Assessment of the sustainability of the swine supply chain 评估猪供应链的可持续性

Purpose: Among the production chains, the pig farming supply chain stands out. The study aims to identify the level of sustainability in the swine production chain based on the analysis of externalities, considering the criteria of the System of Management and Assessment of Sustainability of Pig Farming. Design/methodology/approach: The case study is carried out at a rural property in the municipality of Herval D’Oeste-Santa Catarina, the research is descriptive with qualitative analysis. For the development of the research, the information about the productive process was identified through interviews, the structured script allowed for identification of about 60 metrics and external indicators of the social, environmental, and economic-financial dimensions. Findings: The economic-financial dimension presented the remuneration of labor and invested capital as positive externalities. The social performance indicators (social interaction, human capital, and environmental practices) showed compliance levels in the model. Based on the analysis, negative externalities were identified in the environmental assessment indicators of water, air/greenhouse effect, and energy, highlighting the need for improvements in the production process and in the management of natural resources. Practical implications: The model contributes to the evaluation of production practices and indicates weaknesses and needs for improvements in the management of the pork supply chain. Social implications: The results demonstrate the importance of assessing sustainability in rural areas, considering it relevant link in the production chain. Originality/value: The analysis highlights the importance of assessing sustainability in supply chains, aiming to correct the negative externalities of the production process of rural activities.

A relational model for assessing internal communications and organizational bonds: the importance of affective relations and the role of the immediate supervisor 评估内部沟通和组织纽带的关系模式:情感关系的重要性和直接主管的作用

Purpose – To analyze the factors related to the internal communication process that influence the organizational bonds (commitment, entrenchment, and consent) between workers and their employing organizations. Design/methodology/approach – Qualitative and quantitative research instruments were employed in a sample field consisting of four large organizations in Brazil. Findings emerged from Content Analysis, Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM).The qualitative phase involved the participation of 23 respondents. The quantitative phase sample comprised 401 respondents. A scale was developed to assess workers' perceptions of communication processes. Findings – A relationship between communication processes and organizational bonds was confirmed. Immediate leader communication proved to be a highly significant factor in the internal communication process, as well as affective communication, which directly impacts commitment and acts on engaging communication, which in turn influences commitment. It was observed that the consent bond, through the subordination, directly impacts commitment, albeit in a negative manner. Originality/value – The study contributes to the field of organizational communication by introducing the IOCS (Internal Organizational Communication Scale) and paves the way to further the still nascent debate on the forms of interaction between organizations and their employees resulting from new management models, labor contracts, as well as organizational value and purposes, stemming from the changes brought about by the Covid-19 heath crisis.

Barriers to Balanced Scorecard institutionalization in a brazilian army unity 平衡计分卡在巴西军队中制度化的障碍

Purpose: Based on Kasurinen's model (2002), this study aims to analyze the barriers in the BSC institutionalization process in a Brazilian Army unit, discussing its main influencing factors. Design/methodology/approach: It is a case study with a descriptive approach. The collection of evidence was conducted through interviews, questionnaires, document analysis, and observation. Findings: The study mapped five barriers in the project: lack of top management sponsorship; organizational culture; fear of exposure of people; lack of training; and lack of systems integration. Due to the power structure in this type of organization, the barrier linked to the lack of management support exerted the main influence on the process. Originality/value: The research contributed by discussing the processes of implementation and institutionalization of management control tools and the possible barriers found in public organizations. Furthermore, it discussed how organizational characteristics can influence the process, providing factors that public managers should consider when formulating projects.

Attention and skepticism to greenwashing: analysis of influence on consumer behavior 对绿色清洗的关注和怀疑:对消费者行为影响的分析

Purpose: The goal was to assess the influence of greenwashing on consumer behavior, according to the levels of attention and skepticism involved in receiving and processing the stimulus. Design/methodology/approach: The method consisted of a hypothetical-deductive approach, performed through an experiment (n=151) with a 2 (attention or pre-attention) x 2 (skepticism or non-skepticism) factorial design, with the presentation and subsequent evaluation of a fictional advertising image with greenwashing. Findings: It was observed that the situation of greater consumer criticality occurred with the presence of both attention and skepticism, the opposite also being true, that is, lesser criticality (or greater vulnerability) of consumer was detected when both attention (pre-attention) and skepticism were absent. These results were found in the three investigated variables: green associations, image evaluation, and judgment about the greenwashing practice. Research implications: It has, as a contribution, not only the investigation of fairly unexplored constructs but also the combination and study in a connected way, bringing to the discussion the cognitive processes involved in the reception, processing, registration, and recovery of stimuli, especially in relation to the process of attention, and linking them to the practice of greenwashing. Practical implications: Managing implications can be seen from three main perspectives: organization, consumers, and government, all related to the importance and need for greater awareness. Originality/value: The study provided an unprecedented understanding of the role of two important cognitive processes (attention and skepticism) in consumer behavior in reaction to the practice of greenwashing.

