A possible question that teams who design and evaluate software can do is: "How to choose techniques HumanComputer Interaction (HCI) for Software Development Processes (SDP)?". We propose the provision of HCI techniques in the structure of a model for improve process that focus on process quality requirements development, design and product construction and validation and verification. The framework proposes the availability of techniques depending on the result desired by the professional involved and it is not specific to any SDP. With this article, we hope to contribute to the literature of integration between the areas of Software Engineering (SE) and HCI.

The specification of an Enterprise Architecture (EA) is a complex process to adapt a generic architecture or framework to a specific organization. For this, a conceptual model, a specification language and tools supporting the process, must be associated to the EA. In particular, the quality assurance of the process support tools is important to guarantee that the customized EA respects required global quality goals. The main goal of this work is to specify a quality model with quality characteristics and sub-characteristics, according to the ISO/IEC 25010 standard that must be present in EA process support tools. The feature analysis method, according to the DESMET methodology is used, with a documental-based review and direct observation, as a basis to specify a quality model for this type of tools. Enterprise architects, to justify the selection of convenient tools for the EA specification process, can use these results.

This paper aims to show a multi-agent geosimulation for a water distribution system that has been designed and developed according to the conceptual and methodological guidelines that dictates a theoretical reference model presented in [1]. The domain of geosimulación system is in the field of Disaster Management and Risk Reduction, The system is oriented to public service and simulates the occurrence of changes in the dynamics of rain on a particular geography that could mean periods of drought. The construction of the system is a planned process of reuse of complete and entire architectures. For this purpose have been used for the construction of the experimental framework, functional simulation system as EpaNet and GALATEA, GIS such as gvSIG, and system integration architectures for distributed simulation such as HLA.

Due to high demands of accuracy and efficiency while dealing with lots of complex and ambiguous gestures, the sign language recognition is still a hard problem to vision-based systems. From depth images acquired by a recent RGB-D sensor, this paper proposes a novel methodology for the recognition of the American Sign Language hand alphabet, which is underlain by a detailed analysis of the Iterative Closest Point (ICP) algorithm, applied here as a tridimensional shape matching procedure. The evaluation of the inputs and outputs of the ICP technique combined with the interpretation of the conducted experiments contribute significantly for advancing the state of the art, by identifying in which conditions the alignment can be used in compliance with the requirements of the pattern recognition.

YATIRI is the Tourist Information Platform of region Puno for mobile devices, which provides timely and updated information about the tourist attractions of the region Puno, for local and foreign tourists who visit this tourism destiny. This information is shown on mobile devices (mobile phone, smartphone, Tablets, PDAs, etc.), instead of the classical manuals and printed paper tourism guides (Handbooks). The developed platform takes advantage of the latest technological features in mobile devices, offering an application rich in content, which can run on the most used platforms like: Android, iOS, BlackBerry, Windows Phone and Java Micro Edition (JME). The application doesn't need an internet connection. Once it's installed on your cellphone or mobile device the user can access, anywhere, to the information from the tourist attractions of the region Puno.

The hemoflagellate protozoan parasite Trypanosoma cruzi is the causative agent of the Chagas disease. The two drugs used clinically have a high level of toxicity and are active only during the acute phase of the disease, making it urgent the development of new safe and effective treatment. The first step in the screening of new compounds is to identify their effectiveness by manual microscopic counting of the intracellular parasite form (amastigotes), which is a slow and tedious methodology. This paper presents an approach for the automatic counting of intracellular parasites using watershed transform with internal and external markers as segmentation technique, and connected components labeling for subsequent counting. The contrast against the classic counting, conducted by experts in the field, validated the technique, showing that the proposal is very efficient and with a low error rate.

In this work, we introduce a method to do object extraction in RGBD images. Our method consists in a depth-based approach which provides an insight into connectedness, proximity and planarity of the scene. We combine the depth and the color in a GraphCut framework to achieve robustness. Specifically, we propose a depth-based seeding which reduces the uncertainty and limitations of the traditional color based seeding. The results of our depth-based seeding were satisfactory and allowed good segmentation results at indoor environments. An extension of our method to do video segmentation using contour graphs is also discussed.

Cloud computing has the potential to revolutionize the way systems are developed and marketed. The cloud has become an important research subject in software engineering nowadays. Among the many research gaps related to this new computing model is the lack of portability between cloud platforms, which generates the Data Lock-In. The Data Lock-In is the difficulty in migrating data and applications from a cloud platform to another. This work presents a model-driven approach for promoting cloud portability, in the context of PaaS (Platform as a Service). The initial results indicate that the use of MDE in cloud computing can facilitate cloud adoption, as well as the migration between the different platforms offered in the market.

The chronicles paradigm has been used to determine fault in dynamic systems, allow modeling the temporal relationships between observable events to describe the patterns of behavior of the system. The chronicle recognition mechanisms used until now are semi-centralized approaches, which consist of a central component that is responsible for making the final inference about the fault diagnosis of the system, based on the information collected from local diagnosers. This model has difficulty when is implemented for monitoring very large systems. This paper proposes a fault diagnosis system based on distributed chronicles. For that, we need to extend both, the definition of the chronicles as its recognition mechanism, so that they are fully distributed. This paper presents these extensions, and then describes the fault diagnosis system based on distributed chronicles proposed, and an example of its use in SOA applications.
