The development of electric transport technology creates an increased demand for rare elements, including lithium, which is an essential raw material for the production of batteries. The present study describes the current methods of obtaining lithium. These methods were compared in terms of cost and cost-effectiveness. The characteristics of the global and European lithium market are presented and the prospects and limitations of its development are discussed. A method has been proposed that allows for the development of domestic lithium production based on geothermal deposits. Recovering significant amounts of lithium from geothermal deposits can be achieved thanks to very high brine flows (over 200 m3/h) and a significant share of this element’s ions in the solution (over 260 mg/L). Possible lithium production was estimated based on the existing geothermal installations and scenarios of profitability or implementation were presented.

We present an application of the direct (inductive) limit approach to Toeplitz operators on Segal–Bargmann space. The space corresponds to some analytic functions of infinitely many variables that are square integrable with respect to a Gaussian measure. There are different approaches to such operators that only seem equivalent but lead to different properties of Toeplitz operators. Among the used tools are tensor products, isometric inductive limits and frames.

In the paper we consider a Kim–Markowitz type financial market model. We change the basic model (used in 1988 by Kim and Markowitz) and we add two groups of investors in relation to the size of the initial portfolio. The so-called small investors start with 100 000 $ (as in the Kim–Markowitz model), and so-called large investors start with 4 900 000 $. We want to check if the portfolio insurance strategy has a greater impact on small or large investors. First, we analyze simulations with rebalancers only, and we investigate whether a bigger difference of the initial percentage of shares in the portfolio among small and large investors will make one of these groups richer at the end of the simulation. Next, we add also Constant Proportion Portfolio Insurance investors. It is shown that in the normal/regular market (without very high intraday volatility of the stock price) the group of large investors obtain better result than the group of small investors. The existence of CPPI (constant proportion portfolio insurance) investors on the market makes the intraday volatility higher and so in there markets the large investors perform worse than small one.

The article is an analysis of three editions of the Vistula tourist guide from the 1930s, the author of which was Andrzej Podżorski (1886–1971) – a teacher, social activist and theosophist. Due to his wide interests, the constantly modified and imroved publication, compared to the then tourist publications covering the Silesian Beskids, appears as a new and thoroughly original idea. In addition to the standard tourist knowledge, suggestions for trips and practical tips for quests of the resort in Wisła, the author in his work provides information about culture (including an esoteric center for example), active social organizations and visits of famous writers, unheard of in other publications. Thanks to this, Andrzej Podżorski's guide should be placed in the row of the first modern tourist publications in Cieszyn Silesia, and the author should be called a pioneer of cultural tourism.

The limiting drawing ratio is determined in the Swift deep drawing cup test or the AEG cupping method. However, the results obtained with the two methods may differ significantly. The total number of three measurement points (blank diameters) in the AEG method is insufficient. The paper proposes a modification of this method by using a larger number of measuring points, both for the maximum drawing force and the fracture force. Other, than linear, types of approximation functions were also analyzed (power, exponential function). With a greater number of points, the curvilinear character of the change in the maximum value of the drawing force as a function of the drawing ratio K1 was found, as well as the decrease in the fracture force value with the increase of the blank diameter. It was found that for the determination of the limiting drawing ratio by the modified AEG cupping method, the optimum is the description of the maximum force variation with a power function based on three representative measurement points, and the fracture force with a linear function based on at least two points. This made it possible to obtain results comparable to those obtained with the Swift cup test.
