk to public health, by favoring the appearance of bacteria resistant to antibiotics. To fight against this scourge, various strategies, essentially consisting of raising awareness through communication and awareness-raising actions, have been put in place. However, despite these initiatives, the phenomenon of antibiotic resistance is only increasing, to the point that some experts fear the advent of a «post-antibiotic era», with the existence of bacteria highly resistant to antibiotic treatments. known. This contribution therefore sets itself the task of defining, in the perspective of preventive communication, the communication strategies, better the conditions for optimizing the communication strategies, so as to make the latter likely to produce populations a reasoned use of antibiotics.

Health is one of the primary concerns of public authorities throughout the world. In recent years, studies on its determinants have multiplied, with, at the heart of the debate, the economic and social determinants that are supposed to guide policies. Among these determinants of health, this article focuses on official development assistance, which is studied econometrically, using the ordinary least squares method, in relation to life expectancy in the DRC, based on time series data from 1970 to 2015. The results show that the aid received has a significant but negative impact on the health of the population, pointing to a problem of institutional quality that may negate the impact of financial assistance.