Purpose: Present a conceptual model for the adoption of technological tools in continuous audit projects.Design/methodology/approach: This research is constituted from the perspective of a qualitative approach with a descriptive nature, divided into two phases. In the first phase, a Systematic Literature Review was conducted focusing on technological tools and Continuous Audit Projects, in the second phase, field research was conducted through in-depth interviews with professionals related to the theme.Findings: The results indicated the main benefits and challenges encountered in the adoption of technological tools in Continuous Audit Projects. The results pointed out the nine main factors, among them, the enabling elements for the adoption of technological tools in Continuous Audit Projects.Research limitations/implications: The study is limited to identifying the technological tools in Continuous Audit Projects.Originality/Value: Despite the existing technological tools, it is still incipient in the literature researched to identify the challenges and barriers faced by organizations to support the projects of Continuous Audit Projects.Practical implications: This research offers a conceptual model as a guiding instrument for the adoption of technological tools in Continuous Audit Projects for organizations inserted in an Internal Audit context. The model presents the main enabling elements that ensure the environment necessary for the development of the project to those involved in Continuous Audit Projects.

Does the world belong to the smart ones? Dishonest behavior in business schools 世界属于聪明人吗?商学院中的不诚实行为

Purpose: the main objective of this study is to analyze the meanings and perceptions of graduate program students (master's and doctoral students) in Business Administration, as well as professors of graduate programs (PPGs) from different institutions, in relation to possible practices of dishonest behavior and plagiarism in the academic context. It highlights the causes, consequences and meanings of possible practices of dishonest behavior and plagiarism in the academic context, using the theoretical framework of possible reasons for plagiarism and dishonest behavior in this context. Design/methodology/approach: the perceptions of 28 professors and students were analyzed, extracted from semi-structured interviews and questionnaires, and later analyzed using Flores' categorical analysis, where the qualitative data were reduced, categorized, and coded, capturing the relevant meanings. Findings: the study highlights the phenomenon of academic dishonesty through reports from professors and students, listing four metacategories: meaning and perception of the phenomenon, causes, consequences and forms of combat, which in turn generated seven other categories. Practical implications: possible causes and implications of plagiarism are discussed, as well as ways to combat or mitigate the impact of these acts in Business Administration teaching programs, fostering the debate about these deleterious practices in the academic context. Originality/value: the paper highlights evidence of dishonest behavior in the academy, which is sometimes overlooked by several stricto sensu management postgraduate programs.

Design/methodology/approach: the perceptions of 28 professors and students were analyzed, extracted from semi-structured interviews and questionnaires, and later analyzed using Flores' categorical analysis, where the qualitative data were reduced, categorized, and coded, capturing the relevant meanings. Findings: the study highlights the phenomenon of academic dishonesty through reports from professors and students, listing four metacategories: meaning and perception of the phenomenon, causes, consequences and forms of combat, which in turn generated seven other categories. Practical implications: possible causes and implications of plagiarism are discussed, as well as ways to combat or mitigate the impact of these acts in Business Administration teaching programs, fostering the debate about these deleterious practices in the academic context. Purpose – This study aims to identify the changes in a startup’s platform business model (PBM) due to COVID-19, considering the properties of value proposition, value creation, and value capture in three periods: Pre-COVID-19, During COVID-19 and almost Post-COVID-19. Design/Methodology/Approach – This inductive qualitative research is based on a longitudinal and single case study of Alloy, a Brazilian startup that had to change its PBM due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Primary data was collected through interviews, complemented by secondary data such as documents and videos. Data collected refers to the period from August 2019 to July 2023. Data analysis was conducted following the content analysis approach. Findings – Due to the COVID-19 scenario, Alloy had to change its PBM by modifying its value proposition, value creation, and value capture, moving the focus from a transaction platform to an innovation platform. While scalability decreased due to COVID-19, the PBM changes allowed Alloy to increase its network externalities, which can influence return to scale and bring it closer to success with PBM. Research limitations/implications – As a limitation, this study focuses on a single case study. Although it is singular, new cases can help to support our findings. Originality/Value – The originality of this study relies on being able to follow the steps of a startup with a PBM during the COVID-19 period. In complement, a conceptual model was developed to identify Alloy’s changes and opportunities to succeed with its PBM, which can be helpful for academics and practitioners.

