Perinatal Nutrition, Post-Hatch Holding Time and In ovo feeding 围产期营养、孵化后保温时间与卵内喂养

The most important times during the development of young chicks are the days immediately prior to hatching and the days immediately after hatching, known as the perinatal period. A sufficient supply of nutrients during the perinatal period is a crucial during the late stage of embryonic development and the starvation period of the young chicks. The delayed post-hatch holding time can restrict the development of the gastrointestinal tract, reduce final body weight, impair muscle development, and change immunological capacities. These symptoms are deleterious to the development of young chicks. Therefore, the post-hatch holding time and its influence on the fitness of young chicks are major concerns to the poultry industry. The in ovo feeding is a practical technology for perinatal nutrition to optimize poultry production and for attenuating the stress experienced by fasting young chicks. This study will discuss in ovo feeding and its effect on the development of the chick embryo, the establishment of a healthy microbiota, and the improving immune response. (

Physicochemical Properties of Chicken Thigh Meat Sausage Manufactured with Red Yeast Rice Powder 红曲米粉制备鸡腿肉肠的理化特性研究

The effects of red yeast rice powder on physicochemical properties of chicken thigh meat sausage were investigated. Control sausages were prepared with 1.2% NPS (nitrite pickling salt). Others samples were prepared with 1%, 2%, and 3% red yeast rice powder and 1.2% NaCl. With increasing red yeast rice powder content, the pH of uncooked and cooked samples generally decreased. In addition, lightness, and yellowness decreased with increasing content of red yeast powder (P<0.05), whilst redness increased with increasing content of red yeast powder in sausage samples (P<0.05). In addition, the samples with red rice powder showed more than 3 times higher redness compared to samples with 1.2% NPS, regardless of addition level. No significant difference in cooking yield among the treatments. The hardness of samples increased with increasing red yeast rice powder content, while the cohesiveness of samples containing red yeast rice powder was less than those observed for the control. Consequently, red yeast rice powder can be used to improve redness in sausages without adverse effect on cooking yield. (

Analysis of Marketing Performances according to Raising Environment in Broilers 肉鸡养殖环境对营销绩效的影响分析

This study was conducted to investigate basic data of development for appropriate management system in broiler. Data such as ages at marketing, livability, body weight, etc. were collected from a total of 53 broiler farms located in Chungnam, Chungbuk, Jeollanam, Jeollabuk, Gyeongbuk. 1. Average of ages at marketing were 32 days. Those of windowless house and open-type house were 31.96 and 32.03 days, respectively. The significant difference among four seasons was highly found (P<0.001). The longest ages at marketing were 32.86 days in winter. Average of livability was 96.25%. According to type of chick house, those of windowless house and open-type house were 95.93% and 96.59%, respectively. The livability according to season showed significant difference (P<0.05). The highest livability was 97.39% in autumn. However, the lowest livability was 95.36% in summer. 2. Average body weight at marketing was 1.62 kg. The significant difference was found in marketing weight by season (P<0.05). The heaviest body weight was 1.65 kg in winter, but the lowest weight was 1.60 kg in summer. Average of FCR was 1.62. the significant differences according to the season were highly found (P<0.01). Especially, the best FCR was 1.59 in autumn. Average cycles of marketing was 5.70. The significant differences according to farms size were found (P<0.05), cycles of small farms and big farms were 5.8 and 5.3, respectively. The ages at marketing were highly correlated with marketing weight (r=0.684) and feed conversion (r=0.439). The correlation between feed conversion and livability was highly negative (r=—0.614). According to the above result, livability and body weight at marketing were badly detected in summer. In conclusion, broiler farms should be controlled through properly environmental management system for improvement of performances. (

Molecular Characterization and Expression Analysis of Clathrin-Associated Adaptor Protein 3-δ Subunit 2 (AP3S2) in Chicken 鸡网格蛋白相关接头蛋白3-δ亚基2 (AP3S2)的分子特征及表达分析

