"To improve the energy storage density and efficiency of lead-free ferroelectric ceramics, the ternary Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3-SrTiO3-BaZrO3 ferroelectric system was studied. All ceramics were fabricated by a conventional solid-state reaction method and sintered at 1150 oC for 2 h. The crystal structure, electric-field-induced polarization, energy storage density, and efficiency properties of all samples were analyzed. The X-ray diffraction patterns show that the addition of BaZrO3 in the Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3-SrTiO3 system influences a phase transition from tetragonal to a pseudocubic structure. The electric field-induced-polarization loops confirm the phase transition from ferroelectric to relaxor in Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3-SrTiO3-BaZrO3 ceramics, which increases the energy storage density and efficiency of the samples. The energy storage density and efficiency of pure Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3-SrTiO3 (x = 0) were ~ 0.2 J/cm3 and ~ 29%. The addition of 1% BaZrO3 increases the energy storage density and efficiency of the sample to ~0.4 J/cm3 and ~74%. The further increase in the BaZrO3 content to x = 0.03 shows the energy storage density of ~ 0.38 J/cm3 with an energy storage efficiency of ~ 97%. The results indicate promising lead-free ferroelectric ceramic candidates for energy storage capacitor applications."

Bentonite derived from Di Linh, Lam Dong has a low SiO2/Al2O3 ratio (1.29), so the montmorillonite content in the bentonite is quite low. The mineral and chemical compositions show that this bentonite is of low quality and contains many impurities. A series of experimental conditions were considered to provide the appropriate process and conditions for refining to enhance the quality and improve the specific surface area of Di Linh bentonite. Specifically, the bentonite (2 wt.%) was soaked for 24 hours in water before stirring for 8 hours at 1000 rpm. After drying, the refined bentonite was annealed for 2 hours at 500 oC in a furnace. The final product obtained with the basal spacing of 17.38 Å and the specific surface area of 72.97 m2g-1 was used to adsorb Pb2+ and active dyes. Thanks to the increase in the layer spacing and the specific surface area, both the adsorption capacity and the adsorption efficiency of Ben2-24-8-2 increased by 2.8 times compared to bentonite. While the dye adsorption took place slowly, the adsorption of Pb2+ ions was very fast and reached equilibrium after only about 0.5 hours. The Pb2+ ion adsorption capacity was 61.72 mg/g. The adsorption efficiency was 95.24% when using the Ben2-24-8-2 content of 2 g/l.

When a grand bus moves on the road, aerodynamic forces and moments can be the leading cause of vehicle instability and accidents. Therefore, studying the influence of aerodynamic forces and moments on the instability of grand buses is a matter of concern. This article investigates bus' safety when moving in crosswind conditions with three types of motion instability: loose contact, rollover, and sideslip. A static model is used to determine the speed limits when the vehicle is unstable. The basic equations are selected based on the assumption that the vehicle moves straight in the driving line on the road. The aerodynamic forces and moments are characterized by the aerodynamic coefficients determined by the bus's aerodynamic simulation model. The article has focused on determining the limit speeds of crosswinds that cause instability of the 45-seat bus by numerical method. The study results can be used as a basis for assessing the influence of aerodynamic forces on the dynamic instability of the bus during the movement on the road in complex windy conditions.

This paper studies the butt welded joint of SUS316L stainless steel. The butt joint is not beveled, has a gap and is welded in one pass by MIG welding process. First, the welding parameters of this weld are determined through calculation and test welding for the butt joint of two plates of 3 mm in thickness. Then these welding parameters are used as input data to calculate and determine the temperature field by two methods: the calculation method based on the theory of heat transfer process and the numerical simulation method of welding processes that relies on SYSWELD software on the basis of the finite element method. The calculation results of the two methods were compared with each other and tested by experiment to show the reliability of calculation and simulation results.

The reduction of noises, vibration, and mechanical waves transmitting through water from the shells of submarines is essential to their safe operation and travelling. Vibrations from the rotors of the engines are widely deemed as one of the main sources to which engineers have tried to attenuate with various designs. Squeeze-film dampers can be easily integrated into rotor-bearing structures in order to lower the level of vibrations caused by rotors out of balance. For this advantage, squeeze-film dampers are widely used in air-turbine engines. This paper presents preliminary results of a numerical simulation of a shaft running on a journal bearing integrated with a squeeze-film damper and evaluates the capacity in reducing vibrations concerning the stability of static equilibrium of the shaft journal center. The proposed damper is designed in spherical shape with self-aligning capacity. The results were obtained using finite difference method and numerical integration of the full nonlinear equations of motion.

This study presents a method of shaping the tooth profile of an oval gear pair with the modified cycloid profile of the ellipse. The driving oval gear was shaped by a rack cutter with the profile of an improved cycloid, and the tooth profile of the driven oval gear was shaped by a shaper cutter to ensure that gear pair will mesh accurately with a function of transmission ratio. Mathematical model of the oval gear pair was established according to the theory of the non-circular gear with consideration to the conditions of the design parameters to avoid undercutting and tooth distribution of the oval gear. An improved pair of cycloid oval gears is designed and manufactured according to the results of the theoretical calculation. Furthermore, this gear pair is specifically applied to a Roots-type compressor to demonstrate its applicability in special cases where the traditional cylindrical gear pair cannot be replaced.

When searching for a movie, users often remember only the incidents happened in the movie instead of the actors or directors of that movie. However, these searches are not supported in our current movie information systems as data query is usually based on keywords. This research proposes a solution to search and query movies based on the content of the movie or the incidents happened in the movie. In our research, we have analysed and designed some movie representation models suitable for context-based movie searching. We also propose a quadruple-based representation model to resolve the disadvantages in current semantic web’s triple-based model. Our system is capable of processing user requests precisely and has proven to have advantages over current movie information systems.

This paper introduces a simulation of four-stroke marine diesel engines. The submodel of a particular cylinder was carried out, based on the first law of thermodynamics, programmed by Matlab/Simulink program, which describes the relations among internal characteristics, including cylinder performance parameters, heat release, heat loss, and pressure. The heat release is based on the Wiebe function and the heat loss is based on the Woschni function to build submodels. From the result of the model, the indicated pressure of a single cylinder was taken, the brake power of the engine could be estimated through this pressure. The object of the simulation is a new engine, hence the technical documents and test records provided by the manufacturer are sufficient. The model got the input parameters from this and the key outputs of the model (for example the brake power, peak combustion pressure, specific fuel consumption) were compared with the test records to adjust and make it more accurate. These gaps were not over 5%, therefore, this model can be used to predict key complicated internal cylinder characteristics, for example, the pressure, temperature, and thermal efficiency of engines.

Thermal and mechanical properties of Sn-8Zn-3Bi solder alloy on copper substrate were evaluated via measuring the melting temperature, the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), the tensile and shear strength of the solder joint. The measured properties of the alloy were then compared to the properties of the traditional and widely used eutectic Sn-37Pb solder alloy. The results show that the melting (liquidus) temperature of Sn-8Zn-3Bi was 195 °C, the CTE of Sn-8Zn-3Bi was 22.2´10-6 K-1 in the temperature range of 30-130 °C. At the same testing condition, both tensile and shear strength of Sn-8Zn-3Bi joints were higher than those of Sn-37Pb. The stress-strain curve indicated that the Sn-8Zn-3Bi joints were brittle whilst the Sn-37Pb joints were ductile.
