Resilience through Recreation: How College Students’ Recreational Behavior at a Hispanic-serving Institution in New York City Mediated Negative Emotions after the First Year of the COVID-19 Pandemic 通过娱乐的复原力:2019冠状病毒病大流行一年后纽约市西班牙裔服务机构大学生的娱乐行为如何介导负面情绪

The well-being needs of college students have increased in recent years and were exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly among students of color living in urban environments such as New York City. This qualitative study explored how COVID-19 influenced recreational behavior of college students at a Hispanic-serving institution in New York City after the first year of the pandemic through the lens of the Social Determinants of Health. Findings indicated that participants experienced increased stress and anxiety due to the pandemic, barriers and influences on their recreational behavior, and how they experienced resilience through their recreational behavior. Higher education administrators could utilize these findings in providing an improved response to acute health crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic through additional support and outreach services to their students.Keywords: Recreation, Social Determinants of Health, COVID-19, Student Affairs, Higher Education

Examination of the Stress Factors Experienced by Coaches 教练员压力因素的研究

The aim of this study is to determine the factors that increase the dominance of sports coaches on coaches in recent years and show that it is a stressful job. Interview technique was used in the research carried out within the scope of qualitative research. A total of 83 football coaches aged between 32.24±4.14 (k=4.e=79) participated voluntarily in the study, in which the criterion sampling method, one of the purposive sampling methods, was used. The data collected with the semi-structured interview form were analyzed using the content analysis method. In line with the opinions of the coaches about the stress situations collected from the research findings, the opinions and suggestions of the coaches about the stress on the concept of performance pressure, interpersonal stress, intra-organizational stress and finally uncertainty are given. As a result, coaches stated that stress is a psychological condition for them, and it is a situation that is likely to be encountered at any time.Keywords: Sport, Stress, Trainer

Digital Literacy, Digital Addiction and Life Satisfaction: Research of Judo Athletes 柔道运动员的数字素养、数字成瘾与生活满意度研究

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between digital literacy, digital addiction, and life satisfaction among judo athletes. The study group of the research consists of N=139 active licensed judo athletes (N=77 female, N=62 male) who accepted to participate in the research completely voluntarily. In the collection of research data, the digital literacy scale developed by Ng (2012) and translated into Turkish by Hamutoglu et al. (2017), the digital addiction scale (Arslan et al., 2015), and the Satisfaction with Life Scale developed by Diener et al. (1985) and adapted into Turkish by Daglı and Baysal (2016) and a personal information form were used. The relational model included descriptive statistics as well as correlation and regression analysis. According to the regression analysis results, digital addiction did not have a significant effect on life satisfaction, while digital literacy had a positive and significant (β=0.193; p0.001) effect on life satisfaction. In conclusion, it was found that digital literacy has a positive effect on life satisfaction and that life satisfaction will increase as the level of digital literacy increases.Keywords: Digital Addiction, Digital Literacy, Judo Athletes; Life Satisfaction

The Digital Paradigm Shift: Challenges faced by HBCU sport management programs in light of modernization 数字化范式的转变:HBCU体育管理项目在现代化背景下面临的挑战

Sport Management as an academic field has experienced a significant expansion and transformation over the last four decades. With an increased influence of modernization such as new learning technologies and virtual learning, educators in the field have been forced to adapt instructional design, course delivery, and realign sport management curriculum with the demands of the present-day sport industry. This paradigm shift has fostered significant growth in sport management degree programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Leaders of these programs aim to meet the evolving needs of students in the areas of academic preparation and career readiness. However, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) that serve marginalized populations have experienced challenges as they strive to maintain robust academic sport management programming, foster student engagement, and prepare students for careers in the sports industry. These challenges are heightened in part due to various institutional disparities experienced by HBCUs. The purpose of this theoretical paper is to examine the impact that the paradigm shift has had on HBCU sport management programs and to discuss the outlook of these programs in lieu of modernization within sport management as both a profession and academic field.

Concussions in Collegiate Club Sports: Investigating Concussion Education, Knowledge, and Attitudes 大学俱乐部运动中的脑震荡:调查脑震荡教育、知识和态度

Approximately 9 million college students participate in organized sports, with 460,000 college athletes participating at the collegiate level (e.g., NCAA, NAIA) and the remaining 8.5 million playing club and intramural teams. Nationally, an estimated 1.7 to 3 million sports-related concussions (SRCs) occur per year. Despite the overwhelming number of student-athletes participating in collegiate club sports, literature on SRC education, knowledge and attitudes is limited when looking at collegiate club athletes. The purpose of this study is to explore current concussion education given to collegiate club sports athletes and understand players' concussion knowledge and attitudes. A cross-sectional study design using a modified version of Rosenbaum Concussion Knowledge and Attitudes Survey-Student Version (RoCKAS-ST) was emailed to all members within the 33 student-led club sport organizations at a Southeastern university. Seventy-one club athletes from 22 of the club sport organizations responded to the survey. Thirty-two participants (45.1%) reported that they have received at least one sports-related concussion and 39 (54.9%) reported never receiving a SRC. Fifty-five participants (77.5%) reported not receiving a concussion education. Total knowledge was found to have significant differences between participants who received a concussion education and participants who did not (t[69] = 1.135; p = 0.048). No significant differences were found in attitude between collegiate club sport athletes who received a concussion education and players who did not receive a concussion education (t[68] = 0.37; p = 0.700). The study indicated that a majority of collegiate club sport athletes do not receive a concussion education, which impacts their knowledge of concussions. Further research is needed to determine effective concussion prevention education for this population.