A chicken clathrin-associated adaptor protein 3-δ subunit 2 (AP3S2) is a subunit of AP3, which is involved in cargo protein trafficking to target membrane with clathrin-coated vesicles. AP3S2 may play a role in virus entry into host cells through clathrin-dependent endocytosis. AP3S2 is also known to participate in metabolic disease developments of progressions, such as liver fibrosis with hepatitis C virus infection and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Chicken AP3S2 (chAP3S2) gene was originally identified as one of the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in chicken kidney which was fed with different calcium doses. This study aims to characterize the molecular characteristics, gene expression patterns, and transcriptional regulation of chAP3S2 in response to the stimulation of Toll-like receptor 3 (TLR3) to understand the involvement of chAP3S2 in metabolic disease in chicken. As a result, the structure prediction of chAP3S2 gene revealed that the gene is highly conserved among AP3S2 orthologs from other species. Evolutionarily, it was suggested that chAP3S2 is relatively closely related to zebrafish, and fairly far from mammal AP3S2. The transcriptional profile revealed that chAP3S2 gene was highly expressed in chicken lung and spleen tissues, and under the stimulation of poly (I:C), the chAP3S2 expression was down-regulated in DF-1 cells (P<0.05). However, the presence of the transcriptional inhibitors, BAY 11-7085 (Bay) as an inhibitor for nuclear factor κB (NFκB) or Tanshinone IIA (Tan-II) as an inhibitor for activated protein 1 (AP-1), did not affect the expressional level of chAP3S2, suggesting that these transcription factors might be dispensable for TLR3 mediated repression. These results suggest that chAP3S2 gene may play a significant role against viral infection and be involved in TLR3 signaling pathway. Further study about the transcriptional regulation of chAP3S2 in TLR3 pathways and the mechanism of chAP3S2 upon virus entry shall be needed. (

Effect of Dietary Energy Levels and Bedding Materials on Performance, Meat Quality and Foot Pad Score of Male and Female Slow-Growing Korean Meat-Type Chicken (Hanhyop 3) 饲粮能量水平和垫料对慢生长韩肉型鸡公、母生产性能、肉品质和脚垫评分的影响

Two diet energy levels (high or low) and two bedding material (rice husk or saw dust) treatments were designed for either male or female slow-growing Korean meat-type chicken (Hanhyop 3) to make totally eight treatments for 11∼75 d feeding trial. Body weight gain (BWG) were influenced by energy levels, sex of bird and bedding material type. There were interaction effect among those three factors. Feed intakes (FI) by male bird during each and overall periods were higher than those by female. Diet energy levels and bedding material affected the FI only during final 56∼75 d period, of which FI of high energy diet was higher in male whereas that of low energy diet was higher in female. Although feed conversion ratio (FCR) was improved by high energy diet, the better FCR has dissipated during 41∼75 d, when the most of overall BWG were achieved. Apparent total tract retention (ATTR) of nutrients were higher in male than those in female birds with exception on fat ATTR. Fat ATTR was improved when fed low energy diet regardless of the sex of birds. Both energy levels and sex of bird influenced the color of breast. Thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) value of female thigh was higher than that of male. Levels of moisture and P in female thigh were lower although level of fat in female breast was higher than those in male, respectively. This study showed that diet energy levels for Hanhyop 3 chicken, especially during 41∼75 d, should be differently formulated between male and female bird. (

Thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) value of female thigh was higher than that of male. Levels of moisture and P in female thigh were lower although level of fat in female breast was higher than those in male, respectively. This study showed that diet energy levels for Hanhyop 3 chicken, especially during 41∼75 d, should be differently formulated between male and female bird. Motility of Rooster Spermatozoa under Different Thawing Conditions 不同解冻条件下公鸡精子活力的研究

In this study, to increase the survival rate of frozen/thaw rooster semen, standard protocols of semen thawing procedures were tested by computer-assisted sperm assay (CASA). We tested 4 different thawing protocols for frozen semen, 5°C for 2 min, 35°C for 30 s, 54°C for 13 s, and 70°C for 7 s. The pooled semen from 5 to 8 Ogye rooster line was diluted in the HS-1 diluent and frozen in 8% methylacetamide (MA) in liquid nitrogen vapors. To determine standard thawing method, straws were plunged into different temperatures and times. The resulting motilities were recorded by the CASA system. The results of this study showed that the best viability of the spermatozoa was shown by exposure at 5°C for 2 min. Moreover, the longevity test of thawed sperm at 5°C for 2 min also supported the higher viability under low temperature preservation of 17°C for 1 hr. Further research is needed to increase the motility of thawed rooster semen for field application. In addition, the in vivo tests for different rooster lines are also needed for the establishment of avian genetic resource bank. (

