Manufacturers are speeding Industry 4.0 adoption as they seek to leverage the improved resiliency, productivity, and agility delivered by digital technologies over the last three years. Lower acquisition costs, ease-of-use, clearer return on investment, a young digital-native workforce eager to explore new solutions, agnostic operating software, and managers less adverse to the risk of bringing on new solutions will continue to drive adoption.

Abstract While carbon footprint and cost reductions provide plenty of incentive for manufacturers to use recycled materials, another factor has come on the scene in recent years—a concept known as Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). EPR incorporates all the environmental costs in the lifecycle of consumer products and packaging, and instead shifts the burden of waste management from consumers and government to manufacturers.
