MOTIVATION ROLE FOR LEARNING ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE 英语作为外语学习的动力作用

Abstract Background: Motivation is a central aspect clarifying the achievement and failure for learning English or other foreign language. Identifying the motivation to improve and maintain on learning activities or process or learning a language which have been depend on internal strengthen or internal mechanism. Objectives: Motivated students will use an active learning attitude to learn and express a keen interest who is learning, and concentrate in class to gain knowledge. Method: In this paper, the best previous research papers has been reviewed, and it has found that the investigator defines the term motivation, types of motivation, the role of motivation in language learning and crucial factors of motivation. Result: The learners were motivated both integratively and instrumentally. The achievement in learning English and academic performance in general courses were highly noteworthy.
摘要背景:动机是决定英语或其他外语学习成败的核心因素。确定学习活动或学习过程的改进和保持的动机,这些动机依赖于内部强化或内部机制。目标:积极上进的学生会以积极的学习态度学习,表现出浓厚的学习兴趣,在课堂上集中精力获取知识。方法:本文在回顾前人研究成果的基础上,对动机的概念、动机的类型、动机在语言学习中的作用以及动机的关键因素进行了界定。结果:学习者获得了综合动机和工具性动机。在英语学习上取得的成绩和在通识课程上的成绩都是非常值得注意的。

THE INFLUENCE OF PICTURE BOOKS MEDIA TOWARDS STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY MASTERY 绘本媒介对学生词汇掌握的影响

In this part, the writer would like to explain about the Effectiveness of using picture books media towards students’ vocabulary mastery and to know and describe the average score of the students’ vocabulary mastery who learn through picture book media.  The method of this research was conducted by using experimental method. The population of this research was the students at the first semester of the eighth grade  at MTs Negeri 1 Bandar Lampung 357 students in 10 classes. In this research, the writer got VIII A as the experimental class there are 33 students  and VIII B as the control class there are 33 students. Intaking the sample, the writer used random sampling technique. In collecting the data, the writer used multiple choice test to measure the students’ reading comprehension. Multiple choice or objective response is a form of an objective assessment in which respondents are asked to select only correct answers from the choices offered as a list.In analyzing the data, the writer used .After analyzing the data used formula. Based on the result, the writer found that average score of student’s reading comprehension in experimental class higher than control class (). It means that, Picture book media were successful to increase the students’ vocbulary mastery. Then, the writer also concluded there is significant influence of picture books media  towards students’ vocabulary mastery at eighth class of MTs  Negeri 1 Bandar Lampung. It was proved by the result of calculation by using formula that  was higher than ttabel ( 3.75> 2.00 > 2.66). Therefore, picture book media  is an effective strategy which can be used by the teacher to improve students’ vocabulary mastery.
在这一部分中,作者想要说明使用绘本媒体对学生词汇掌握的有效性,了解和描述通过绘本媒体学习的学生词汇掌握的平均分。本研究采用实验方法进行。本研究的对象为南榜市内杰里第一中学八年级第一学期的学生,共10个班357名学生。在本次研究中,笔者选取了A班作为实验班,有33名学生,B班作为对照班,有33名学生。在样本的选取上,作者采用了随机抽样的方法。在收集数据的过程中,作者采用多项选择题测试来衡量学生的阅读理解能力。多项选择或客观回答是客观评估的一种形式,要求受访者从提供的选项列表中选择正确的答案。在对数据进行分析时,作者使用了。根据实验结果,笔者发现实验班学生的阅读理解平均分高于对照组()。这说明绘本媒体在提高学生词汇掌握方面取得了成功。然后,作者还得出结论,绘本媒体对南榜第一班八年级学生的词汇掌握有显著的影响。用公式计算的结果证明,其结果大于表中所示(3.75> 2.00 > 2.66)。因此,绘本媒体是教师提高学生词汇掌握的有效策略。

BLACK FEMINISM IDEAS AS PORTRAYED IN HOMAGE TO MY HIPS POEM BY LUCILLE CLIFTON 黑人女权主义思想是为了向露西尔·克利夫顿的《我的臀部》诗致敬