Single Nucleotide Polymorphism of TBC1D1 Gene Association with Growth Traits and Serum Clinical-Chemical Traits in Chicken 鸡TBC1D1基因与生长性状及血清临床化学性状相关的单核苷酸多态性研究

TBC1D1 gene has known functional effects on body energy homeostasis and glucose uptake pathway in skeletal muscle tissue. This biological function is reported to have significant effects on traits of growth and meat quality in chicken. In this study, we focused on two single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) (g.70179137A>G and g.70175861T>C) identified through SNP annotation information of Korean native chicken and previous literature for TBC1D1 in chicken. Association of SNPs in TBC1D1 with growth and serum clinical-chemical traits were evaluated. A total of 584 male and female birds from five Korean native chicken lines were used in the study. The SNP1 (g.70179137A>G) is located in intron 11 and SNP2 (g.70175861T>C) is a non-synonymous missense mutation in exon 10, responsible for the amino acid change from Methionine to Valine. The A allele of SNP1 and T allele of SNP2 had the highest allele frequencies. Both SNPs indicated moderate polymorphism information content values (0.25

Association results shown that SNP1 was significantly associated with BW00, BW20, GR14-16 and carcass weight (P<0.05). The AA genotype had higher value for all these traits except BW00. Whereas, genotype GG have lower values for BW20, GR14-16, GR18-20 and carcass weight. The sGOT level was significant with SNP1 but not with the SNP2. The GG genotype had the highest sGOT value and AG reported the lowest. BW20 was significantly associated with SNP2 (P<0.05). The body weight and carcass weight values of CC and TC genotypes were higher than those of TT genotype. A Study on the Application of ISO Standard Sampling in Grading of Chicken Meats ISO标准抽样在鸡肉分级中的应用研究

This study was aimed to evaluate the possibility of application to the KS A ISO 2859-1 Easy test, an international standards sampling inspection, to replace a sampling method of the current grading standard of chicken meats for the first time. As a result of screening capability to check for defective products, the current sampling was 0.61 and the KS A ISO 2859-1 Normal test was 0.70, suggesting that the latter inspection method was more accurate. If the KS A ISO 2859-1 conversion principle is applied, 40,530 won per day is saved for a 50-lot inspection. The current sampling and the KS A ISO 2859-1 Easy test did not exceed the reject limit for the number of defective products to satisfy the grade 1 on chicken carcass size numbers 12, 9 and 8. Freshness was not significantly different between the current sampling and the KS A ISO 2859-1 Easy test. It is expected that using the KS A ISO 2859-1 Easy test with a smaller sample volume will have the same level of quality evaluation as the current sampling method while reducing costs. (

Association of SNPs in the HNF4α Gene with Growth Performance of Korean Native Chickens HNF4α基因snp与韩国地方鸡生长性能的关系

The hepatocyte nuclear factor 4 alpha (HNF4α) gene is related to lipid transport, including abdominal fat and growth, in chickens. Interestingly, the A543G SNP within the HNF4α gene has previously been reported to be associated with body weight in both broilers and Korean native chickens (KNCs). However, its exact position within the HNF4 is not yet reported. This study aimed to identify the position of the A543G SNP and to identify additional SNPs that can be used as genetic markers in KNCs. A total of 128 KNCs were used for the sequencing and analysis of these genetic associations. As a result, A543G SNP was located in intron 4 of the HNF4α gene; it is reported as rs731246957 in the NCBI database. Fourteen SNPs were detected in the sequenced portion of the HNF4α gene; three of these, rs731246957, rs736159604 and new SNP, intron 6 (249), were significantly related with growth in the chickens. In this study, the TT genotype of rs731246957, previously reported as A543G SNP, the GG genotype of rs736159604 and GT of new SNP have are highly associated with body weight from birth to 40 weeks of age in KNCs (P<0.01). These results suggest that rs736159604, rs731246957 and intron 6 (249) SNPs within the HNF4α gene could function as growth-related markers in the selective breeding of KNCs. (
