Need of alternate electrical energy resource and compatibility with grid connection has revived the interest in PV system. To study the interaction with converters an accurate modeling approach is required which should be able to define precisely the electrical behavior with changes in the surrounding temperature and insolation level. This paper proposes a PSPICE based model utilizing two diode based cell contributing higher accuracy at low irradiance level and allowing better analysis of PV system performance. Also to analyze partial shading effect a model is put forward with the utilization of two diode based PV cell. Temperature and insolation levels are kept as variables to plot the VI and PV characteristics. In order to study the interfacing with MPPT algorithms and converters PV array and module simulation are performed. PSPISE simulator is a platform to deal with non-linear devices such as diodes and transistors availed with a number of parameter to achieve numerical convergence.

In many industries various manufacturing processes require large quantities of energy in thermal form, much of which is exhausted to the atmosphere through chimney in the form of hot flue gasses. The energy losses as waste heat provides largest opportunity for recovering this heat energy which leads to the industrial energy consumption and to contribute in the energy harvesting activity.Energy harvesting study is done on industrial chimney having considerable amount of low grade heat energy. Thermoelectric power generators (TEG) converts heat energy directly to electricity through thermoelectric effect. To demonstrate the thermoelectric effect in industrial waste heat energy recovery application a model based on thermoelectric power generation system was thought and a related prototype was developed. The developed model have energy generation system attached on sides of the chimney in order to get maximum working surface area and not to affect function of chimney. It was considered that the energy thrown from the chimney as a lost energy would be recovered by a thermoelectric power generation system in term of electrical energy in some quantity. The experimental data based on the prototype is obtained related to waste heat energy recovery process. The economical aspect and period of cost recovery is also discussed in this work.

The rise in amount of information over internet in last few years has caused the growing risk of information flooding which in turn has created the problem of accessing relevant data to the users. Also with the hike in number of websites and web pages, webmasters find it challenging to formulate the content in accordance with the user's need. The information demand of the online users can be figured out by evaluating user's web navigation behavior. Web Usage Mining (WUM) is used to extract knowledge from Web user's access logs by employing Data Mining Techniques. One of the applications of WUM is Recommendation system which is personalized information filtering technique used to either determine whether a certain user will approve a given item or to identify a list of items which can be of significant importance to the user. In this paper an architecture that integrates product information with user's access log data and then generates a set of recommendations for that particular user is presented. The implementation has recorded encouraging results in terms of precision, recall and F1 metrics.

Radio Frequency Identification, RFID, as we know it, is a wireless technology used for identifying as well as tracking a tag attached to an object. In this paper, a Microstrip Antenna with a high Gain along with a good Return Loss (S11) and Impedance Bandwidth that will work for 5.8 GHz ISM band RFID applications, is proposed. The Antenna has been designed and simulated using Fire Resistant FR4 Epoxy substrate. The Patch dimensions are 96 × 156.5 × 1.5 mm3 and has a Microstrip Line feed. The impedance bandwidth achieved by the final design is about 380 MHz in the 5.8 GHz ISM band and has an S11 of -31.42 dB. The Gain achieved by the final design of the antenna is 6.5 dB. As compared to the UHF band designs, the proposed design provides a better range coverage as well as better speed since the Gain is high. The designed antenna is mainly a broadside antenna and is designed with the help of Ansoft High Frequency Simulation Software (HFSS).

Vocal tract is one of most important system in speech production and it begins at the glottis and ends at the lips. Vocal tract shape (VTS) is defined as varying cross sectional area from glottis-to-lips. Based on literature review it is noted that most of the research work carried out on vocal tract shape estimation (VTSE) is based on Wakita's algorithm which is based on autocorrelation of speech. The objective of this research work is to investigate VTSE based on formant frequencies, autocorrelation, covariance and lattice methods. For validation of results, data available for vocal tract shape for vowels from Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technique was used. Vowels /a/, /i/, /u/, /o/, vowel-semivowel-vowel utterances /aya/, /awa/ and some VCV syllables /apa/, /uba/ were analyzed for three female and three male speakers. From formant frequency, autocorrelation, covariance and lattice methods satisfactory results were obtained for vowels and semivowels. However, VTS for vowels based on formant frequency technique when compared with the MRI shapes were more realistic. From the investigation for effect of variation in analysis frame length on VTSE, it was observed that, lattice method required minimum analysis frame length compared to autocorrelation, and covariance methods, and estimated areas were more consistent across the analysis frames compared to other methods.

Classification of Videos based on their content is becoming more and more essential everyday because of the vast amount of video data becoming available. Various Feature Extraction and data mining techniques can be used to perform Video Classification. This paper uses edge detection techniques such as Object Extraction and Canny Edge Detection (using Sobel, Prewitt and Robert's operator) to extract features from the key frames. After extraction, the features are pre-processed using Discretization, PKIDiscretization, Fuzzification, Binarization, Normalization techniques and analysed using Correlation Feature Selection technique before being used by Naive Bayesian Classifier for training and testing purpose. The experimental results show a high accuracy of classification for a set of traffic surveillance videos can be achieved with the proposed combination.

Power transfer through long distance transmission lines faces voltage stability and power flow issues in an interconnected system. These issues can be minimized by placing suitable compensators at appropriate locations. Conventional load flow analysis that are carried out to find line flows and voltage in the system, does not consider compensators. This paper deals with the modification of load flow analysis by incorporating a single mid-point shunt compensator in an interconnected system. As the power flow equations are non-linear, Lagrangian optimization technique is used to obtain optimal shunt compensation to improve voltage profile and power system loadability under steady state condition. A program is developed in MATLAB platform to modify the conventional load flow analysis to optimize power system loadability as well as maintaining the voltage within limits. The advantage of the program is that it gives the best location and optimal compensation to satisfy required constraints. The validity of the program is tested on a five bus system and results obtained are presented in this paper.

MOSFET concepts have been known since many years but its utilization became prominent in 1960s. Later, device scaling became evitable because in the year 1965 Intel's co-founder Gordon Moore said that the transistor number would double every couple of years. But soon researchers realized that there is a limit to scaling silicon MOSFETs. In 1991, the discovery of carbon nanotubes opened up a new area of nanotechnology and an excellent alternative for Silicon MOSFETs. IEEE 1076.1 VHDL-analog and mixed-signal(VHDL-AMS) is a derivative of the VHDL language and is one of the widely used language to simulate mixed signal circuits. In this experiment we simulate and analyze a Southampton university modeled single walled carbon nanotube field-effect transistor (SW-CNTFET). Input characteristics, output characteristics, PVT variations of Ion/Ioff ratio, transconductance, subthreshold swing and threshold voltage of the device are studied.