Consumption of plus-size clothing: a systematic review 大码服装的消费:系统回顾

Purpose: The consumption of plus-size clothing is part of a growing market, but it is always surrounded by cloudy issues, such as the lack of a precise direction when it comes to producing and selling these garments and the prejudice surrounding the various areas of the fat body. Employing a systematic review, this paper aims to understand the consumption of plus-size clothing through an in-depth analysis of studies published in various areas on the subject. Design/Methodology/Approach: A systematic review was conducted in the WEB OF SCIENCE and SCOPUS databases, and 35 pertinent articles published up to the year 2020 were identified, read and analyzed in detail in this paper. Findings: The articles originated three thematic categories: Plus-size Consumption, which deals with consumer experience with the industry; Plus-size in the Media, which addresses aspects of advertising and plus-size models; Plus-size Identity, which covers identity formation and social influences. Research Limitations/Implications: Fourteen theoretical gaps were pointed out to be worked on by future studies, comprising online retailing, identity, demographic, contextual, methodological, cultural, and social issues. Originality/value: The present study represents pioneering work in the field of research on plus-size clothing, and, to the best of our knowledge, it is the first of its kind to conduct a comprehensive and systematic analysis of studies published in various areas related to this topic. While the plus-size apparel and retail market remain shrouded in nebulous issues, this research stands out as a valuable contribution by providing profound insights into consumption in this segment. Moreover, by identifying theoretical gaps and offering suggestions for future research, the study promotes advancements in knowledge and understanding of this emerging area. Its academic significance and potential impact on the industry make it crucial to developing more informed and inclusive strategies for the plus-size fashion sector.

Environmental, social and governance (ESG) and innovation in the construction sector: Systematic Literature Review 建筑行业的环境、社会和治理(ESG)与创新:系统文献综述

Purpose – To analyze the evolution of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and innovation in the civil construction industry, focusing on innovative and sustainable practices, as well as ways of measuring the level of construction companies in these themes. Design/methodology/approach – A Systematic Literature Review approach was used. The Web of Science and Elsevier Scopus Databases, from 2017 to 2022, were used for data collection, based on a set of keywords and Boolean operators ("sustainable development" & "framework" & "measurement" & "environment”). Using the Zotero Software, 488 papers were classified and organized according to the publication date, main content, proposals for sustainable and innovative tools and techniques. The papers were analyzed in the VOSviewer Software. Findings – There is an Asian predominance in the volume of publications and networks of strong connections in clusters by countries. The authors tend to look for papers from the same region as a reference, going against the concept of globalization of ESG and innovation themes and the condition of replicability of practices. Among the exemplified practices, there are replicable models and initiatives, as well as incipient innovative construction materials and methods in search of consolidation. Originality/value – Amid the current and growing discussion about innovation and ESG in organizations, it is noted that the civil construction sector still lacks better performances in these themes. This paper aims to contribute to the advancement of the discussion in the sector, bringing together works found in recent literature.

Teaching and learning in Project Management: what are the challenges? 项目管理的教与学:挑战是什么?

Purpose: The objective of this work is to understand how teaching and learning in project management happens and what their challenges are.Design/methodology/approach: To achieve this objective, we developed a Systematic Literature Review about teaching and learning in project management. Initially, we found 667 works. After reading the title, we selected 150 works for a full reading. 120 were suitable for the proposed objective. Findings: We found five categories: (1) learning; (2) teaching; (3) education; (4) skills; and (5) knowledge. Originality/value: We observed that there are gaps in the studies dealing with these themes concerning project management. Topics such as management of learning processes, the relationship between learning in educational institutions and organizational environments, the impact of informal learning, experiential learning, comparison of serious games and simulations with other learning methods, serous games in projects, hard skills, and soft skills, are still not widely published in academic journals on project management.
