Several applications of ultra-wideband (UWB) sensors have been introduced recently. Here, through-wall detection, localization and tracking of human beings at emergency situations belong to the most frequently considered. For that purpose, UWB radars or UWB sensors network operating in the frequency band DC-5 GHz can be applied with advantage. On the other hand, in order to operate with a high efficiency, rescue or law enforcement teams are used to employ at the emergency situations solution usually narrowband wireless personal communication systems operating in the same frequency band as the UWB sensors. In addition, a standard TV and radio broadcasting, and WiFi and mobile communications (e.g. GSM, LTE, etc.) can be active as well. And finally, the particular nodes of the UBW sensor network could communicate by using a narrowband transmission systems with carriers located in the frequency band exploited by the UWB sensors. Hence, the UWB sensor performance under the condition of narrowband interference has to be considered. In our paper, we will provide some preliminary experimental analysis of the M-sequence UWB radar performance under the narrowband interference due to FSK modulated signal.

This paper presents a performance comparison of the two modern video coding standards H.265/HEVC and VP9. For such comparison, the latest available versions of codecs for encoding were used. Comparison is provided by set of objective quality metrics. Comparing of coding efficiency is evaluated for Full HDTV and also for Ultra HDTV. Results indicate a dominance of HEVC encoding algorithm in comparison to VP9 if bit rates are set to higher values. In low bitrates results are both codecs very balanced with small dominance of VP9.

In order to compensate for nonlinearities and memory effects introduced by power amplifiers, the digital predistortion is a widely used technique. Commonly the digital predistortion is based on polynomials derived from Volterra series or on lookup tables. Both approaches require time to find the the solution that can be applied to digital predistorter. Nevertheless, for predistorters to be actually implemented in real-time scenarios, fast convergence and low complexity is highly required. Unfortunately there does not exist a general rule for simple choice in therms of performance, convergence time and complexity. Thus in this paper a brief comparison of Volterra based series (orthogonal polynomials and simplified dynamic deviation reduction of second order) and lookup tables with cubic interpolation which are widely used schematic is provided.

In this paper we propose a system of speaker emotion recognition based on the SVM regression. Recognized emotional state is expressed in continuous scale in three dimensions: valence, activation and dominance. Experiments have been performed on the IEMOCAP database that contains 6 basic emotions supplemented with 3 additional emotions. Audio recordings from the corpus were divided into voiced and unvoiced segments, and for both types, a vast collection of diverse audio features (830/710) were extracted. Then 40 features for each type of segment were selected by Particle Swarm Optimization. Classification accuracy is expressed by cross-correlation coefficients between the estimated (by the propose system) and real (assigned according to human judgements) emotional state labels. Experiments conducted over dataset show very promising results for the future experiments.

Matrix methods are very useful tool for the analysis of switched circuits. Their derivation from two-graph method is described. The two-graph method is one of many methods for solving switched circuits. If this method is used it is necessary to draw a circuit diagram for each switching phase separately. Nodes it is necessary to describe differently in each phase of switching and moreover it is necessary to distinguish between the nodes of voltage and the charge. However, it is possible on the basis of this method to derive a method of reducing of decomposition relationship. In this case, the circuit is described only by a mathematical relationship. This relationship is decomposed in next step into relations for the partial phases. Based on the decomposed relationship, the matrices are assembled, from which is assembled the resulting matrix of SC circuit. A clearly arranged decomposed relationship derived from the method of two-graphs can be used for analyzing capacitor switched networks and of course for understanding them, too. It is described one of method finding reducing algorithm.

This paper shown the correction of the radar power in dependence on the target distance. This correction is important for right type estimation of the target. Type of the used radar is frequency modulated interrupted continuous wave radar. This radar receives different length of the pulse for the different distances of the targets and different transmitted pulses. Received powers are analyzed by the power spectral density methods. The Fourier transform is used in this paper. Results from this work are important for the radar reflectivity measurement and these results will be implemented to the real radar system.

In this paper, a new satellite based search and rescue system is designed. The old one - the COSPAS-SARSAT distress alert detection and distribution system, has been working for 30 years and rescued about 40 thousands of lives world-wide, in spite of low precision of the distress localization and long localization time. In this paper, a new system is designed, whose user terminal can be implemented into a 3G mobile phone, without increasing its size and power, while using a Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) like GPS, GLONASS or Galileo. The system will offer an exact and quick location service also in areas without the terrestrial mobile network coverage for billions of 3G users.

Our contribution focuses on the advanced method of the voltage-impedance map measurement involving a measuring probe optimization for the human skin voltage chart measurement. The conventional telescopic electrodes show significant disadvantages while placing them on non-plane surfaces. Depending on the covered shape the electrodes do not have sufficient contact to the skin in one case. In the other case the closest tips are pressed almost completely in, causing a significant higher force than the medium force does. To achieve a better coverage of any skin area and get a reduced force range of the 64 test tips a pneumatic kind of measuring probe - head has been implemented.

The research presented in this paper is oriented towards the physical layer security for wireless transceivers. Such approach is, besides to standard security provided at the bit level where the devices are identified using a MAC address or IMEI, able to provide additional level of security for any wireless devices, regardless the standard. The aim is to evaluate a potential to authenticate a set of wireless transceivers using measurement of the relative carrier frequency offsets between their local oscillators. Transmission of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex signals is considered. The carrier frequency offset is estimated using the embedded zero subcarriers (DC or special inserted ones). The measurements have been done using three Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP) devices.

The paper deals with accuracy of reconstruction of a spatial 3D model of an analyzed scene. The influence of inaccurate correspondence points' determination is analyzed. Two different experiments were executed. The first experiment considered impact of the inaccurate corresponding points' determination on the exterior camera calibration which subsequently affects 3D reconstruction. In the second experiment, accurate exterior calibration is assumed. Subsequently the impact of using inaccurate point correspondence in triangulation on the reconstruction of the spatial position of this point is investigated. Consequently, the article describes influence of the accurate correspondences at different steps of the reconstruction. Moreover, the article describes influence of the inaccuracy of various characters.