This research discusses a poem written by Lucille Clifton entitled homage to my hips. The researchers aim to describe the portrayal of black feminism ideas inside the poem to raise awareness regarding the issues of discrimination toward the black community especially women. This study aims to answer the question of how is the black feminism ideas portrayed in the poem entitled homage to my hips by Lucille Clifton. This research used descriptive qualitative method typically library research with textual analysis since the data of this research are in the form of words and phrases within the stanza. The data source is the poem entitled Homage to My Hips poem by Lucille Clifton, and data sources are the poet’s background of life, journals, and previous studies. This research used intersectionality and black feminism thought theory as the approaches. In order to answer the research question, the researchers used the parameters of black feminism ideas according to the black feminist thought and intersectionality theory to capture the ideas of black feminism in the poem. The results of this research show that the poem entitled homage to my hips by Lucille Clifton is portrayed the ideas of black feminism, which strongly ignores and rejects the continuous approaches of the oppression system both in practice and the ideas that justify it, based on the parameters that cover the existence of black feminism according to the black feminist thought and intersectionality approaches.

THE INFLUENCE OF COMIC STRIPS TOWARDS STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION ON RECOUNT TEXT 连环画对学生阅读理解的影响

This research aimed to know the influence of comic strips towards students’ reading comprehension. This technique helped the students to comprehend the story by imagining it with the strip of pictures. The objective of the research was to know the influence of comic strips towards students’ reading comprehension in recount text. In this research the writer used experimental method or known as descriptive quantitative research. The population was 48 students in 2 classes. The sample was taken by using Total Sampling Technique. The writer took all of the classes as the sample of research namely experimental and control class. It consisted of 45 students; the other students were absence. The main technique in measuring students’ reading comprehension was multiple choice which consisted of 40 items test. Each item has four options a,b,c, and d. The score each item was 2.5. In calculating the data analysis, the writer used t-test formula. Based on the data analysis, the writer got the result that  was accepted. It was obtained that = 4.45, for α= 0.05 was 1.68 and for α=0.01 was 2.42 (4.45 > 1.68 < 2.42). So, was accepted. It meant that there was significant influence of comic strip toward students’ reading comprehension on recount text at the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 8 Bandar Lampung in 2021/2022. Based on the result of the research, it is clear that comic strips had an influence to the students’ reading comprehension, especially in recount text.
本研究旨在了解连环画对学生阅读理解的影响。这种方法帮助学生通过想象故事和图片来理解故事。本研究的目的是了解连环画对学生叙事文本阅读理解的影响。在本研究中,作者采用了实验方法或称为描述性定量研究。总共48名学生,分为两个班。采用全采样法采集样本。笔者以所有班级为研究样本,即实验班和对照班。它由45名学生组成;其他学生都缺席了。测试学生阅读理解能力的主要方法是40题选择题测试。每个题目有a、b、c、d四个选项,每个题目的得分为2.5分。在计算数据分析时,作者使用了t检验公式。在数据分析的基础上,得出了被接受的结果。得到= 4.45,α= 0.05 = 1.68, α=0.01 = 2.42 (4.45 bb0 1.68 < 2.42)。所以,被接受了。这意味着在2021/2022年,连环画对SMA Negeri 8 Bandar Lampung小学10年级学生阅读理解的影响是显著的。研究结果表明,连环画对学生的阅读理解有明显的影响,尤其是在叙述文本中。

THE INFLUENCE OF THINK PREDICT READ AND CONNECT STRATEGY TOWARDS STUDENTS’ READING ABILITY 思维预测阅读和连接策略对学生阅读能力的影响

Many students in Senior High School cannot master reading ability it might be caused by the students’ inability of using dictionary, inability in comprehending the text and unfamiliarity of words. In overcoming this problem, the researcher tried to used of think predict read and conect strategy. In reading ability this strategy can help the students in comprehending the text easily. The objective of the research was to know the influence of of think predict read and conect strategy towards students’ reading ability. In this research the writer used experimental method. The population of this research was 281 students. The sample was taken by using Cluster Random Sampling technique. In data collecting technique the writer used test, the test was multiple choice, consisted of 40 items. Based on the result of the data analysis and computation which used the formula of ttest, the result of analysis the data is significant, which is ttest > ttab : 4.03 > 1.67. From the result of analysis data, the writer could to give some conclusions as 1).The average score of the students’ reading ability who were taught by think, predict, read, and connect strategy was higher than who were taught with conventional strategy. It was seen from average score of test on experimental class is higher than the average score of control class X1 = 76.2 > X2 = 67.78. 2).There is a significant influence of giving translation assignment towards students’ English reading ability. It was seen from the result of ttest > ttab : 4.03 > 1.67.

During the research from the modern socio-political science assert that the culture of speech and rhetoric are one of the most important issues in the evolutionof societyIn this connection, in the works of Persian and Tajik thinkers, one can frequently find different aspects of this problem and features of the use of rhetoric. Particularly, the artistic word, which has a social content, promote to accelerate the process of change in society.

