A microgrid brings together a number of distributed energy resources, energy users and energy storing devices to supply reliable power to the end-users. It can better associate to connect to rural areas where it is not feasible and economic for a transmission system to supply power. The microgrids can be connected to form a microgrid cluster for better reliability of power when the microgrid units increase in number. The frequency of the system gets affected when the share of distributed resources increases and a plug-in electric vehicles (PEV) can be used to regulate the frequency as it can work as a generator or load. The ancillary service of a PEV in the frequency stabilization has a better response characteristics as the charging and discharging of a PEV is not a mechanical process. The accommodation of a PEV in load frequency control is possible because of the application of it in the vehicle to grid mode. The control signals are carried through communication network provided for the purpose. In a load frequency control loop with PEV, this causes time delay and hence data missing may happen. The load frequency control is greatly affected by the presence of time delay.

Humans have five senses that help them to interact with the environment. Even losing one makes this interaction difficult. There are more than 63 million visually impaired people in India. Visually impaired people can range from being partially impaired to completely blind. These individuals face numerous difficulties in performing daily life tasks. Fortunately, assistive technologies have developed in the last few decades. This technology aims to enable people to live a healthy and independent life with equal opportunities in society. This paper describes the visual assistive system that ensures people live their lives to the fullest. This system helps people interact with the immediate environment in which they are living while taking care of them and keeping them safe from the dangerous elements in the surrounding. The proposed system uses a Raspberry Pi camera and Raspberry Pi 4 embedded system to interact with the environment and the user. We propose to aid the visually impaired community by employing a system that allows us to identify different objects and their inter-spacing distance between the object and the individual whilst simultaneously providing audio feedback. This is achieved by capturing the real-time frames and processing these images. The proposed system boasts an accuracy of 93.7%, thus outperforming similar products while being cheaper and using fewer resources simultaneously. Unlike other devices in the market. This result was achieved with no additional sensors helping reduce the cost of the proposed system significantly and making it affordable for the general public. It also reduces the point of failure as there is no additional hardware sensors other than a camera being used.

Advancements in semiconductor device technology is reducing the size of Integrated Circuits. The operating voltages also are reducing in a similar fashion. Here comes the need for using devices operating at different voltages. The communication between devices working at different voltage levels may go erroneous when direct interface is attempted between them. This happens due to the noise margin issues. A voltage level shifter is a device, which is used to interface between two devices operating at different voltages so that the communication between them is proper. A bidirectional voltage level shifter with configurable voltage range is designed. The proposed voltage level shifter is having easily scalable number of channels configured as blocks which can be controlled independently. Each block consisting of a number of channels for which the direction of voltage level shifting is switchable and the voltages configurable within a wide range. SPICE simulations carried out shows the circuit properly operating in 1.2V to 1.8V range.

A truck trailer system consist of a tractor connected to the trailer by means of connecting point called hitch point. The trajectory tracking control of a tractor trailer robot with on axle hitching in both forward and backward motion is addressed in this paper. The kinematic model of the truck trailer is developed and a nonlinear controller is designed which ensures that the center point of the trailer axle follows a predefined trajectory, described by a geometric path and a velocity profile. A closed loop stabilization control by using the feedback of the states is done. A controller based on feedback linearization is used to drive the truck trailer robot through the generated trajectory to move the robot from the initial pose to the final pose. The effectiveness of the proposed controller is validated using MATLAB simulations. The simulation results of the work show that the tractor trailer robot can be effectively controlled to track the curved and linear paths by using the control law.

Hypertension is the significant cause of death and many disabilities. Blood pressure is an index for knowing the cardiovascular status. More accurate continuous blood pressure can be obtained by arterial cannulation technique. Drawback with this method is that it causes potential risk to patient due to its invasive nature. Currently existing cuff based and oscillometric methods provide only short time data and it cannot be used for continuous monitoring. The purpose of this study is to estimate the continuous blood pressure using the pressure pulse wave morphology. Radial artery pressure pulse wave is used for the estimation. Initial blood pressure obtained with the help of regression model is added with the pressure difference between the systolic and diastolic feature points to evaluate the continuous blood pressure. About eleven informative features were extracted from pressure pulse wave and two regression models were constructed for comparing the performance. From mean absolute error calculated for the two models, multivariable linear regression model showed better accuracy than deep learning regression model. Initial blood pressure measured by multi-variable linear regression model is added with pressure difference to estimation continuous systolic and diastolic blood pressure. The results showed the reliability of pressure pulse wave morphology for non invasive blood pressure estimation.

Driving situations include a lot of safety considerations. One of the major factors in road accidents is drunk driving by drivers of vehicles. Due to advancements, notably in the area of biometrics, it is now possible to determine a person’s state of drunkenness on alcohol. Therefore, creating an intelligent system to address this issue is important. These systems generally employ artificial vision or sensor networks. For the purpose of evaluating the collected data, we additionally utilize feature selection and supervised classification methods. Every technique and algorithm has been created to use the least amount of analytical resources feasible because the whole acquisition and analysis process will be completed within an embedded device. This paper provides an overview of current developments in the field of neural network-based driver intoxication detection. Different methods for detecting drunkenness have been examined, and potential areas for improvement have been identified.

Semiconductor manufacturing process involves various steps: fabrication of Wafers, testing of wafers, assembly of each single die and package level final test. Out of which, testing of wafer for defect detection and classification is the most important step where defective dies are eliminated. This improves the efficiency of the overall manufacturing process. Semiconductor wafer defects can be basic defects or mixed defects containing two or more basic defects. Since these defects varied from wafer to wafer and are complex, the accuracy obtained from traditional deep learning model is poor. To address this problem, a semiconductor mixed defect pattern recognition based on Residual Network (ResNet) Architecture is attempted. Among the ResNet architectures, ResNet50 is selected for wafer defect pattern recognition which has a 50 layer structure. The model is evaluated based on data set with 15 mixed defect patterns which were generated from WM-811K wafer map data set. Training, testing and validation of the data set is done. The performance parameters are generated and compared the performance with four different architectures including Convolutional Neural Network(CNN). The training results indicate that the ResNet50 shows a better performance in terms of accuracy, precision, recall and F1 score.

Magnetic Resonance Images (MRI) have been utilized by radiation oncologists to identify the size of tumours within the brain. The accurate identification of brain tumours from 3D MRI images is essential for proper diagnosis. Our proposed model introduces a network capable of segmenting 3D images using sparsely labeled data. This network is an enhanced version of the u-net architecture with attention network and utilizes 3D operations, without the need for a pre-trained network. The effectiveness of this approach was evaluated on the well-known BraTS 2018 brain dataset and achieved a Dice Similarity Coefficient score of (0.95, 0.89, 0.95) for the complete, core, and enhancing regions, respectively
