We record a case of an 18 year old female patient with a history of asymptomatic, keratotic, waxy papules localized over the thenar and hypothenar eminence of palms and the internal aspect of the soles of feet. Histologically they were characterized by hyperkeratosis, acanthosis, elastorrexis and enlarged collagen fibers, typical of the picture known as Costa's acrokeratoelastoidosis. We establish a differential diagnosis with other clinically similar keratotic conditions.

The maximization test of Magnusson Kligman was performed in 25 Hartley guinea pigs with minoxidil. The results concluded that minoxidil has a very low capacity of sensitization. This results confirmed in the animal test, the low incidence of contact dermatitis, among the customers using minoxidil topical solutions.

We show the case of a patient suffering from a chronic renal failure in hemodialysis. He had a ischemic necrosis that was quickly progressive in his fingers and toes. It was necessary to amputate them. Diffuse vascular calcifications were recorded so radiologically than pathologically. PTH and phosphocalcic product were raised. Parathyroidectomy was practised with a quick initial improvement but immediately new distal ischemic lesions and keratotic papules with histologic perforation, that became necrosed, appeared in his buttocks and inferior extremities. The coexistence of acquired perforating disease and calciphylaxis in uremic patients has not been reported until now.

The pseudoatrophic pityriasis versicolor is an atypical form of this disease with cutaneous atrophy provoked by the prolonged application of topical corticosteroids. The term "pseudoatrophic" is indicative of its reversible character.

By using a series of antibodies, we studied the immunohistological hallmarks of eccrine and apocrine sweat glands. Antibodies raised against cytokeratins 6 and 18 decorated the eccrine glands except the acrosyringium. The anti-CEA Ab revealed a uniform and exclusive staining of the eccrine glands. The anti-cytokeratins 8, 18 and 19 Ab labelled the apocrine glands and the secretory part of the eccrine glands. The acrosyringia were revealed by anti-EMA Ab. The immunostaining with anti S-100 protein was positive for the secretory part of the eccrine glands.

A male patient of 52 years old is studied with an scabiei by Sarcoptes scabiei v. hominis. After a month the patient developed a clinic and histopathologic generalized granuloma annulare. With the specific local treatment of his scabiei, the disease was cured in 7 days. After this treatment, the generalized granuloma annulare disappeared within 2 months. Due to the sequence of both diseases and the way in which they disappeared after local therapy, we suggest that the antigens of the scabies are the ones responsible for the granulomatous lesions. We concluded this since once the antigens have disappeared, the immunologic mechanisms depending on the interactions of lymphocyte T-macrophage which form the granuloma are interrupted. Since the patient is homosexual, we studied the HIV antibodies which were negatives in several opportunities. Nevertheless, an immune disbalance which could be the coadjuvant factor was founded. With this case we show that specific exogens may cause a generalized granuloma annulare.

The authors present the results of VDRL reactions (qualitative and quantitative) and microhaemagglutination assays (MIPHA) on 305 serum samples. The samples selected among the sera asked for syphilis serology at a clinical laboratory, were those which the results on VDRL reactions were observed to be reactive at low titles, not reactive or inconclusive. From these 305 samples, 87 (28.5 por 100) were also processed by the FTA-Abs test. The reactivity concordance between the tests was compared and the efficiency of the MIPHA as confirmatory diagnostic test was discussed. The conclusions prompt to the usefulness of the MIPHA on syphilis serodiagnosis routine as a function of its sensitivity, specificity, low costs and technical simplicity.

The effector cells of the immune response are involved in the clinical course of bacterial, viral and mycotic infections. Previous publications have reported that some mycotic infections, including sporotrichosis, can produce a negative modulation of the immune response unfavorable for the host. In this work T and B lymphocytes capable to form direct and indirect rosettes respectively with sheep erythrocytes in gerbils with experimental sporotrichosis, were measured. It was found a significant rise in the number to T and B lymphocytes which means normal immunological reactivity. These results are not in accordance with the idea that sporotrichosis can depress the immune response of the host.

A male patient with an ulcerative lesion on the edge of his tongue is present. The histopathologic findings were typical for "Eosinophilic Ulcer of the Tongue". This was contiguous with a carious molar, the remotion of which was followed by total remission of the ulcer. Its possible aetiology and pathogenesis are discussed. Based on the injurious effects of eosinophils mentioned in anothers affections the authors postulate that eosinophils may have an important rol in production or maintainance of this ulcer.