RETHINKING OF INTELLECTUAL INTERVENTION ON THE SUBALTERN VOICE 对智力干预下层声音的再思考

Postcolonial theory on subaltern is presented in order to examine the subaltern’s voice in which its status is still debatable, whether they can voice for themselves or not. According to Spivak, subaltern does not have their own voice. She then proposes the idea of letting the intellectual intervention in voicing subaltern’s voice. However, her proposal is opposed by some theorist; one of them is Homi Baba. He believes that there is no need to borrow intellectual voice because the subaltern voicing themselves, due to the ambivalence of the colonizer’s power. This paper will examine how the debate related to the intellectual intervention in voicing the subaltern voice by contextualizing in the case of Sati and Bhuvaneswari.

Power in itself is not a new concept; it is as older as our civilization. Power is the subject of study as its pattern is dubious. In the present day, one can easily witness a lot of power chaos in the academy's atmosphere. It demeans the institution's glory, and influences lot the learners' lives that are the future pillars of the nation. K.L.Kamal's Campus: A Novel deals with the political hegemony and exploitation scene of the academy atmosphere. The presented novel has sketched the agony of the Vice-Chancellor who has witnessed and suffered in power game despite having power in his hands. The power and ideology get a clear depiction under the observing body of the text. The presented paper will also try to analyze the concept of power and hegemony used and analyzed by the academicians. The presented paper will try to catch all the power points and roles of academia by analyzing the text in its most total form.

AN ANALYSIS OF INFLECTIONAL MORPHOLOGY USED IN STUDENTS’ WRITING 学生写作中屈折词形的分析

The study aimes to analyse inflectional morphology used in students’ writing. It is qualitative study. There were 73 students the fourth semester of English department of STKIP PGRI Bandar Lampung who were taken purpossively as the sample. It is found that, from 554 sentences, there are 17.15% (or 95 words) errors made by the students in the forms of nouns, 19.13% (or 106 words) errors in the forms of pronouns and determiners, 96.2% (or 533 words) errors in the forms of verbs, and 2.53% (or 14 words) errorrs in the forms of adjectives. Based on the results, it is known that the EFL learners mostly made errors in using verbs in the term of infectional mophology.
本研究旨在分析学生在写作中使用的屈折词形。这是定性研究。有目的地选取南榜港港理工学院英语系第四学期73名学生作为样本。结果发现,在554个句子中,学生在名词形式上的错误占17.15%(或95个词),代词和限定词的错误占19.13%(或106个词),动词形式的错误占96.2%(或533个词),形容词形式的错误占2.53%(或14个词)。结果表明,英语学习者在感染形态方面的动词使用错误较多。

PLACING CULTURE IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING: THE INDONESIAN EFL STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION 文化融入英语教学:印尼英语学生的认知

This research article presents the study about the EFL students’ perception on placing culture in ELT practice, especially in Indonesia context. The purpose of this survey study is to examine students’ perception on the integration of culture into ELT practice. The participants were the third-semester students in Mathematics Education Study Program, STKIP PGRI Bandar Lampung (Institute of Teachers Training and Education of PGRI Bandar Lampung), Indonesia. The data was collected using a questionnaire which was posted for the students who were taking the compulsory English subject. It is found that tertiary level students in Indonesia have realized the necessity and importance of placing culture in learning English. One of the importance is that placing culture into English classes could encourage students’ interest and motivation in learning English. The students also agree that their English language skills, speaking, writing, reading and listening, influenced by the existence of cultural content in their learning activities could be improved. Consequently, the culture-based materials are suggested to be developed.
本研究以印尼为研究对象,探讨英语学生在英语教学实践中对文化情境的认知。本调查研究的目的是考察学生对文化融入英语教学实践的看法。参与者是印度尼西亚STKIP PGRI班达楠榜(PGRI班达楠榜教师培训和教育研究所)数学教育研究项目第三学期的学生。数据是通过对选修必修英语科目的学生进行问卷调查收集的。研究发现,印尼的高等教育学生已经意识到将文化融入英语学习的必要性和重要性。其中一个重要的是,将文化融入英语课堂可以激发学生学习英语的兴趣和动力。学生们也一致认为,在学习活动中文化内容的存在影响下,他们的英语语言技能,包括说、写、读和听都得到了提高。因此,建议开发以培养为基础的材料。
