Dispersing agents play important roles in polyester dyeing with disperse dyes. The purpose of this work is to determine the influence of dispersing agents on the adsorption and desorption rate of polyester dyeing with CI Disperse Blue 284. Polyester fabric was dyed at HTHP method using two types of dispersing agents at different concentrations. The performances studied were the changes in dye transfer rate, K/S values of the dyed samples and dye bath concentration. The rate of adsorption and desorption of disperse dyes were affected significantly not only by the type but also the concentration of dispersing agents.

Fiber reinforced composite materials are attractive because of their properties such as high toughness, water resistance and can be adapted to meet the specific needs of a variety of applications. Incorporation of natural fibers can reduce the dependency over synthetic fibers. In this work, Jute glass fiber reinforced composites are fabricated by simple hand lay-up technique using epoxy resin as a matrix and various mechanical properties like tensile strength, flexural strength, impact strength and also the water absorption properties of the composite specimens are evaluated and analysed thoroughly. It is observed that incorporation of optimum amount of jute fibre with glass fibre improved mechanical properties can be achieved. Finally cost of composites are analysed and compared.

This research deals with the effect of heat setting on mechanical properties of the woven fabrics containing spandex. The heat setting treatment given to stretchable fabrics is an important factor in deciding the eventual mechanical comfort properties of the garment. However, finishing treatment also influence fabric mechanical properties as well as hand behavior of the fabric. In this research, the relative potential of both finishing treatment and heat setting process were investigated in order to set appropriate and cost effective finishing route to cotton stretch woven fabric. A total of three woven samples were produced using the same construction parameters. The 100% cotton warp yarns spun on open end spinning system were used. The weft yarns were the cotton wrapped spandex-core spun yarns. The different processing routes were followed to study the effect of heat setting and finishing process. The fabrics without heat set exhibits higher values for all mechanical properties required for clothing i.e. higher elongation, lesser growth, higher tensile and tear strength, and larger crease recovery angle without any remarkable increase in shrinkage potential both in warp and weft directions. The fabrics without heat set exhibits higher total hand value than heat set treated fabrics for summer wear application. Very limited research studies have been reported with respect to the stretch fabrics. Therefore, a novel attempt has been made in this research work to investigate the role of important processes like heat setting and finishing on the behavioral properties of ‘stretch woven fabric’.

In textile, Finishing is one of the significant processes which augment the performance of the fabric and functional properties as well. Health is always thought to be an indispensable requirement for human beings to live without any stress and it aids to give the best output of any work. Hygiene is also one of the important elements to live comfortably. A mosquito repellent textile protects the human beings from the bite of mosquitoes and ensures safety from the diseases like malaria and dengue fever. Medicinal plants like neem (Azadirachta indica), tulashi (Ocimum tenuiflorum) & mint-leaf (Mentha) etc. are used for induction of organic mosquito repellent activity and all of them are ecofriendly. This project is an exiguous endeavor in developing an eco-friendly mosquito repellent finished fabric using the herbal extract from neem, tulshi and mint-leaf .The extracted chemicals are finished on to the fabric by pad-dry-cure process & exhaust process and are evaluated using a mosquito repellency activity test .Then the repellency behavior of fabrics were checked after washing at three intervals – 5th,7th & 9th washes .Finally, the finished fabrics showed a great amount of mosquito repellent activity for both knit and woven fabric which was calculated in percentage.

The article proposes to use the Euler equations to describe the motion of a stationary flow in the cleaning zones, which allows determining the laws of pressure, density and velocity distribution along the arc of contact of a moving layer of raw cotton with a mesh surface in the process of impact impact with spikes on the pulp. It has been established that the pressure, densities and flow rates along the cleaning arc as a result of hammer spikes vary in steps, with a decrease in pressure and density and an increase in the flow velocity along this arc.

In the paper, several relatively new aspects of testing of functional clothing are discussed, such as the effect of moisture and testing time on water vapour permeability of fabrics as well as the effect of the testing time on thermal resistance value of fabrics tested in Skin Model type testers. Also the difference between thermal resistance and thermal absorptivity of fabrics was explained. It was concluded, that there are still some unsolved problems in the above areas, which should attract the attention of textile scientists and technologists.

The handloom sector is yet to produce an ample size of entrepreneurship despite its potential in the globalization era. However, even after continuous intervention by the Government and other entities, the sector has miserably failed in creating an entrepreneurial climate for the community. The study identifies numerous factors responsible for these conditions and suggests suitable interventions and strategies to alter the situation that exists. Therefore, two prominent handloom clusters have been taken in India and the primary study was conducted in both the clusters using a qualitative approach. The findings of the study reveal a that number of skilled and semi-skilled weavers express to join as an entrepreneur if their issues and development factors like better credit system, a research center for trend forecasting at the local level, technological upgradation, regular quality training, feeling of ownership of stakeholders, and incubation center, etc., could be taken care of by the Government and other private-entity companies and NGOs. Besides, most of the master weavers claim that lack of getting entrepreneurial status is debarred from the government benefits although they are already into handloom enterprises. Although the Government has many schemes for their upliftment, not a single weaver from the communities, has registered himself as a business entity under the companies' act or even operate as a sole proprietor. So, there is an opportunity for entrepreneurship in the cluster if impeding issues are considered and implemented.

Mesh count effect on the design and quality of printed fabric in screen printing was investigated after printing dot design on knit fabric using different mesh count screens and different types of ink. The design effect was evaluated by visual assessment as well as microscopic observation. Mesh opening area of each screen type was calculated from respective digital microscope images to find the possibility of the amount of ink passing through the screen and level of print detail, produced in dot design on the screen. Also, print coverage, saw-tooth effect, line sharpness, etc. were examined by measuring different distances, the diameter of dots, etc. in printed fabric and were compared with image positives. The quality of the printed fabric was assessed by color difference, color fastness.
