Motivation is one of the key factors affecting the achievement of a specific task. Therefore, the present research aims to identify and establish the existing relationships between sport motivation, the anxiety-related disorder, and the own body perception, divided into (a) developing an explanatory model of the motivational climate towards sport and its relationship with anxiety and physical self-concept and (b) contrasting the structural model through a multigroup analysis according to sex. A descriptive, nonexperimental (ex post facto), and cross-sectional study of young university students was carried out. The Perceived Motivational Climate Questionnaire for Sport (PMCSQ-2), the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), and the Self-Concept Form 5 (AF-5) were used for data collection. The data reveal that males show higher scores in all the variables that make up the ego climate and in the physical self-concept, while females show higher scores in the variables that make up the task climate and higher levels of anxiety.

Purpose. This study was designed to characterize the psychometric properties of the Persian version of Fear of Hospitalization Scale (P-FHS). Design and Methods. In order to evaluate the validity and reliability of the translated scale, a cross-sectional design was employed. Ten experts evaluated the content validity of Fear of Hospitalization Scale (FHS) after it had been back-translated into Persian. With 612 patients having emergency surgery, construct validity was assessed using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The STROBE checklist for cross-sectional studies was followed. Findings. The results of EFA (n = 306) showed that fear of hospitalization had three factors. These three factors accounted for 45.28% of the total variance. Also, these factors were confirmed by CFA (n = 306) (root-mean-square error of approximation = (90% confidence interval) = 0.050 (0.041, 0.058), goodness-of-fit index = 0.945, comparative fit index = 0.968, non-normal fit index = 0.948, incremental fit index = 0.968, Tucker–Lewis index = 0.959). The coefficients of Cronbach’s alpha, McDonald’s omega, composite reliability, and maximum reliability for all three factors were greater than 0.7, demonstrating satisfied internal consistency. Practice Implication. According to the published results, the P-FHS is effective at measuring hospitalization anxiety in patients undergoing emergency surgery. It is advised that nurses in Iranian culture use a legitimate and trustworthy technique to pinpoint the causes of hospitalization anxiety in patients undergoing emergency surgery to give optimal care.

Physical activity (PA) has been shown to have positive effects on mental well-being. However, previous research has mostly concentrated on the negative effects of inactivity on mental well-being and examined the use of PA as a preventive or therapeutic treatment for mental disorders, rather than a proactive method of enhancing mental well-being. Therefore, there is a need to consider the connection between PA and enhanced mental well-being, such as happiness. The current study sought to examine the levels of happiness among active and inactive adults. The study’s participants were Iranian adults between 18 and 60 years. Data were gathered using a modified version of the 29-item Oxford 2002 Happiness Questionnaire and a researcher-developed leisure and PA questionnaire. N = 541 individuals completed the online survey, including n = 373 (68.9%) women and n = 168 (31.1%) men. More than half of Iranians (55.1%) reported low or moderate levels of happiness, and that those who engaged in active leisure pursuits reported significantly higher levels of happiness than those who were inactive during leisure time. The results of this cross-sectional study suggest that engaging in PA during leisure time predicts happiness. Encouraging Iranian adults to be more physically active during leisure time could increase happiness levels and thus contribute to the sustainable happiness and well-being of society.

Purpose. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between postpartum depression and early maladaptive schemas. Design and Methods. The sample of our study consists of women who gave birth in Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and applied for control purposes at least in the 4th week and at the 6th month postpartum. Sociodemographic data and clinical evaluation form prepared by the researchers (the Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale (EDSS)) and the Young Schema Scale-Short Form (YSS-SF3) were filled in by the participants. Findings. In the results of our study compared with women without depression, women with PPD had schema subdimensions of disconnection (emotional deprivation, social isolation, defectiveness), impaired autonomy (failure, pessimism, vulnerability to harm/illness), impaired self-boundaries (insufficient self-control), and high standards (approval-seeking) detected. Conclusion. The results of our study showed that some early maladaptive schemas are more common in women diagnosed with postpartum depression. Early detection of postpartum depression is very important for its prevention and treatment. Evaluation of early maladaptive schemas in postpartum women may be helpful in determining the risk of disease.

Purpose. The study aims to determine the correlation between management care perception and the professional quality of life of intensive care unit (ICU) nurses in China and examine the influencing factors. Design and Methods. A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted with 486 ICU nurses (response rate: 97.2%) from five tertiary hospitals in China from 1 January to 31 July, 2022, by convenience sampling. Data were collected through the general information questionnaire, the management care assessment scale, and the professional quality of life scale. Findings. The score of management care perception of ICU nurses was (132.24 ± 28.04), and the scores of compassion satisfactory, compassion fatigue, and burnout of professional quality of life were (37.54 ± 7.73), (20.80 ± 6.49), and (17.79 ± 5.14), respectively. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that age and the total score of managed care were positively correlated with the score of compassion satisfaction dimension (β = 1.62, 0.19) and that the total score of perceived management care was negatively correlated with the score of compassion fatigue and job burnout (β = −0.04, −0.07). ICU nurses’ perceived level of managerial care was at a moderate level. The younger the nurse and the less managerial care they perceived, the lower their job satisfaction and the greater the burnout. Practice Implications. ICU nurses’ perceptions of management care and professional quality of life are at a medium level, and a significant correlation exists between them. Therefore, measures to improve the professional quality of life should be taken. Nursing administrators are obliged to actively create a good atmosphere of management care, reduce the job burnout of ICU nurses, improve their professional quality of life, optimise the quality of nursing service, and stabilise the nursing team.

Purpose. Phubbing not only affects the impression formation and communication quality of both sides of communication but also damages the quality of peer relationships among college students, reduces the happiness of interpersonal objects, and has a negative impact on the physical and mental development of college students. The boredom proneness of college students is an important influencing factor of phubbing, and we aim to investigate the mechanism of its internal influence on phubbing. Design and Methods. A short version of the boredom proneness scale, fear of missing out scale, online vigilance scale, and phubbing scale was used to survey 357 Chinese college students. Bootstrap method using SPSS Process macro developed by Hayes was used to test the chain-mediating effect of fear of missing out and online vigilance in the relationship between college students’ boredom proneness and phubbing. Results. Boredom proneness, fear of missing out, online vigilance, and phubbing were significantly and positively correlated with each other ( p <
