This research aimed at studying the impact of a learning strategies-based program on improving EFL Iraqi Preservice Teachers’ writing skills. The participants of this research were (30) EFI Iraqi Preservice Teachers at Tikrit University. The research adopted the quasi-experimental design using two groups: an experimental group (n = 30), and a control one (n = 30). To collect data, the researcher used one instrument; an EFL writing skills test. The researcher taught both groups: the experimental group was taught through a learning strategies-based program, while the control group was taught through the regular method of teaching. Research results revealed that there were statistically significant differences between the mean score of the experimental group and the control group students in the EFL writing skills test. Moreover, the effect size of the program was found to be high. Therefore, this research recommended using a learning strategies-based program in teaching the four skills of the English language at different university levels.

This research aimed at investigating the impact of using dictogloss strategy to improve motivation towards learning EFL writing sub-skills of Nigerian secondary stage students. The research employed a quasi-experimental design to investigate the effectiveness of dictogloss strategy. One hundred and twenty (120) students were selected to participate in the research. Both experimental and control groups consisted of two intact classes of sixty (60) students each. The instrument titled “The motivation scale for writing skills” was designed by the researcher. The instrument was administered to determine the pretest and posttest performance of the two groups. The collected data were analyzed using a t-test for independent samples. Motivation towards learning EFL writing skills of the students has developed due to applying dictogloss strategy. Recommendation was made that the Ministry of Education should organize workshops and seminars to train its teachers to improve their methods, techniques, and strategies to improve motivation towards learning EFL writing skills to go inconformity with language learners’ needs. It was also recommended that curriculum planners should use dictogloss technique to prepare the secondary stage students curriculum. This ensures students’ exposure to the materials and activities for facilitating motivation towards learning writing skills performance through dictogloss in schools.

The present study aimed at developing official language primary school pupils′ EFL speaking skills and moral values through the use of a program based on fables. Participants of the study were 60 fourth year Defino official language school pupils at Fayoum governorate. They were randomly assigned to two groups; experimental and control, 30 pupils each. The researcher prepared an EFL speaking skills test, an EFL speaking rubric and a moral values scale . Having pre administered the speaking skills test, the moral values scale and taught the experimental group using the program based on fables, the participants were post-tested . The results showed that the use of the program based on fables proved to be effective in developing fourth year official language primary school pupils′ EFL speaking skills and moral values. The study concluded with some recommendations and suggestions for pupils, teachers and curriculum designers. In addition, suggestions for further research were provided.

The present study aimed at investigating the effect of using E-formative assessment based program on improving primary stage pupils' reading comprehension skills and their motivation towards reading comprehension. The targeted reading subskills were (skimming for general ideas – scanning for specific information – guessing the meaning of unfamiliar words from context - making inferences – expressing opinions-sequencing of events). The study adopted the quasi-experimental design using thirty two 6 th year primary stage pupils as the study participants. They were divided into two groups: an experimental group received the E-formative assessment treatment and a control group received the regular classroom activities. Instruments designed by the researcher and used in the study were an EFL reading comprehension skills test , reading comprehension skills questionnaire and a reading motivation scale. The experimental treatment was conducted during the first semester in the academic year 2022/2023. Results showed that the experimental group outperformed the control group both in reading comprehension and motivation due to the experimental treatment. These results indicated that the E-formative assessment led to developing pupils' EFL reading comprehension skills and motivation in English language. It was recommended that E-formative assessment through Nearpod should be used in EFL teaching to enhance reading comprehension skills and other language skills.
