Opinions and experiences of nursing students about evaluating the sexual health of individuals with mental disorders: A qualitative study. 护生对精神障碍患者性健康评价的意见与体会:一项质性研究。

Purpose: To explore the views and experiences of nursing students about evaluating the sexual health of individuals with mental disorders.

Design and methods: A phenomenological approach was used. The purposeful sampling method gathered 11 nursing students. Data were collected in-depth interviews, which were analyzed using Colaizzi's method of data analysis.

Findings: The findings were grouped under three themes: Barriers to sexual health evaluation, lack of supervision and knowledge, and increasing personal growth.

Practice implications: Barriers to sexual health evaluation need to be determined. Educators and clinicians should supervise students during clinical placement. Learning holistic care is an opportunity to increase personal growth.

Purpose: This study evaluates the effect of a 10-week psychoeducation program (PP) on disease burden, depression, and anxiety levels in relatives of psychotic patients.

Design and methods: The participants were 43 relatives of patients attending a community mental health center. The Zarit Caregiver Burden Scale (ZCBS), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) were used to collect psychometric data.

Findings: Administering the PP to caregivers significantly reduced their ZCBS, BAI, and BDI scores.

Practice implications: We recommend integrating the PP into treatment and rehabilitation programs within the scope of psychiatric-care services.

Does social support affect menopausal symptoms in menopausal women? 社会支持是否影响更年期妇女的更年期症状?

Purpose: To determine the effect of perceived social support of menopausal women on their menopausal complaints.

Design and methods: This descriptive and correlational study was conducted with 505 women. The data were obtained using personal information form, menopause rating scale, and multidimensional scale of perceived social support. Frequency, percentage, t test, analysis of variance Skewness and Kurtosis (±1) and correlation were used in the analysis of the data.

Findings: In the study, it was found that there was a positive and significant relationship between menopausal symptoms and social support, and menopausal symptoms decreased as social support increased.

Practice implications: Nurses should provide consultancy for women to increase their social support systems to decrease their menopausal complaints.

Relationships between leadership orientations and emotional intelligence in nursing students. 护生领导取向与情绪智力的关系

Purpose: To describe the relationship between leadership orientation and emotional intelligence levels of nursing students.

Method: The study is a cross-sectional and descriptive correlational study.

Results: This study was carried out with 320 nursing students. There was a positive relationship between the mean scores for the Leadership Orientations subdimensions and the mean scores for the overall Emotional Intelligence Evaluation Scale and its subdimensions.

Practice implications: More studies are needed to examine the relationship between students' emotional intelligence and leadership orientations.

Assessment of mental health issues in pregnant women with fetal complications: Relation to attachment and anxiety. 有胎儿并发症的孕妇心理健康问题评估:与依恋和焦虑的关系。

Purpose: Pregnancy period is important for all women. The aim of this study was to evaluate mental status, antenatal depression, attachment, and anxiety in pregnant women with fetal complications.

Design and methods: Mothers who had been diagnosed with fetal complications during pregnancy were interviewed after the delivery of their babies.

Findings: The results showed that anxiety and depression scores were significantly higher in the mothers who had received psychiatric support treatment. Maternal attachment scores were found low, depression scores were found high in mothers of children with congenital anomalies.

Conclusion: According to the results of the study, a maternal attachment was low and depression was high in mothers with congenital anomalies.

Practice implications: Possible psychological problems after birth can be prevented by psychotherapeutic nursing interventions during pregnancy to pregnant women who have babies with fetal anomalies.

PURPOSEMissed appointments pose significant challenges to the health care system as they contribute to the inefficient use of resources, increase costs, and result in poor outcomes. The aim of this project was to reduce the rate of missed adult psychotherapy appointments by implementing a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner-initiated telephone orientation protocol (TOP).DESIGNQuasi-experimental.METHODSThe TOP intervention combined an attendance policy review, psychoeducation, and motivational interviewing techniques. Missed appointment rates were compared before and after initiation of the TOP.FINDINGSThe TOP significantly reduced the rates of missed appointments by 55% over 12 weeks.PRACTICE IMPLICATIONSThe TOP can be implemented as standard care to increase client engagement, improve appointment attendance, and boost clinician productivity.

PURPOSETo estimate the prevalence of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among parents in cases of fetal abnormalities and associated factors.DESIGN AND METHODSA cross-sectional study. The study sample comprised 169 couples who experienced fetal abnormalities.FINDINGSWe observed a high prevalence of PTSD. Fathers had similar levels of PTSD to those of mothers. Social support was an important protective factor against parental PTSD. In addition, a negative psychological reaction to the loss of a child in either the father or the mother affects the other spouse.PRACTICE IMPLICATIONSThis study emphasizes recognizing the importance of social support and of psychological interactions between mothers and fathers in PTSD intervention for parents.

The effect of cognitive-behavioral therapy on death anxiety and depression in patients with heart failure: A quasi-experimental study. 认知行为疗法对心力衰竭患者死亡焦虑和抑郁的影响:一项准实验研究。

PURPOSEIn this study, the effect of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) on death anxiety and depression was investigated in patients with heart failure.DESIGN AND METHODSIn this quasi-experimental study, 66 patients with heart failure were randomly assigned to intervention (n = 33) and control (n = 33) groups. Data collection was done using a demographic questionnaire, Templer death anxiety scale, and Beck depression inventory.FINDINGSIt was found that the overall scores of death anxiety and depression in posttest were significantly lower than those at the follow-up stage in the intervention group.PRACTICE IMPLICATIONSCBT could significantly reduce death anxiety and depression in patients with heart failure. Therefore, it is recommended to equip nurses with CBT trainings to manage patients with heart failure better.

Health perceptions and orthorexia nervosa tendencies among academics. 学者的健康认知和神经性厌食症倾向。

PURPOSEThe aim of this study was to determine the perception of academicians' health status, identify academicians' orthorexia nervosa (ON) tendencies, and identify the factors associated with academicians' ON tendencies.DESIGN AND METHODSPersonal information form (14 questions), Perception of Health status Scale, and ON (ORTO-11) Scale were used in data collection.FINDINGSThe mean age of the participants was 42.23 ± 8.18. Of the academicians, 77.6% were female and 38.8% were in health-related departments. The health perception mean score was 1.82 ± 0.64. The average score of the ORTO-11 Scale was 22.86 ± 4.00, and 84.5% were found to be at risk of ON. There was a correlation between perception of health status and ORTO-11 (r = -0.286; p < 0.05).PRACTICE IMPLICATIONSMost of the academicians had a high tendency to ON. However, it is necessary to increase their awareness by providing training. Further studies should be carried out for certain diagnosis of ON.

PURPOSEThis study was conducted to explore the effect of inadequately conducted compulsory distance education on the professional identity (PI) development process from nursing students' perspective.DESIGN AND METHODSThe study used a qualitative design based on Heidegger's hermeneutic phenomenological approach. The data were analyzed by using Van Manen's thematic analysis.RESULTSThe themes of the study were: (1) an inadequate, compulsory, uncertain, and difficult experience, (2) negative impact on PI development.PRACTICE IMPLICATIONSIt is important for educators to realize that the PI development of nursing students is affected during the distance education process. In this context, students can be included in clinical practice in small groups before graduation in addition to online learning in terms of PI development.
