In this work we detail the design of the Interpretative Ontology used by the Dynamic Semantic Ontological Framework (MODS) proposed in [1]. We also present its use for the characterization of continuous production processes as proposed in [2], specifically for the supervision and diagnosis domain. Thus, with this ontology we can query in natural language on the Semantic Web using MODS, in the domain of supervision and diagnosis.

This paper presents a model for the specification of hierarchical control of focus and input events in hypermedia applications that may contain atomic objects and nested compound objects. A proposal to solve the problems of declarative languages for both Web domain and Digital TV domain is described. The model proposed by us is part of the Digital TV profiles of NCL language specification. The model, however, may be extended to be used in other declarative languages. The model was incorporated into the Ginga reference implementation. NCL and Ginga are part of ITU-T Recommendation for IPTV services and ISDB-T standards (International Standard for Digital Broadcasting - Terrestrial).

This paper focuses on the integration of two software development frameworks: Blue WATCH y SCRUM. SCRUM is a well known agile framework for software development; meanwhile, Blue WATCH is a balanced (agile + disciplined) methodological framework for enterprise application development. The first one is combined with concepts derived from the second one. The emphasis of the paper is on the process of integration and its result: the integrated framework. The combined framework that emerges from the integration process provides a better description, not only of the project management processes, but also of the technical and support processes which are proper of the software development endeavor. The proposed framework is expected to provide a better guidance to software development teams, since it mixes managerial and technical processes into a unique framework.

This paper considers the Flowshop Sequence Dependent Group Scheduling (FSDGS) problem In this problem, the n jobs to be processed on m machines are grouped in families (or groups) in a way that a machine setup time is needed between two consecutive jobs of different groups. The purpose of this problem is to determine the sequence of the groups and the sequence of the jobs within each group in order to minimize the total flow time. The FSDGS problem is classified as NP-hard, thus, efficient heuristics are needed to obtain near-optimal solutions in reasonable computational time. In this work, we propose a hybrid heuristic based on Variable Neighborhood Descent (VND) and Iterated Local Search (ILS) metaheuristic. Our heuristic operates with three neighborhood structures and new starting solutions are obtained by applying a perturbation procedure on the current best solution. The computational results show that our heuristic outperforms, in terms of solution quality, an algorithm proposed in the literature. The results are confirmed by a statistical analysis.

This paper describes the use of Knowledge Engineering techniques (KE) for modeling concepts related to the topic "Structured Data Types" (SDT). The main motivation is to help in the process of recognition of these structures, a non-trivial process, which depends on attributes listed in the statement of the problem or exercise for a wide variety of static and dynamic SDT. CommonKADS methodology was used to develop the phases of Review of sources and previous experiences, Modeling Context, and Knowledge Modeling to create a Knowledge Base (KB). As representation mechanisms used a semantic network and specification in CML. The main results of the work are are reflected in the model of knowledge gained and its integration into an educational tool call RED +iC, which was used by several groups of students who reported benefits in the process of recognition of Structured Data Types.

This paper presents a comparison of three developmental experiences of fuzzy DBMS (Database Management Systems). These developments have expanded the functionality of some existing relational DBMS (PostgreSQL, Oracle, Firebird, SQL Server, MySQL and DB2) to handle queries with vague terms. The three approaches presented are based on three different methods of integration known as weak, medium and strong coupling strategies. These developments are based on evaluation mechanisms that give good behavior in terms of time spent for query processing. In addition, this paper also presents two user experiences of these fuzzy DBMS, which show a high acceptance by users. To do so, are some applications developed using our fuzzy DBMS. These experiences show that fuzzy DBMS are appropriate and necessary in real-world applications.

Survivability against link failures in WDM optical networks with dynamic traffic, i.e. requirements that change in time, has become very important because it is a more realistic approach than static traffic. This work evaluates the efficiency of the protection method based on p-cycles or pre-configured protection cycles, with a multi-objective approach, optimizing simultaneously network resources as well as the amount of needed reconfigurations in the nodes when working capacity changes. With this purpose we have developed a new multi-objective genetic algorithm which calculates both objectives. We also show experimental results, analyzing the effects of the small-batch size of requirements in each network reconfiguration, and the stability of p-cycles, i.e. the variation of these parameters in each time period.

MeRinde (Metodología de la Red Nacional de Integración y Desarrollo de Software Libre) developed by CNTI (Centro Nacional de Tecnologías de Información), proposes an open standard for software development to support the implementation of Venezuelan State's Decree 3390 on the use of Free Software for governmental projects. With respect to the requirements discipline, the MeRinde process model only uses UML diagrams, and does not offer any guidelines for the Requirements Engineering (capture, analysis, specification, and validation) overall process. This paper proposes an adaptation of the MeRinde requirements discipline, incorporating the use of requirements engineering techniques to complement the final products. Moreover, available free software tools that support the selected techniques are analyzed and discussed using the Systematic Review methodology. The MeRinde adapted process model is described using SPEM 2.0 notation.
