Endometriosis is a condition described as growth of the endometrium outside the uterine cavity. Lesions can occur in many areas of the body, including the pleural cavity and lungs. Etiology of this condition is still unknown. Two medical cases are described: a 47-year-old patient reporting chest pain, who had resection of the apex of the right lung a year earlier, and 41-year-old patient with frequent lower abdominal pain and recurrent haemoptysis for about 16 years, which had been the cause of multiple hospitalizations in pulmonary departments. Both patients underwent several examinations – tomography, MRI, and surgical diagnostics. In both cases, the tests showed the presence of thoracic endometriosis. The described cases indicate diagnostic and therapeutic difficulties in patients with thoracic endometriosis. In conclusion, treatment of the manifestation of thoracic endometriosis is a great challenge because of limitation of the possibilities for surgical procedures and non-invasive diagnostic tests.

Introduction and Objective. Tooth agenesis may be present even in 9.6% of individuals of both genders, with the predominance in permanent dentition. The aim of the study was to present a review of the literature on the etiology of dental agenesis, with particular emphasis on the genetic background and the associated syndromes of congenital abnormalities. Objective and Review Methods. Online databases were searched: Pubmed, GoogleScholar and Scopus. 32 articles from the last 18 years were qualified for the study and used in this review. Inclusion criteria were: children, congenital disorders, syndromic diseases, missing teeth, tooth agenesis. The study takes into account both syndromes common in the population and rare disorders.

Introduction and Objective. Periodontal disease is one of the many diseases of the oral cavit. Periodontium is defined as the tissues that surround and hold the tooth in the socket. Periodontitis may lead to the loss of hard and soft tissues, resulting in the loss of dentition. The current standards for the treatment of periodontal disease are based on both surgical treatment and non-surgical treatment. The subject of research among many scientists is the effect of flavonoids – substances of plant origin, on periodontal diseases. This literature review aims to present the possibility of using flavonoids as adjunctive treatment in periodontal diseases. Review Methods. Articles in English were searched using PubMed databases to evaluate the effect of flavonoids in the prevention and treatment of periodontal disease. The bibliography was reviewed to eliminate duplicate works. Brief description of the state of knowledge. The anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antiresorptive properties of flavonoids are the main factors influencing their use in the prevention of periodontal disease. Thanks to these three properties, the risk of periodontal disease is significantly reduced, which is why extracts from plants with a high flavonoid content are increasingly used in products for daily oral hygiene. Summary. The antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antiresorptive effects of flavonoids make them an important factor in the treatment of periodontal disease. Further research in the use of natural medicinal substances of plant origin is an important aspect for the development of modern medicine.
