Research on Entropy-based Collaborative Filtering Algorithm 基于熵的协同过滤算法研究

Based on the brief introduction to the user-based and item-based collaborative filtering algorithms, the problems related to the two algorithms are analyzed, and a new entropy-based recommendation algorithm is proposed. Aimed at the drawbacks of traditional similarity measurement methods, we put forward an improved similarity measurement method. The entropy-based collaborative filtering algorithm contributes to solving the cold-start problem and discovering users' hidden interests. Using the practical data obtained from Movielens Website and MAE metrics for accuracy measure, three different collaborative filtering recommendation algorithms are compared through experiments. The results show that the entropy-based algorithm provides better recommendation quality than user-based algorithm and achieves recommendation accuracy comparable to the item-based algorithm. The experimental solution, the advantages of the entropy-based algorithm and future work are discussed in detail.

Dynamic Dataflow Driven Service Composition Mechanism for Astronomy Data Processing 动态数据流驱动的天文数据处理服务组合机制

Although some relatively mature products and systems about Dynamic service composition are proposed, their manipulations are mostly not trivial and intuitive for the common users. Therefore, this paper proposes a dataflow driven dynamic service composition architecture aiming at astronomy applications, to simplify the requirements for users to compose a service. The architecture utilizes Dataflow Driven conception to discover an Original Topology Graph, which includes the final composite service with the shortest length and good parallel structure, and uses a Converse Composition algorithm to ascertain the final result quickly. This architecture is applied in the PMGrid prototype for astronomy data processing, and the experiment results show the architecture satisfies the parallelism and asynchrony in distributed system, avoids manual errors, increases the service configuring efficiency, provides the composite service with better structure to increase the executing parallelism, and finally improve the scientific discovery.

Adaptive User Interface Generation for Web Services Web服务的自适应用户界面生成

Web service has become a popular approach for software system integration. A Web service may be invoked by other Web services or users and the way for interacting with users or other services should be different. When interacting with a user, it is necessary to provide a graphical user interface (GUI) to obtain the input information. Users may access the Web Service from different devices. To manually develop various user interfaces for Web services adds additional burdens to the service designers. In this paper, an adaptive user interface generation framework is presented. The framework takes the WSDL interface specification together with some additional but optional interface design related information for adaptive GUI generation.

Secure Search of Private Documents in an Enterprise Content Management System 企业内容管理系统中私有文档的安全检索

An enterprise content management system such as an electronic contract system manages a large number of secure documents for many organizations. The search of these private documents for different organizational users with role- based access control is a challenging task. In this paper, we present a novel content-based XML-annotated secure-index search mechanism that provides an effective search and retrieval of private documents with document-level security. The search mechanism includes a document analysis framework for text analysis and annotation, a search indexer to build and incorporate document access control information directly into a search index, an XML-based search engine, and a compound query generation technique to join user role and organization information into search query. Our experiments on a pilot electronic contract system demonstrate that, by incorporating document access information directly into the search index and combining user information in the search query, search and retrieval of private contract documents can be achieved very effectively and securely with high performance.

RFID Assisted Object Tracking for Automating Manufacturing Assembly Lines 自动化制造装配线的RFID辅助目标跟踪

RFID technology provides a wireless means to detect and identify objects. In this paper, an RFID assisted object tracking system is developed to track the object movement and further predict object positions in the assembly lines. To overcome the problems of the object tracking accuracy with certain amount of readers with omni directional aerial, a convex model for range-free cooperative object tracking is proposed in the manufacturing assembly lines. Further to enhance the assembly line efficiency, a particle filter model is developed to further process the object tracking results to improve the tracking accuracy. The proposed tracking system can also forecast the movement state of objects in the assembly lines.

Service Obligations Management in IT Outsourcing IT外包中的服务义务管理

In outsourcing, service obligations broadly refer to the duties and responsibilities of the service provider related to the provision of services. It is critical that the provider clearly understands and properly implements its complete service obligations to the client. The BlueMoon project in IBM develops a novel approach to service obligations management in the context of IT outsourcing. BlueMoon conceptualizes different kinds of service obligations through a formal obligations model. It provides an overarching obligations configurator tool for gathering and validating obligation requirements throughout the outsourcing lifecycle. It further facilitates the implementation of service obligations by automatically binding them to the IT architecture planning and provisioning process and to their uses in various service documents. Work is under way to monitor service delivery operations and verify obligations compliance. Addressing a key challenge in IT outsourcing, bluemoon promises to significantly improve the client's satisfaction, the health of the outsourcing account, and the provider's bottom line.

The Proposal of Conditions of Personal Engagement in Knowledge Harvesting 知识收获中个人参与条件的提出

Knowledge harvesting is a knowledge management approach focusing on the elicitation and explication of the tacit knowledge residing in an expert. The objectives of knowledge harvesting are to not only succeed in eliciting experts' knowledge but also develop effective training and learning designs as well as their evaluation. However, the successful implementation of such program remains a key challenge. Management needs to develop an understanding of the factors that have significant associations to a successful implementation of such program. Prior research has linked the factors of employees' engagement to their performance level. The purpose of this study is to identify and examine the factors that have significant impacts on the successfulness of knowledge harvesting. This study investigates the relationship between these factors and personal engagement of experts and novices in knowledge harvesting process.

The research questions that will be answered in this paper are the following: Firstly, whether smart card technology (in the banking sector) can be used, not only for combating fraud, but also in order to achieve a competitive advantage without suffering from traditional IT system drawbacks. Secondly, what are the business and technical issues that will affect such a migration? The methodology involved requires a thorough review of the relevant literature on IT and competitive advantage. Furthermore, it also involves a number of interviews in the UK financial industry (i.e. banks and credit card companies), and the smart card technology providers.

Analyzing Service Usage Patterns: Methodology and Simulation 分析服务使用模式:方法和模拟

This paper proposes that service mining technology will power the construction of new business services via both intra- and inter- enterprise service assembly within the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) framework. We investigate the methodologies of service mining at the component level of service usage. We also demonstrate how mining of service usage patterns is intended to be used to improve different aspects of service composition. Simulation experiments conducted for mining at the component level are analyzed. The processing details within a general service mining deployment are demonstrated.

Partition-based Profit Optimisation for Multi-class Requests in Clusters of Servers 服务器集群中基于分区的多类请求利润优化

This paper investigates profit optimisation by the partitioning of server pools. Different types of web requests are considered in this paper: best-effort requests and multi-class QoS-demanding requests. Each request is associated with a certain amount of revenue. The system earns associated revenue when completing a best effort request, while the revenue earned for serving a QoS-demanding request depends on the degree of satisfaction. The complete server pool is divided into two clusters of servers, each dedicated to serving one type of request. The total profits accrued when serving these requests are mathematically modelled in this paper. The optimisation equations for the pool partitioning have also been constructed so that the maximum profit can be achieved. An optimal server switching policy is also developed. The server switching policy is optimal in the sense that the maximum profit can be maintained by switching servers from one partition to the other. Costs involved in server switching are factored into the switching model. Supportive experimentation based on simulation have been conducted and the results verify the effectiveness of the pool partitioning policy and the server switching policy developed in this paper.