Investigation of Metaphorical Perceptions of University Students on the Concept of Sustainability 大学生对可持续性概念的隐喻认知调查

The aim of this study is to reveal the perceptions of university students, who will form the qualified manpower of their country and who are expected to use sustainability effectively in every field in the future, about the concept of "sustainability" through metaphors. In the study, the phenomenology design was used. The data of the research were collected from 337 university students studying at Kırklareli University Faculty of Science and Literature in the spring semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. The collected data were analyzed and interpreted with content analysis technique. According to the findings, university students produced 301 valid and 137 different metaphor images regarding the concept of “sustainability”. These produced metaphor images were then categorized by considering their common features. When the common features of these metaphors were examined, 8 different categories were reached. These; sustainability in the context of continuity, sustainability in the context of need, sustainability in the context of stability/order, sustainability in the context of struggle, sustainability in the context of resource conservation, sustainability in the context of guide, sustainability in the context of innovation and sustainability in the context of value. When the categories of metaphor images created by university students for the concept of "sustainability" are examined, it is seen that sustainability is perceived most in the context of continuity. In addition, when the categories reached were evaluated as a whole, it was seen that the perceptions of university students regarding the concept of "sustainability" were generally positive.

When the categories of metaphor images created by university students for the concept of \"sustainability\" are examined, it is seen that sustainability is perceived most in the context of continuity. Examining Life Satisfaction and Self-Compassion Among Students Attending a Historically Black College and University in the U.S. 美国一所历史悠久的黑人学院和大学学生的生活满意度和自我同情

This study aims to examine the relationship between life satisfaction and self-compassion among university students attending a historically black college and university (HBCU) in the U.S. Southeast. A non-experimental descriptive research design, which included a self-report questionnaire using the Satisfaction with Life Scale and Self-Compassion Scale was applied to this study. A total of 148 university students enrolled in leisure and health courses at the HBCU participated in the study. A significant association was found related to life satisfaction and measures of self-compassion. The association of life satisfaction and self-compassion was also measured by controlling for gender, GPA, and perceived health, thus indicating sub-scale of self-kindness may be a predictor of life satisfaction.

EXERCISE PRESCRIPTION FOR STAGES OF PREGNANCY AND POSTPARTUM PERIOD 孕期和产后运动处方

Exercise is a component of physical activity done with the intention of getting physically fit to carry out daily activities without undue stress. Habitual participation in exercise is beneficial to all categories of people, including pregnant women. The pregnancy period is regarded as a period of inactivity, but exercise during pregnancy has significant positive health benefits for the mother and the fetus. Despite the positive gains of regular engagement in exercise, many pregnant women do not participate in exercise. To increase participation of pregnant women in exercise, there is a need for women to understand the positive effects of exercise on women during pregnancy and to know exercise protocols for all the stages of pregnancy and the postpartum period. It is believed that if women are aware of the gains of participation in correct exercise regimen during pregnancy, they will be encouraged to engage in it regularly. Through this study, exercise professionals will be kept abreast of the latest research discussions in this area.

Differences in Reading by the Retention Status of English Learners: A Texas, Statewide Investigation 英语学习者阅读记忆状况的差异:一项德州调查

In this study, the degree to which Kindergarten retention was related to the reading performance of English Learners in Grade 3 was addressed. Through inferential statistical analyses of Texas statewide data, statistically significant differences were yielded between English Learners who had been retained in Kindergarten and their counterparts who had not been retained in Kindergarten. English Learners who had been retained in Kindergarten performed statistically significantly poorer on the Approaches Grade Level standard, the Meets Grade Level standard, and the Masters Grade Level standard on the Texas mandated assessment in Grade 3 than did English Learners who had not been retained. Clearly, retention in Kindergarten of these English Learners did not yield the intended outcomes. Implications and recommendations for future research are discussed.

Texas Elementary School Teacher and Student Demography: A Multiyear Investigation 德克萨斯州小学教师和学生人口统计:一项多年调查

In this longitudinal descriptive investigation, an analysis of the ethnic/racial diversity of teachers and of students in Texas public elementary schools from the 2010-2011 school year through the 2018-2019 school year was conducted. Descriptive statistics revealed decreases in the average percentages of White teachers and of White students in Texas public elementary school over 9 school years of data examined herein. The average percentages of Asian, Black, and Hispanic student and teachers increased from 2010-2011 to 2018-2019. Through comparisons of the ethnic/racial diversity of teachers and of students, clear disparities were evident. Higher percentages of White teachers were present than percentages of teachers of color and percentages of students of color. Implications for policy and for practice, as well as recommendations for future research, were discussed.
